I am currently enjoying most of what I see on WWE broadcasting.В Certainly not all but they don’t expect everyone to love everything. В В But the tag team division is on fire, nXt is out of control in her growth, and RAW is riddled with new hungry and innovative talents.
So I looked at the landscape and thought: What have I not written about, that could improve or at least capitalize on the current landscape?
So here are five concepts that could make for interesting WWE programming if brought back.
The Draft – At times it seems the roster is so full that solid talent do not get the chance to grab the brass ring so to speak. В I am sure WWE has their reasons.В And to be honest at times I did not like the original brand split. В But right now I think it could really work.
With legends like Austin, Jericho, and HBK making their appearances on the network, the idea of Jericho vs HBK or Daniel Bryan vs JBL as rival manager is exciting.
The roster is too stacked to let guys like O’Neil or Ryder get momentum, and it puts other guys like Bryan and Ziggler chasing the top spot that corporate has already made their picks on. В Splitting the main roster will allow more tag teams to grow, more top stars room to spread their rings, and plenty of room for Bragging Rights once a year.
Also I kinda miss the draft, who is gonna lead Raw, can the top guy in Smackdown sell more tickets and change the flagship. В The Draft may not be back for a while but it would help break up some of the vanilla we see from time to time in today’s united WWE brand.
Lastly it would be very exciting to not only see who gets called up from nXt, but where did they get drafted to?!
Championship Scramble – The concept is simple. Take a belt, any belt and put it on the line. В Then take 5 top guys like your champ Seth Rollins, and number one contender Dean Ambrose.
Add additional contenders like Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, and Bray Wyatt.В Then let them fight for a set 20 or 30 minute time limit.
Victory is obtained by pinfall or submission, and it can be obtained as many times as is possible by the contenders.В Get a pinfall and you are champ, someone else gets a submission and he is champ.
You can have the title change hands multiple times in one night, but it is who is holding the championship by the end of the time limit who walks out champion. Now that is a match with the current roster I would love to see!
Six Pack Challenge – Yuuup!В I love multiple challenger matches.В Six guys enter the match with or without a championship.
But for example sake John Cena defends his US Title against five on comers. В Maybe Neville, Luke Harper, R-Truth, King Barrett, and Curtis Axel because I believe in Axelmania! (Just not all the way dressed as hogan)
Now two guys start the match and four are on the apron. В Any man can tag any man in, but by pinfall or submission; only one can win.
Personally I would love to see it elimination style, just to see how alliances would form or fall. В But either way I think todays roster would kill it on the WWE network with this one!
ECW One Night Stand – Yep I know you have Extreme Rules once a year and I appreciate that.В But let Paul Heyman show you how it is done on a “once a year” WWE network special.
This is where we can see homage paid to the ECW Originals.В This is where ECW Originals do their Undertakeresque routine a show up for ONE fight you can not miss. В This is where we see how Wyatt, Ambrose, Reigns, Rollins, Ryback, and Neville would be booked under the ECW Banner.
This is where the Parental Settings matter on the Network and this is where it legitimately goes Extreme!
Hell in the Cell Armageddon –
В I know I am obsessed with fray like matches.В But when you see the craziness provided by todays stars, it almost feels like a perfect fit.
So then ask yourselves, when is the last time we have seen a six man Hell in a Cell?
Too long right?В So #WWEArmageddonHIAC… Let’s see what happens when Six of the Best step in the most brutal cage match, and let us see who can stand victorious in Armageddon!
In fact the Tag Team Elimination Chamber may have inspired this one. В New Day vs Cesaro Kidd vs Ascension comes to mind, but that’s just one possibility!
