Hey everyone! I hope you had a safe and fun New Years. I was in bed by 7 p.m. and able to sleep in until about 6 a.m. It was the most sleep I got in ages.
Our new cook is taking a bit to learn the tricks that we as a restaurant have developed. Having someone come into your environment is a weird dynamic. You have to make sure the work ethic matches the hardest worker, the camaraderie is there for teamwork, and the respect for the work being presented. Hopefully, this will lead to bigger and brighter things, like maybe even being open after 2 p.m. The real goal is to not have to work 7-days a week with no wiggle room for a day off monetarily. There isn’t much more to report on the personal end. Lucy, my daughter, is one month and a week or so now, she still cries, eats, poops, sleep, repeat.
Sunday Shockwave
We last left off half-way through a TLC match with Orin Veidt and Jacob Savage. In case we missed it they give us a ‘last week on’ segment.
The highlights they show are: Veidt running into the guardrail, Savage hitting Veidt with a chair and shocking a little girl, walking outside into the snow, Veidt getting body slammed onto the icy snow, some in ring wrestling, nearfalls, chair throws, ladder throws, table breakings. I notice that when Jacob Savage is laying on the ground after the table bump his head has a knot on it and some blood. Right before we go to commercial we see a man in a blue jumpsuit with a kendo stick walk into the camera shot.
We get some future event postings. AWF 10 year anniversary is coming up… wow. Way to go, 10 years for any business is a huge milestone! Congratulations AWF! Here is to many more.
Orin Veidt w/ Benjamin Stacks vs. Jacob Savage PART 2
The match takes place right where we left off. Josh Price and Jeff Jennings are brought out by Benjamin Stacks. I don’t know if they are a stable or have a name. DJ Draper just says “that is uncalled for”.
In a moment that never gets old to me. A simple kendo shot to Savages back gets the crowd to
Home Alone
.
The kids are shocked at what is happening. Talk about getting a crowd invested in the match. The crowd is ON THEIR FEET! Everyone! Most people looked bored earlier on, but now… now man, woman, teenage girls and boys, and children are on their feet and hanging on every move.
At the nearfall the crowd legit erupts in cheers for Savage’s kickout. They got ’em!
Jacob and Orin are fighting to their feet. Tony Denucci makes a good point, “is it wise to kick out? It’s still 3-on-1.” Jacob stands with a kendo stick and is able to fight off Jennings and Price. Savage turns around and gets BLASTED in the shoulder by Veidt and his kendo stick. A shot that quiets the crowd.
Orin tells Jennings and Price to not worry cause he’s got it. DJ Draper says Orin is reminiscent of serial killers. He does have a
Dahmer
look to him.
The crowd claps hard for Jacob to get to his feet, but he gets struck by Veidt’s kendo stick a few times. Orin goes for a 450 splash and misses! Jacob does his moves of doom. He does a two running clotheslines and a sambo spinebuster. Dj Draper keeps saying “JAACOOB SAVVAGE” Savage hits a Jackhammer suplex which Draper calls a powerslam.
The Stacks Posse walked to the back I guess. Orin kicked out despite his buddies leaving. Orin hits a cradle shock for two! Veidt goes to the outside and grabs a chair. He slithers his way to Savage with a psychotic grin.
Veidt attempts some move onto the chair for two. Draper says “pro wrestlers are super heroes” Which would make this the Mystery Men , or Kick-Ass to you youngins.
Veidt shows his pentagram chair to Savage as my word count hits 666. Because Orin is into Magic and has a Harry Potter tattoo because invisibility cloak. Savage was able to reverse the chair shot into a crossface. Veidt is not giving up, he is passing out, the ref is checking his arms and his hand drops three times. It is over! The crowd is stoked too. Savage goes to celebrate on the top rope.
Jennings and Price come back out? They beat down Savage as the bell rings repeatedly. Sepio Saunders comes out to save Jacob Savage. Saunders takes out Jennings. Some guy I couldn’t quite catch the name of in black pants, long hair and tats comes out too. Richard Larson? I don’t know. Luke X came out too. Randy Reigns comes out, it’s a PIER SIXER!!
Some big bald guy comes out too… A lot of guys I don’t know. Everyone clears the ring except for Josh Price and Jacob Savage, and two guys I have never seen but look very out of place. Savage ends it with a spear and is the only one left in the ring.
And I’m Like… That match was crazy. A few spots that were questionable, like Benny Stacks not helping out his guy more. The posse that came out to help Orin just left without any big moment or spot to send them to the back, there was some confusion on the commentary side on why they weren’t at ringside either. Having Savage win by passing out Orin kept both guys strong and tough too. Orin better find out why Stacks is slacking so much at his managerial duties. If it is 4-on-1 in a TLC match, there is no reason Benny shouldn’t be involved every chance he gets. Especially when cheating was a precedent set very early on. I NEED AN EXPLANATION!! The brawl at the end was unexpected and welcomed. I just wish I knew why half the guys were in there, I have been watching weekly for some time now and there was no earlier stable work or roster vs. roster storyline.
Great job to Orin and Jacob though, they put it all out there and put on a good show. You can tell there were spots they really wanted to do. Some of them made sense in context, other ones, like dragging Orin to the outside for a bodyslam ended up feeling inorganic.
Jacob Savage closes the show by saying “AWF tonight you saw the heart of a savage shine through” He says with us behind him anything is possible. He is confident and has a message to get across, just needs emotion and soul behind it and we are good to go.
Orin gets a chance to speak, along with Benny Stacks. Benny says “AAHAHAH Jacob Savage AHAHAH, Orin had it, he won, he won, he won, what did he do? He cheated, he cheated, I don’t know what is going on, THERE WERE KIDS! He didn’t beat you” Orin agrees and says “Savage, it took everything you had Savage. It took a chair, it took the cement, it took everything you had. I did not lose” Benny is in the background screaming “HE DID NOT GET PINNED, HE DID NOT TAP OUT!” Orin says “look me in the eyes so you know I am not lying to you, your career will come to a crashing halt. Embrace your future” Benny ends it with “because it’s not gonna be a happy one”
And I’m Like… I mean I guess, Orin “didn’t” lose, so we need to have some sort of match where THERE MUST BE A WINNER. There could have been depth added to the character other than “no you didn’t REALLY beat me” but that chance was missed. I am intrigued on where this goes, so job well done.
That about does it for me, I am gonna head to bed soon, you all have a good night!
