What's new pussy cat? Mark Adam Haggerty—or MC Swaggerty as I'm known on the street—back at you with another edition of "Here Comes the Pain," Cheap-Heat's
Top Five Countdown
from
WWE Smackdown.
This was sort of a boring week for Smackdown, but that's not to say there weren't a host of takeaways worth sharing. When you don't have time to take in an entire two hours, you can always count on Cheap-Heat.com.
5. The Ascension isn’t SOO Terrible Anymore
This week's episode of
WWE Smackdown
featured “Keeper of the Cosmic Key,” and his new starbound lackeys – the Ascension. The duo of Konnor and Viktor made quick work of their fellow NXT veterans, the same team that defeated them for their tag titles several months ago, the Lucha Dragons.
4. The Diva's Matches are Shorter than Ever
The WWE has been accused of short-changing its female competitors in terms of time allotted for competition. Now that the Diva's Revolution is underway, it would seem their matches are shorter than ever. After two underwhelming altercations on
Monday Night Raw
, Paige and Sasha Banks are bringing their rivalry to Smackdown. I wonder how long before this segment runs right off the rails.
3. Cesaro versus the Miz II
I gave a detailed description of my affinity for the Miz on this week's edition of
"Highlight of the Night"
on Daily Wrestling News, so I won't repeat myself now. I wasn't enthused with Cesaro and the Miz on Raw, although I'm a big fan of both individuals. Their match on Smackdown was much better, and set the trend for what's to come throughout the night.
2. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Roman's Awkward Cousin
Which Uso is that? Jimmy? It really doesn't matter. Either way—I hope the Shield doesn't call on any Uso to take part in their six-man tag at
Night of Champions
. An excellent match between some of the most talented members of the upper-mid card. The New Day is on fire and there doesn't seem to be any sense in putting them out just yet. From a workrate standpoint, this was most certainly the
Match of the Night.
1. Seth Rollins versus Ryback in a Lumberjack Match
You're kidding me, right? Lumberjack matches are
so
few and far between, and yet both Smackdown AND
Impact Wrestling
featured them as their main event? That's insanity. I've never been a fan of the gimmick personally, but anything is possible with the right players at ringside. I also think it's really cool how Seth Rollins is feuding with three men at once—Sting, John Cena, and the intercontinental champion
Ryback
.
