Independent Jones – IWF Shake Rattle & Rumble ’15

Welcome to "Independent Jones" —my name is Mark Adam Haggerty and this week I'm counting down the most impressive performances from this weekend's "IWF Shake Rattle and Rumble " in Nutley New Jersey. The show featured students and graduates of the IWF Centre such as Dan Kinnally and Zack Schaefer, as well as WWE legends Bushwhacker Luke and the Honky Tonk Man. I was in attendance alongside my B+ Player Radio colleague Gary Mastriano. Get my complete review along with photos exclusively at Daily Wrestling News by CLICKING HERE .

Honorable Mention – Izzy
There's something about Izzy that I find extraordinarily endearing. Add that to the fact that this 5'4 combatant is one of the most technically succinct members of the roster, and you'll come to find out why I've given Izzy the Honorable Mention . While nothing about his match with Nick Shin blew me away, his professional wrestling prowess coupled with his engaging crowd work solidified Izzy as one of my favorite aspects of IWF. Perhaps a title shot is in order sometime down the line, and when that happens, expect to see Izzy rise in the ranks here on "Independent Jones. "

5. "The Dark Oracle" Sage
The IWF American Heavyweight Champion had a top-notch bout this week wherein he defended his title against the "Conqueror" Dan Kinnally. Despite what the moniker might suggest, Dan could not conquer the "Dark Oracle" Sage—an individual who could be seen scattered across the card throughout the night. After retaining his title, Sage returned alongside Galindo, Roman Zachary, and Shane O'Brien for their main event trios' match. When the villains were finally vanquished by the Honky Tonk Man, Bushwhacker Luke, and Shawn Donavan, Sage found himself in deep waters sans a life-preserver.

4. "Red Hot" Erin Winter
One of just three women on the IWF's main roster, "Red Hot" Erin Winter competed in a triple threat match against Varla Rey and "All Star" Michele Dee. I use the word "against" sort of loosely in this case, as Winter and Dee double-teamed Rey from start to finish. After Varla knocked off Michele Dee, Erin Winter took Varla to task for defeating her during "IWF Fall Brawl " last month. An impressive victory for Winter at the end of a fun match that popped the crowd. Although the fans seem to be coming out in support of Varla, Winter doesn't let her bubbly disposition waiver, which is a true testament to her professionalism as a wrestler.

3. "Master of Chaos" Kevin Knight
Kevin Knight is to the IWF Centre what Triple H is to the WWE Performance Center. And just like the Game , the "Master of Chaos" steals the show every time he steps into the ring. The fans chanted "Kevin Country" as the gargantuan Knight stepped over the top rope and signaled for a " Knight Fall" on Junior Heavyweight Champion Michael Cammett. I thought this was most definitely the match of the night; Kevin landed his signature move with grace, but couldn't go home with the win. After the "Golden Boy" defeated Knight, the two shook hands and raised their arms in solidarity. Kevin is a class-act outside of the ring—a kind-hearted pillar of his community—and that good nature carries over into the persona he adopts inside the squared-circle.

2. "Simply Ravishing" Shawn Donavan
It's hard to put the heavyweight champion anywhere but number one. But this countdown is a weekly thing—the next time I'm at the IWF Centre, "Simply Ravishing" Shawn Donavan will have another shot at first place. As for now, the leader of the locker room is taking secondary honors for his incredible role in the main event trios contest. Shawn teamed with WWE Hall of Famer Bushwhacker Luke and former Intercontinental Champion the Honky Tonk Man to take on the combined forces of Galindo, Shane O'Brien, and Roman Zachary. Donavan is one of the most intense elements of these IWF events. While the majority of performers are focused on their character and in-ring persona, Shawn's main objective is to electrify the audience. It's plain to see why Shawn is in possession of the IWF title. Not only is he a refined wrestler and competent showman, but he carries himself with a professional panache not often found on the independent level.

1. "Golden Boy" Michael Cammett
I've said in the past that Michael Cammett is more than likely the most over wrestler on the IWF roster. At first glance, one might assume that his popularity is a result of his youthful good looks and undeniable marketability. But upon further inspection, Michael Cammett wasn't given the name "Golden Boy"—he earned it. A few weeks ago Cammett competed opposite Galindo—another favorite of mine—in a "2-Out of 3 Falls" match that took me off guard and made me take notice of both junior heavyweight wrestlers. Tonight Cammett stole the show once more with the "Master of Chaos"—and owner of the IWF—Kevin Knight. Cammett displayed a varied skillset that included submission work and quick attacks from a vertical advantage. In addition to earning tremendous offense, Cammett took an incredible amount of punishment from his trainer and mentor. Kevin Knight's signature move is called the "Knight Fall"—a modified crucifix powerbomb ala Razor Ramon. Cammett felt the wrath of the Fall once, but wriggled his way from harm when Knight sought to put the "Golden Boy" away. After the match Cammett offered his hand to the fallen Knight. Kevin accepted, and the two relished in unanimous praise from those of us in attendance.
