Legitimate Shoot Fight Breaks Out During STARDOM Main Event

During the main event of the February 22nd, 2015 STARDOM live event, a match between the champion Yoshiko and Act Yasukawa for the World of Stardom Title Match, a legitimate fight broke out between the two women. В The brawl resulted in the referee stopping the match, after Act Yasukawa was unable to continue.

Act Yasukawa suffered a broken orbital bone and nose. В Reports say that from the beginning of the match Yoshiko was on the attack, and targeted the right eye of Act. It should be noted that Act Yasukawa has a known history of problems with that eye, resulting in recent surgery to repair damage.

One viewer who watched the event said the following:

“It (the match) started normal-ish but Yoshiko was pretty much shooting from the beginning so it quickly degenerated. Act kept trying to bring it back on track since they were in the main event but every time she did she’d just get legit beaten down. The ref asked Stardom’s owner, who was at ringside, if they should stop the match but he ordered it to continue (which it did, until Kimura threw the towel in for Act).

Yoshiko was clearly targeting the right eye. She rolled Act over a couple times just to get at it.

Just a quick note, this whole thing lasted maybe six or seven minutes at most, but it felt like an eternity. I really have no idea why Kyohei Wada didn’t just make a judgment call and stop it on his own without consulting anybody; he’s a veteran ref and has surely seen this type of situation before.

STARDOM’s wiki page has the following posted about the incident:

“On February 22, Stardom’s event in Korakuen Hall ended in controversy, when the main event, where Yoshiko defended the World of Stardom Championship against Act Yasukawa, had to be ended prematurely. The match reportedly saw Yoshiko shooting on Yasukawa, legitimately beating her to the point that the match had to be stopped. Following the match, Yasukawa, with a badly swollen face, was rushed to a Tokyo hospital. Stardom’s president Rossy Ogawa publicly apologized for the incident and called an emergency meeting with Fuka, Nanae Takahashi, Io Shirai and Kyoko Kimura to discuss the situation”

Reports from the event say that apparently even after all of that Act still had to be forcibly taken to the back because she still wanted to finish the main event. She could be heard yelling “I’m a pro wrestler!” as she was being carried out.”

Here is a photo of Act trying to make her way back into the ring before being taken to the back against her will:

Here is another photo that shows the damage done to the face of Act Yasukawa, which reportedly resulted in a broken orbital bone and nose:

It has been said that there was some previous heat between the two, but not much information exactly as to what it was about.

As of right now no further details on the incident have become available.

The lack of professionalism exhibited in this match sickens me. Just a few months ago I was reading about Act’s tough upbringing/breakthrough into the sport and behind the awesome badass character she’s a genuinely endearing person. Regardless of whatever heat w/Yoshiko, for the latter to legitimately try to injure her and target her eye is disgusting. Even despite Act wanting to finish the match (God bless her) to not have called it off sooner is mind-blowing.

I think it may be a work, it makes Yoshiko look like a legit bad ass monster champ & it puts sympathy on Act who has a doc coming out

I sure hope it is a work. I mean, especially when ACT still wanted to continue with the bout despite her condition does have some sense of it being a work. But for now, time will tell.

Breaking someone’s face for a work? I know the Japanese have a rep for working stiff, but this is way past that.
