Survivor Series 2005
Ric Flair vs Triple H (Last Man Standing Match)
Triple H starts off by attacking Flair in the aisle before flair can take his robe off or even get to the ring. Flair fights back, and they brawl all over the building. Fans are eating this match up, behind every move Flair makes. Flair taking lots of bumps on the floor. Really making the match look intense. Finally the match makes it into the ring for the first time. Triple H focuses on the back of The Nature Boy. Triple H finds a screw driver, and now Flair is bleeing all over the place. Triple H again has the upper hand, as he has had for the majority of the match. Both men are back outside, trading blows back and forth. Triple H nails a HUGE spinbuster on Ric Flair on the floor, which gets a loud pop from the fans. Hunter grabs the mic and taunts flair while the referee makes the count. Flair back up, and locks in a one hand death grip on Triple H’s man region. Crowd loves it. They make their way to the announcers table. Triple H sets Flair up for the pedigree, but Flair reverses it with a back body drop through the OTHER announce table. The crowd explodes. Awesome spot. The sound of Flair’s chops echoe through the arena, and is answered with a chorus of WOOOOO’s from the crowd. These chops are so stiff. Flair is still leaking blood all over the place. Flair is really pulling off the “dirtiest player in the game” moniker for this match. Lots of low blows, bitings, and other dirty tactics. Flair now has the upper hand, but only momentarily as Triple H send him back outside. Flair cuts him off, and wraps Triple H’s leg around the ring post, then follows that up with a stiff chair shot the the knee of Triple H against the ring post. Back in the ring now, Flair locks in the Figure Four near the ropes, and is hanging onto top for leverage. All legal in this last man standing match. Triple H taps, but the match doesn’t end on a submission. Flair finally releases the hold and the ref starts the count. Both men back up, and back at it. The steps have now made their way into the match, and Triple H levels Flair in the face with them. Holy shit. That was a ridiculously stiff and intense shot Flair took from those steps. Both men back at it, trading chops, WOOOO, and punches, and more chops, WOOOOO! Triple H nails the pedigree on Flair out of nowhere. Ref starts the count. Flair makes it to his feet by 9. Triple H back on Flair right away, hits ANOTHER pedigree on the Nature Boy. Ref starts the count again. Flair back to his feet by 8, and gives Triple H the middle finger the whole way up. Triple H back on Flair, and BAM! A THIRD pedigree on Flair. Ref starts the count. Triple H looks on, as a bloody Ric Flair is moving, and back up. Triple H goes under the ring, and comes back with the sledgehammer. Triple H starts Flair in the ring, and NAILS him in the back of the neck with the sledgehammer. Referee starts the count…. and Flair doesn’t move. 10 count. Your Winner: TRIPLE H
Review : I give this match a 3.9 out of 5. Overall a fantastic match. But Flair’s age was really starting to show, and the match seemed to drag at points. Lots of Triple H looking strong, and Flair showing his fortitude. The match told a great story, but lacked the fast paced and raw intensity to make me give the match a 4 or higher. Flair looked great don’t get me wrong… for his age. Loved the crimson mask, and dirty tactics. Classic Flair match. And just another Triple H match.
WWE Title Match – John Cena vs Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle has his own special referee in this match, Daivari. Lots of hamming it up with Kurt Angle and Daivari’s friendship. Match starts off fast and hot. Crowd is hype! Loudest of the night so far. Angle gets the upper hand, and special guest referee Daivari cheers him on. Cena now has the upperhand, and throws a nice fisherman suplex, makes the cover and Daivari won’t make the count. Angle out of nowhere snaps in the ankle lock, while Cena is yelling at Daivari for not counting. Cena fights towards the ropes, Angle drags him back to the center. Cena gets the ropes, and Daivari kicks his hand off. Cena back up, spinebuster on Angle, now Cena comes at Daivari. Daivari is going to disqualify Cena, but Angle stops him so he can still win the WWE title. Match goes to the outside and Kurt Angle nails a HUGE belly to belly suplex on Cena on the concrete floor. Angle throws Cena back inside, Daivari is down, so in comes another ref. The crowd is going nuts. “LETS GO ANGLE!” and “LETS GO CENA” is thundering throughout the Joe Louis Arena. And again Kurt Angle with a beautiful overhead belly to belly suplex. This match is really looking stiff and good on camera. The crowd is now extrememly loud and cheering on John Cena. Angle stops that by cutting of Cena, and showing off more of his wrestling skills with a variation of a single leg boston crab and STF combo. Cena is about to nail his finisher, but Kurt Angle blasts the referee instead. Another ref is out. Angle back with the advantage. Angle to the top, and attempts a beautiful moonsault, but Cena rolls out of the way. Crowd goes nuts. Amazing spot by Angle. Angle back up, and attacks the other referee. Now he tries to get Daivari back in. Angle tries to stop Charles Robinson from making his way in. Cena DDT’s Daivari. Robinson makes his way in, and so does Angle, out of nowhere Cena hits the F.U (attitude adjustment) on Angle. Charles Robinson counts the pinfall, and John Cena retains his WWE Title.
Review: I give this match a 3.2 out of 5. The match told a good story. Lots of great spots and stiff moves by both guys. But the match seemed very short and rushed. Could have had a lot more wrestling, and not so much referee drama. Quick finish. Crowd loved it. Even 9 years ago, it was still a very Cena-esque match.
Survivor Series Match – Team Smackdown (Batista, JBL, Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton) vs Team RAW (Shawn Michaels, Carlito, Chris Masters, Big Show, Kane)

Out of nowhere though, HBK levels Mysterio with Sweet Chin Music. 1,2,3 and Rey is eliminated. In comes JBL and he catches some Sweet Chin Music as well. 1,2,3 and Michaels elimiates JBL as well. Its down to one man from each team. Randy Orton and Shawn Michaels. Orton stalks HBK who has collapsed in the ring after that burst that had him eliminate both me. HBK up, and Orton rolls to the outside, but HBK charges and leaps over the top and lands on Orton, both men crash to the floor. They are back in the ring. HBK chops away at Orton, Running fore arm from Michaels. HBK is feeling it, clotheslines to Orton. One after another, and then a body slam on Orton. Michaels taunts JBL, but here comes Orton out of nowhere with the RKO!! 1, 2…and 3!! Randy Orton wins the match for Team SmackDown.
Review: I give this match a 4.1 out of 5. Great match for a Survivor Series match. You were able to clearly see the story being told through out. Showed off all the men in the match well. Lots of fast paced action, and unpredictable spots. Everyone looked solid and came off strong. Side Note, Bobby Lashley had won a “play in” match on SmackDown to enter the match. The PPV was just a few days or weeks after the passing of Eddie Guerrero, and I believe Lashley took his spot in the main event. The crowd at one point chanted Thank you Eddie when Rey Jr came out. After the match, Orton is in the ring celebrating, and boom… here comes the gong… you know what that means… some lightning strikes and the Undertaker’s music blares. Here comes the dead man out of a burning coffin and he makes his way to the ring and lays out Randy Orton. Nice spot to finish the match. They had been pushing the fact that Orton was the last man standing in 3 straight Survivor Series matches, so came off good to have Taker show up and lay him out.
