Monday Night Raw Opening

I tried a website to watch the show, the higher resolution one has already been taken down. Don’t worry though, there is still a link to the show last night!

We open with a video package showing Ambrose winning at Battleground and Monday Night Raw not having the World Title on their brand.

We then get a NEW ENTRANCE SONG!!! YES!! I don’t care if it is better or worse, it’s different!!! It’s got the new roster and the new logo! Also the announcers are Nitro style. We got Byron Saxton, Corey Graves and Michael Cole.

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the ring

• Foley introduces us to the entire Raw roster… There are like two or three people I forgot about that are on the roster, Alicia Fox and maybe some people I don’t recognize.
• Stephanie says Roman lost the championship match and now Raw doesn’t have a champion.. She says Seth had it won until Roman screwed it up. She called him a loser. This is the first Raw ever she says, that doesn’t have a champion.
• Foley said him and Stephanie decided that tonight there will be 8 men competing in 2 matches. The winners will face in the main event. The winner of that match will go on to face Seth Rollins at Summerslam for the NEW CHAMPIONSHIP…
• The new title is named “The WWE Universal Championship”???
• The competitors are named: Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Chris Jericho, Cesaro, Roman Reigns, Rusev, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor… WOW. Finn got quite a reaction and chant.
• Stephanie asks Charlotte to step forward. It’s weird that now with the Universal Championship, Raw has a World Title, Mid-Card Title, Woman’s Title, and Tag Title… Poor Smackdown!
• Charlotte is told she has to defend the title against Sasha Banks tonight!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!

And I’m Like… That was sweet, they told us what is going to happen and how it is important. Not a fan of the new title name, but am a fan of the matches and participants to get into the title match. Everything went smoothly and am super excited for Sasha and Charlotte.

Fatal Four Way for Number One Contender Opportunity

Cesaro vs. Rusev vs. Kevin Owens vs. FINN BALOR!!

• Finn’s first Raw entrance… This is dope!!!
• IT SAYS BALOR CLUB!!!

• A little upset at the camera work because you don’t get that sweet shot where everyone puts their hands up to his entrance.. Cole runs down his credentials and talks about how Balor cleaned toilets for his young boy training in Japan, he started from the bottom.
• This has NXT dripping all over it. Cesaro made guest appearances and was part of the first Takeover.
• Bell rings and the battles start. The camera cuts are very very quick and fast, it’s almost dizzying.
• All four men are battling on the outside of the ring now. I have come to notice how often this generation wrestles on the outside of the ring. I am kind of begging for one match to not go to the outside.. Maybe a technical/scientific match. Maybe a wrestler whose wrestling style is in ring based.
• Owens and Balor keep matching up and Owens is so condescending. Owens does a belittling ‘too sweet’ hand taunt and tells Balor that “you should have stayed in NXT”
• Rusev and Owens have chosen to take out Cesaro and Balor. Rusev goes to pin Cesaro and Owens says “I am standing right here, let’s stay on him though”. Owens talks amazing trash in the ring!
• Owens is kind of the star of this match so far, he does this beautiful cross body reversal where he catches Finn, swings Balor around to Owens back, then hits that Finley finisher, The Celtic Cross.
• Cesaro attempts to swing Owens after an uppercut train but Rusev stops it. They fight each other to the outside and Finn sees his opportunity to jump to the outside onto all three men. The crowd is loving this dude. Way to debut my man.
• Finn has shown he is a high flyer, then he hit Cesaro with tons of strikes to prove his brawling, and we have seen his wrestling ability.
• We have had two commercial breaks and the action has never slowed down. We came back from break with Rusev powerbombing Owens and Cesaro who were superplexing Finn Balor.
• “This is Awesome” from the crowd, making Finn start an awesome streak for his first match.
• We are to the point where everyone is hitting their signatures and getting nearfalls after each move.
• Owens caught Balor with a Pop-Up Powerbomb and Cesaro stopped the count. That could have been it.
• Cesaro flipped out of back body drop counter to his Neutralizer and follwed that up with his gorgeous springboard spinning eurocut.
• Rusev stops the swing again and starts looking crazy psychotic. Owens is put in the Accolade and Rusev looks to have a legit chance to win.
• That is until Cesaro powers Rusev up in a suplex. That was an amazing feat of strength.
• Cesaro rolled through Rusevs Accolade and got a two count. Rusev pops up and superkicks Cesaro who bounces of the ropes with a desperation lariat and both men are down. The other two are on the outside.
• I noticed Raw is doing that camera shot NXT is known for where the camera glides across the bottom of the ropes and gives Raw a new perspective.
• Cesaro is able to do a swinging sharpshooter on Rusev but Owens comes in and stops that shit!!
• Cannonball by K.O. but Balor hits a Shotgun Dropkick and then a Slingblade to Owens and a dropkick to Rusev and a Coup de gras on Rusev… FOR THE WIN.

And I’m Like… Fuckin Finn you guys!! He didn’t even have his Demon persona either. That match was non-stop and everyone got their shit in in a way that made sense. I really enjoyed that match, let’s hope that Raw keeps this streak going!! Wow what a fantastic opening to Raw.

Nia Jax vs. Brit Baker

• Nia Jax is awesome, hopefully she gets that viciousness we have grown accustomed to.
• Nia faces some girl that hasn’t been on TV in my memory. She destroys her. Yells at her smacks her, tree of woe’s her and hip checks her.
• The crowd is kind of quiet but it’s more that they are in awe of her.
• Nia hits a leg drop and could have gotten the three but picked Brit up headbutted her and then another leg drop for the win!!

And I’m Like… I am cool taking it slow and steady with Nia. She needs to devlop her presence on Raw and with the Raw audience before we get invested in her and her abilities. She looked pretty damn proud.

Tom Phillips interviews Sasha about her match tonight. Sasha says she thrives on pressure and she finally gets to expose Charlotte. Sasha has a weird cadence. She speaks really fast then slowly emphasizes some words. Also some creeper is in the background. Also Sasha debuted a new catchphrase “It’s about to get lit “.

Fatal Four Way for Number One Contender Opportunity

Sheamus vs. Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns

• It’s weird that two Irishmen are involved in this title opportunity.
• As each man makes their entrance the announce team is brilliant at telling us who these wrestlers are, what they are about, and what their motivations are. That is a great way to get you ready to make a decision on these wrestlers.
• As the bell rings we get another new camera angle that is bad ass.
• The match starts with both heels attacking Roman Reigns as Sami stands back and watches what is going on. Then Sami jumps in with Sheamus and Jericho to beat down Roman to cheers from the crowd.
• Reigns is taken out and then Jericho and Sheamus team up against Zayn.
• Zayn fights both guys to the outside, then Zayn did his seated springboard flip taunt, which last night when he tried he mistimed the flip and landed on his neck. Tonight the flip looked faster than normal but he landed on his feet.
• Roman sneaks in and takes Sami down to a chorus of boo’s. Roman seems to look angrier and his strikes seem meaner.
• I can’t believe he isn’t a bad guy, he wrestles like a dag gum bad guy.
• He starts punching Sami in the back of the head and Sami fakes Reigns out and sends Roman to the outside.
• Sheamus is able to catch Sami and do the 10 beats of the bowery. Now we are getting to the signature spotfest part of the match.
• Roman even busts out an Undertakeresque jump over the top rope onto his opponents. The crowd reacts with some boo’s.
• Everyone is attacking everyone and no one really has an advantage for more than a move or two. That is until Roman starts in with his moves of doom, the clotheslines, flying clotheslines, samoan drops, drive by drop kicks and corner clotheslines.
• Sami ends the rampage of Roman by hitting a Blue Thunder Bomb. That gets a two count and Sami can not believe it. Roman is all BELIEVE THAT!
• Roman counters the Helluva kick with the sitout cross powerbomb. Sami kicked out because dude is resilliant as hell. Females and childrens are chanting “Roman”.
• Corey calls the sitout cross powerbomb the “Niagra Driver”.
• Sami hits a Helluva kick on Sheamus after Sheamus Brogue Kicked Roman. As Jericho and Sami both try to pin Sheamus as the crowd loudly chants “ole”.
• Sheamus almost got the win after breaking up the Walls of Jericho.. Now every guy has almost legit won it.
• Roman gets a head of steam and Superman Punches everyone in the match. Jericho tries to codebreak Roman but Roman botches a Superman Punch, picks Jericho up and does it again.
• Reigns howls for a spear but Jericho counters with a Codebreaker. Roman kicked out and the crowd is hot as hell for this.
• Reigns leapfrogs over a running Jericho and hits the spear for the win..

And I’m Like… This is interesting. Finn was cheered so loudly and now he is going up against Roman Reigns… How is that going to get people to cheer Reigns? I wonder if there will be a heel turn… I wonder if Roman is already heel. Like, in 2016, if your a non-stop machine that wins and is force fed to you, you boo that guy. Maybe WWE knows this and they now book their heels like faces and their faces like heels… Wrestling is weird.

New Day Tag Team Championship Record Breaking Party

• New Day is at day 337 of their tag title reign.. I don’t know if they added prestige to the belts or not.. I should remember more of their matches and segments but my memory don’t work that way.
• Big E makes jokes about what happened 337 days ago… He even makes a lesbian joke. Says Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Garner should be married.
• We then see a New Day video package.. it is like Jack Handy type stuff . We go through all of their catch phrases and segments..
• This video package is filtered with a sad pop song in the background, it feels like New Day died.
• New Day picks a person to be the honorary member of the New Day.. Someone in the crowd. I wonder if it’s a plant or not. They find a black guy in New Day gear that was in front row… I think it’s a plant… Like not a plant like Mitch, more a plant like he was hired for this segment.
• Sonny Boy keeps saying his name is Sonny Boy and New Day don’t believe him….
• Sonny Boy gets a chant from the crowd too.
• They start dancing and Gallows and Anderson show up, they start destroying The New Day!! Good stuff.
• Gallows and Anderson take out The New Day and walk over to Sonny Boy.. Big Sonny Boy chant breaks out.
• The club scares him half to death as the segment ends.

And I’m Like… Congratulations to the New Day.. Hope they lose to Gallows and Anderson now!!

Curtis Axel vs. Neville

• Axel’s nickname is “Mr. Irrelevant”
• Curtis was picked last in the draft but he says “they save the best for last”
• The announcers hope the fans remember who Neville is and Corey says it might as well be a new roster because Neville basically has to start all over.
• Axel is wrestling smart, keeping Neville grounded and doing a lot of rest holds to wear Neville down.
• Neville is still strong as hell with the deadlift German suplex. Neville isn’t getting much of a reaction though. Once the Red Arrow hits the crowd is loud though.

And I’m Like… That was needed to remind us who Neville is and how he does flippy do’s. Not much else to type.

WWE Woman’s Championship Match

Charlotte (c) w/ Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks

• Both girls are breathing heavily… making me think they are nervous.
• Super aggressive collar and elbow by the ladies and they break apart with no advantage, they lock up again and Sasha brings Charlotte down, then the girls collar and elbow to the ground, they stand back up while never breaking the tie-up. That is a very hard thing to do.
• Charlotee went for a single leg takedown and Sasha was able to reverse it to a pin. These girls are taking a while to get the feeling out process out of the way.
• Once Charlotte threw a forearm on a distracted by Dana, Sasha.
• Banks gets upset and puts a seated straightjacket hold on Charlotte which hurts my back thinking about what Charlotte is going through.
• Charlotte rolls to the outside and Sasha hits a suicide dive, then the diving crotch attack where Sasha lands on her knees to the outside…. OUCH!
• Charlotte is moving in a stagger, selling the fact that this is a hard fought match. She kicks Sasha very stiff and Sasha flies into the barricade.
• SASHA PULLED AN EDDIE GUERRERO!!!! She throws the belt at Dana and falls down.. The ref looks and sees Dana with the belt so he throws Dana out of the match!! LOVE IT!!.
• She smiles and waves at Dana!

• We come back from commercial and Sasha has bother her arms being pulled back by Charlotte. Sasha fights back and hits a flying headscissors like she is high flyer from AWA.
• Sasha hits the double knees again.. I really worry about how long her knees will stay healthy by continually doing that move.
• Both ladies are down and start getting up at the count of 7. We get a yay/boo spot
• The crowd is IN. To. THIS. MATCH!!
• Sasha does her Lorraine Johnson knees in the corner move..
• Charlotte goes for a suplex, Sasha flips over and attempts a neckbreaker. Charlotte stops the momentum and hits a neckbreaker of her own.
• Charlotte does a moonsault, Sasha moves and Charlotte lands on her feet like a true athlete.
• Sasha runs at Charlotte while Charlotte is on the outside.. Sasha lands like she broke her body in half!! She was the aggressor but hit Charlotte too high and Banks’ heels touched the back of her head.
• Charlotte clubs Sasha in the back and does a superplex but there is a fight in mid air and Charlotte drops Sasha on the top rope belly first… Sasha falls to the outside…
• HOLY SHIT!!!!

• Charlotte lands!! That gets “Holy Shit” chants from the crowd… This is a fantastic match, it has story, it has high spots, it has fearless risky spots, there are scary body bending jumps, there is smart wrestling, the crowd is into it, innovative move sets, homages to past wrestlers. EVEN A ROPE GRAB after a Natural Selection.
• Charlotte puts Sasha in the figure four and Sasha starts punching Charlotte’s knee and slapping Charlotte’s face!! Charlotte goes for a Figure Eight but Sasha reverses it and they have roll out of the ring. Charlotte puts a figure four on Sasha while Charlotte is positioned out of the ring and using gravity as pressure.
• Charlotte goes back in the ring and attempts a figure four again, Sasha reverses it with a roll through, Charlotte tries to carry the momentum but Sasha rolls with Charlotte and locks in THE BANKSTATEMENT. Charlotte rolls it into a pin but Sasha rolls with her again to HOLD THE MOVE!!
• Charlotte got her foot on the ropes. Charlotte gets mad now screaming at Sasha “You will never beat me…EVER”

• She runs at Banks and Sasha hits the BANKSTATEMENT AGAIN!! THIS MATCH IS CRAZY GOOD! CHARLOTTE TAPS!! CHARLOTTE TAPS!!! SASHA IS THE NEW CHAMPION!!! FUCKING YES!! FUCKING OH MY GOD!! OHMYGOD OMIGOD!!!!
• THIS FUCKING MATCH!! She is wearing her emotion on her sleeve. The crowd is on their feet.. LEGIT ON THEIR FEET!!
• Corey Graves says “the dream of a 10 year old girl realized”
• I can’t stand it you guys!!!! Look at our girl!!

• Byron interviews our girl who is trying to hold her cries in but CRY GIRL!! you deserve that shit!! I can’t get over it!! “YES!” Chants simultaniously with “You deserve it” I am getting goosebumps on goosebumps!!! Sasha is the savior!! I don’t know what else to say.. I’ma listen to her speak.
• “I did it!! This has been my dream since 10 years old. I told everyone I am the BEST. Now this proves it. This is the Era of The Boss. This is the Era of Change. This is the Era of Woman’s Wrestling” Look at her face when that line is delivered.

• That is emotion, pure unbridled emotion. That is passion seeping through a soul. THAT IS WRESTLING!! That is making something of yourself and your dreams. That is perserverance when times were tough and life was tougher. That was deep in your heart knowing this is the only thing you want in life. That is pride.. So much pride it overwhelms you and makes you want to cry. Tears of Joy brought on by years of frustration. That is acceptance.
• She continues “and I promise you EVERYTIME I STEP IN THIS RING…. (YES! chants from the crowd) I promise you I WILL SHOW why I am champion and I will show you why I am The Boss.”

And I’m Like… What the hell man?!?! What is going on.. This came out of nowhere and this blew the roof off the place and every home watching Raw. I don’t have words for this. Sasha has been my all time favorite wrestler for over 3 or 4 years… She fucking did it!! She beat Charlotte like we have been clamoring for for over a year. Man this is why I am a fan. I am ecstatic!! That match and moment was fantastic and will be in my memories forever.

Braun Strowman vs. James Ellsworth

• James is interviewed by Saxton while Braun walks to the ring. The mic is only for those at home and it was different and I liked it!! Do more of that.
• Braun walks to James and Ellsworth punches Strowman who no sells the punches.
• This is such a destructive match. For sure the match we need to calm down after that barn burner.
• Reverse Chokeslam by Strowman for the win.. Good finisher for Braun.

And I’m Like… That was something to wash down the greatness that was Sasha and Charlotte. Braun is a forced to be reckoned with. Interesting to see where this will go.

Golden Truth has been walking around back catching Pokemons.

Enzo and Cass vs. Shining Stars

• Enzo says Monday Night got a little more Raw. He then sings I like it Raw . Cass says he likes Raw egg whites…
• Shining Stars come out and they saw Puerto Rico has Raw beauty.
• Primo and Epico already are in charge of Enzo Amore.
• The crowd will not be in this because Shining Stars ain’t gon beat The Realest Guys in the Room.
• Cass gets tagged in quickly and hits his moves of doom. There is a bit where Golden Truth walk through the match trying to catch Pokemons.

And I’m Like… That was a squash, that was Enzo and Cass getting their shit in.

Roman and Finn talk in the back stage about being Samoan and Irish… Finn looks like Suede Thompson .

Number 1 contender match for the WWE Universal Championship

Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns

• If Finn wins, we see the Demon at Summerslam right?
• Roman comes out to boo’s and more boo’s.
• The match starts and Roman tosses Finn across the ring like a little boy would be tossed into the deep end by his father to teach him how to swim.
• Roman is wrestling heel, that is strange.. There are strikes and chokes and a certain viciousness that looks like every move harms Balor.
• Roman lays in about 20 clotheslines in the corner that basically knocks Finn out. Roman is a bad guy tonight.
• Finn kicked out and Roman was holding his leg while both men were getting to their feet. Balor is trying to figure out how to stop Roman, the guy has endurance and can hit big moves all night.
• Roman even does a rest hold to Balor.. He is begging to get boo’d with these heel tactics.
• Roman rolls up Finn in a schoolboy, Finn doesn’t kick out, Roman just lifts Balor so the one armed powerbomb looks like it makes sense and is devastating.
• Balor kicked Roman in the face and Reigns toppled to the outside. Balor then soccerball kicked Roman in the face!!
• This match is pure basic storytelling. Roman is the bad guy, Finn is the good guy. Roman does cheap tricks, Finn overcomes them and proves he is better.
• Roman is trying to brawl out of a hold Finn has on.. an gets Slingbladed.
• Reigns sold his facial expressions of anger and joy.. Then he crawls to Finn with a smile. Balor hits a victroy roll for two and a half.
• Roman sets up the spear but Balor hit the spear followed by a shotgun drop kick and he hit the coup de gras… AND WON!!!!!

And I’m Like… Finn is going to Summerslam?…. FINN IS GOING TO SUMMERSLAM!!!! That match was alright, it would hace been better if I hadn’t been falling asleep.

Hey you guys, I was reviewing Pro Wrestling Battleground so am starting a bit late to Raw. Let’s not chit and chat, let’s get RAW.

Monday Night Raw Opening

• Dean Ambrose is halfway through his entrance and we have Jericho, Zayn, ADR, Cesaro and Kevin Owens sitting on top of ladders in the ring…
• Owens says Lillian doesn’t need to introduce people because “we are all big stars, except for Sami.”
• Jericho says he is the most famous person in the arena tonight. Owens finishes Jericho’s catchphrase because “you say it every week”
• Everyone is on the ladder differently. Ambrose is sitting on it saddle style. Jericho changes positions and ends with being cross legged, Owens is leaning on the ladder, Sami Zayn is standing straight on the ladder with a little lean, Cesaro is straight up and down and Del Rio is Captain Morgan style with one leg higher in a weird stance.
• Sami establishes that Sami will fight anyone and Owens won’t. Ambrose said he would fight a Polar Bear, mole people, and an alien.
• Del Rio says Owens will never be champion because compared to Del Rio he is just a dog covered in fleas. He calls Sami a paper boy because of his hat.
• Cesaro speaks 5 languages and knows what ADR said. As he started talking Jericho told Cesaro to shut his mouth.
• Jericho and Sami argue about if Y2J won the MITB match or not. Jericho says he won the sixth MITB match and Sami calls him out on his lies. Jericho invented the match but never won.
• There is some weird banter that has Kevin Owens looking bored. “Stupid Idiot” from the crowd and Jericho says “I know you are but what am I”
• All six guys were pretty much done so Jericho told us about “The Gift of Jericho” and to “drink it in man”. I LOVE HIS DELIVERY!
• Then everyone brawls until Cesaro taunts in the ring and

Teddy Long Comes Out

• Teddy dances and starts talking over a “Teddy” chant. Teddy says he got the word that Smackdown! is going live and he screwed up “longest running weekly episodic” he said “longest running wrestling show”
• Teddy said if he was the General Manager, he would make a fatal-four-way triple threat six man ironman match or something.. then said there must be a winner.

Stephanie McMahon came out

• Steph told Teddy he doesn’t make sense and she isn’t his baby girl. He asks for Shane.
• Steph tells Teddy Shane won’t be there. Teddy starts “getting to stepping” and Steph makes sure we don’t play Teddy’s music.
• She then says “holla holla holla” then says that we can hit Teddy’s music as she dances.

And I’m Like… That was some weird shit… Being on ladders made sense but made no sense. It made sense because ladder matches, but then it’s like…. they are on ladders? If wrestling wasn’t scripted, how does this work? Vince is like “YOU GOTTA DO IT ON LADDERS!! TALK ON LADDERS!!” and all the guys were like WELP OK!! I don’t know it was weird, it didn’t get me excited for the event or anything. I don’t remember seeing anything like it, at the same time, I can understand why. Having Teddy come back and being all R-Truth crazy was weird too…. He just comes out and starts talking. He reminds me of some of my regulars.

Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho

• We come back from break with Jericho in charge. JBL talks about the fatal-four-way-triple-threat-ironman-six pack challenge.
• Cole said Teddy was pining for a job.
• Cesaro does his multiple kip-up move and then is able to hit Jericho with a back breaker to gain control.
• I don’t think Jericho is gonna win. Cesaro I’m not so sure, but I do know he would look cool as hell with a briefcase.
• Cesaro also has more tape on him now, he has it on his left shoulder and his right shoulder. I hope he isn’t re-aggravating his shoulder because he came back too early.
• Jericho is able to catch Cesaro in mid-air with a drop kick to send us to commercial.
• We come back from break and Jericho’s Irish Whip gets reversed by a Eurocut from Cesaro.
• Cesaro starts his Eurocut Express but Jericho is able to reverse one with a backslide.
• Watching Cesaro wrestle, every few times he stiffens his injured arm up and it looks like it isn’t doing to good. He got a near fall on Jericho and rubbed his injured shoulder. He has to be injured but he is still wrestlin baller ass matches.
• Cesaro went for a springboard Eurocut but Jericho got him with a Codebreaker. Cesaro rolled out of the ring to save some energy and gain some strength.
• Jericho brings him in the ring and goes for a pin but only gets two.
• Cesaro Everest Superplexes Jericho after a slap to the face for two.
• These guys are having a good match and we are getting into the multiple nearfall range. JBL is freaking out over the Everest Superplex by saying how hard it is to accomplish.
• Jericho and Cesaro have a nice sequence where Cesaro attempts a Neutralizer but Jericho fights out of it and transitions into the Walls of Jericho. Cesaro counters that by spinning with Jericho and rolling 360 degrees. Cesaro is able to turn that into a BIG SWING and turns THAT into a Sharpshoter which makes Jericho tap out!! WHEW!

And I’m Like… That match was fun, kind of meaningless but fun. There were a few spots that made the match. The finishing sequence, the counters of the signature moves. They hit all the right buttons, really hope Cesaro’s shoulder is getting better and not worse.

Two Part Journey- Seth Rollins Point of View

• Seth said he told everyone everywhere, even the Shield, that he wants to be the best of all time.
• We go to 2012 when The Shield debuted. They took over the industry.
• “I said I wanted to be THE best of all time, not one of the best”
• He said he took the next step because there is only room for one guy on the top of the mountain. “People misunderstand my relationship with Roman. I don’t dislike Roman he is just at the wrong place at the wrong time”
• He says it’s questionable to say he ruined Roman’s Wrestlemania moment. “I didn’t give a damn about his future, I cared about mine”
• Seth says this industry is harsh and unforgiving. He landed wrong and said that everything he dreamt about was gone in a second.
• We see videos of Seth doing matches as a kid. A day after surgery he says give me a few months and the whole game is going to change.
• He didn’t like having to sit in the box at Wrestlemania. He said he hated being there just walking around. He said it was the fuel to his fire and he was obsessed with the belt.
• Seth says Roman is just a place holder for the title because Seth is getting his throne back.
• Rollins says we weren’t there when he was rehabbing his knee everyday twice a day. He doesn’t need us, he needs the title.
• “I want to prove to the world that I am better than Roman Reigns”

And I’m Like… That was cool! I don’t get how people can boo Seth for working so hard to come back and having such strong convictions for his beliefs. I can’t imagine how Roman will beat Seth outside of a underwhelming spear finish. I can’t see how Seth is gonna win either. VERY EXCITING!!

Rusev w/ Lana wearin a choker vs. Jack Swagger

• Cole says that this Money in the Bank is gonna be “the greatest Money in the Bank in comapny history”
• Jack Swagger comes out to a huge pop because he is the hometown boy. Too bad WWE loves to crush dreams like Rusev loves to crush in general.
• OH MY GOD!! Rusev ain’t a playa he just crush alot.
• Titus O’Neil is on commentary and says that Rusev is a tremendous athlete and is impressive.
• Swagger has yet to get any offense in, that is sad. Rusev is doing ALL THE WORK!
• Titus said Byron and his tie looks like a curtain. Byron don’t acknowledge it.
• Rusev and Swagger are running hard and hitting clotheslines and elbows.
• As Rusev runs at Swagger, Jack is able to slam Rusev for two.
• Swagger has the Patriot Lock on Rusev but Rusev is able to kick Swagger off.
• Rusev goes outside and Swagger goes on the other side. Swagger and Rusev run and SMACK each other with a STIFFF clothesline.
• They both try to get in the ring but Rusev pushes Swagger into Titus O’Neil and slides into the ring.
• Rusev won by countout, Swagger is poor loser attacker and jumps Rusev after the bell.
• Titus and Swagger beat up Rusev and “We The People” the crowd.

And I’m Like… This is a good feud so far, I mean it’s about Rusev saying he is representing America and Titus disagreeing. I don’t know where Swagger fits in outside of losing all the time. I am kind of looking forward to this match, even though I am leaning on a Rusev retention.

John Cena Promo

• Cena talks into the camera and says “D-Day, Never Forget”. He also has an American Flag design on his back pocket.
• So far Cole has called Rollins vs. Reigns “a Wrestlemania type match” also Styles and Cena is now “a Wrestlemania type dream match” they are really trying to push for this pay per view. That’s good but different
• Cena has to start a “Let’s go Cena/Cena Sucks” chant…. He did it, it wasn’t organic. He did the “some of ya like me/ some of ya don’t” then he made everyone do “Let’s go Cena/ AJ Styles”
• Cena says he only has had electricity like that with only one other man “The Rock” he is selling us that AJ and Cena is the biggest match we can see. It’s like Sting and Undertaker or Goldberg and Austin.
• Cena says he wants AJ to splain.

AJ comes out with The Good Brothers

• and they are standing on the ramp instead of in the ring. I’ve noticed heels don’t normally go to the ring.
• Cena said Gallows and Anderson are from “the pull it club”
• AJ says his plan was to punch Cena in the face. AJ says he is insulted. He says he doesn’t star in good movies but his cameos are good.
• AJ says Cena is good on the mic but he is insulted everytime the bell rings. “John, even on your best day, you can’t beat me”
• Styles says he tells his kids that Cena don’t want to wrestle him is because he would run circles around Cena.
• Cena says AJ had 15 years to come up with Cena disses and he says the same thing everyone does.
• Styles is wrapping Owens/Bryan/Punk storyline all in one.
• Cena points out all of Styles losses and calls him a bust. Said he isn’t phenomenal he is desperate. “you couldn’t get past a fight with Roman Reigns and now your messing with John Cena?”  Thorwing shade at Reigns.
• Styles says he isn’t desperate because he can go anywhere in the world. Desperate is not being able to leave one company.
• Cena is trying to nerf Styles and AJ says “guys like you bury guys like me” He said The Good Brothers make sure his head stays above ground. AJ says Cena has no idea who he is dealing with.
• THIS IS GOOD!!!
• Cena is saying stuff that his fans will love to hear and that AJ fans will hate about Cena, they are afraid Cena will dominate and make their guy look like a fool ala Daniel Bryan. Then Styles is talking about how if he beats Cena he belongs ala Owens. Styles is the voice for the world traveler and indie guy, fighting through the preconceived notions of the establishment ala Punk.
• The Club comes to the ring to take Cena down and New Day come out to make the save..

And I’m Like… WHHHHAAATT? I know New Day and The Club were feuding but that shocked me. It went from 3 on 1 to 4 on 3. Cena was complaining about uneven numbers when he was against the odds but now everything cool. Cena can stand to lose at Money In The Bank but after this promo AJ can’t. This is honestly make or break for AJ. Cena cut his balls off a bit during that segment but they can grow back 10 times the size if Styles wins decisively.

The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo and Cass

• “float like a butterfly sting like a bee, get at these pansys like a certified g” Enzo does a rap in the vein of Ali and ends it with “dream of beating us and you better wake up and apologize”
• I wanna see Cena and Enzo have a rap battle.
• Gotch and Enzo start the match and Enzo is imedieatley beaten into the corner as Gotch tags English.
• Gotch tags back in after some punches and double team move.
• JBL says “Gotch… Frank Gotch trained Antonio Inoki for his fight with Muhammad Ali, the first MMA match”.
• The crowd is kinda dead and English throws Enzo into the ropes and he attempts to do the same type of move that gave Enzo the concussion.. Enzo sold it like it was the same and it seemed like I don’t know, wrong?
• Cass thought so too and started going at English and attacking and attacking. The ref tried to take Cass off of English but Cass wouldn’t stop with the stomps. So he got disqualified.
• Cass then beat the crap out of Gotch and the crowd didn’t react really because if you don’t have commentary or pay attention to months of mid-card tag wrestling you wouldn’t understand the significance of that match.

And I’m Like… That was a story not a match but it was a match. That put over Cass as an angry monster when protecting his friends. That spot looked similar too, but English threw Enzo not Gotch so I wonder why they chose to switch throwers. Interesting to see where this will go. Will the Villians become afraid or weak? will the exact revenge?

Stephanie McMahon is wearing a choker too now… as she talks to Teddy Long asking him how he got into the building. He shows her money and says Dolla Dolla and Holla Holla. She says he is crazy. She then takes Teddy’s idea of a fatal-four way tag match for the titles at Money in the Bank. New Day vs. The Club vs. Enzo and Cass vs. Vaudevillains…

Alberto Del Rio vs. Sami Zayn

• The match starts with Alberto attacking Sami and beating him into the corner, Sami attempts a flying head scissors and hits it. They go to the outside and Sami is able to hit a backflip off of the barricade before commercial.
• Back from break and Zayn is in a chinlock from Del Rio.
• Zayn was turning a different color but was able to fight out enough to hit a cross body from the second rope.
• Del Rio tends to look up at the Money In the Bank briefcase when he is preparing for a signature move.
• Sami, on purpose or not, kicks out by lifting his shoulder and his hand points straight up to the briefcase.
• Sami sets up for the Helluva Kick but Del Rio booted Zayn in the face and puts Sami in the corner. Del Rio ends up hitting a running enziguri to the back of Zayn’s head and he is laid up in the tree of woe.
• Del Rio does the double stomp attempt but Sami is able to pull Del Rio off.
• As Sami pulls himself up, Del Rio pushes Sami into the ring post and that stuns him long enough for Del Rio to hit his stomp from the top rope.

And I’m Like… This match was good but Del Rio doesn’t hit my switch. Zayn always puts on great logical matches. The ending was the smartest Del Rio’s finisher looked. Sami was fighting out of it, then got kicked and pushed into the ring post. I really enjoyed the story to that. Yet again, there wasn’t much reason to have it other than “these guys are wrestling in a match later in the month”

Two Part Journey- Roman Reigns

• Roman says he was the powerhouse in the Shield. The competitive nature of Seth and Roman made them friends.
• Roman said he came in with a team of brothers, now he stands alone. Even though Dean and The Uso’s help him out all the times.
• We see Wrestlemania 31 where Roman lost to Seth Rollins.
• Reigns says “anger is the best motivator”
• Cut to Wrestlemania 32, where Reigns beat HHH for the title.
• They didn’t show any crowd reactions at Mania… I wonder why.
• Roman says everytime Roman was left laying by Seth, it was from a behind attack.

And I’m Like… Seth’s story was about how he always wanted to be the best and he still does, no matter who is in his way. Roman’s is about how Seth is scared of him and he would have won at WM31 it wasn’t for Seth, he won at 32 so it don’t really matter. I am still excited but that Roman thing painted him as pretty entitled and thinknig he is on his lonesome when we all know he has family and friends that’ll back him.

Dean Ambrose vs. Kevin Owens

• This match starts with punches and brawling that quickly goes to the outside.
• Owens threw Ambrose over the announce table. Kevin grabs Byron’s headset and starts talking until Dean attacks Owens.
• They get in the ring and Ambrose attempted Dirty Deeds which is way too soon for that move. Owens isn’t nearly hurt enough.
• This match is a FIGHT! It isn’t much of a scientific match.
• Ambrose does his punches and chop combination, then on a rebound clothesline Owens kicks him in the face.
• Owens set up for a cannonball but Dean hit him with the hardest clothesine I have seen in a while.
• Ambrose was going to the top but Owens kicked the ropes and then Ambrose crotched the rope.
• Owens is able to hit his frog splash outside of the ring, then inside he goes for Pop-Up Powerbomb.
• Ambrose to hits a surprise Dirty Deeds for the win.

And I’m Like… ” That match was great too, problem is, there isn’t any reason for the match other than to have the match and after three of these, my yawns are more frequent and my eyelds or heavy. Ambrose climbs the ladder to do something but Owens came out and threw him off. Owens says the briefcase is his.

Is Darren Young and Bob Backlund in seperate rooms or what? How long do we see these until Darren is great again?

Charlotte Promo

• Charlotte apologizes to the fans of WWE. She says she is sorry “but everything I said needed to be said”
• Charlotte says we don’t understand what it is like to be on top of an industry.
• Charotte said Ric is dead to her in business.
• The crowd What’s her.

Natalya and Becky Lynch

• Nattie and Becky say they don’t believe Charlotte.
• Charlotte told Nattie that NAttie has the biggest trainwreck of a family.
• This is like about how Becky and Nattie say Charlotte is a meanie and Charlotte says no.
• Charlotte, Dana Brooke, Becky, and Nattie get into a brawl that ends with Brooke and Charlotte standing tall.

And I’m Like… Charlotte shouldn’t do segments in front of the crowd for live shows… It ruins all the segments that are supposed to have meaning.

Tyler Breeze vs. R-Truth

• Breeze was shaving Fandango’s back in the pre match promo, and now they have matching gear and hoodies.
• Crazy to think R-Truth used to be NWA champion.
• The match devolves into chaos minutes in to tno reaction from the crowd.

And I’m Like… I DON’T GET THIS!!!

Ok I am putting pictures up the following day and I must have fallen asleep because I do not remember the Dudleyz even being on the show….. Sorry!

Teddy Long comes out and says “it aint’ going down like this.” He restarts the match into a tag match. Security shows up and takes Teddy out.

The match isn’t continuing.

The Club vs. The New Day

• The match starts off as a brawl and Chaos happens.
• Big E was running at Anderson but Karl moved and Big E ran right into the stairs.
• Kofi got hit hard and Xavier got hit with Styles Clash on the outside.
• New Day was out on their feet before commercial.
• We come back from break and New Day is down one Woods… It is gonna be 3 on 2 and I sense a Cena coming out?
• The bell finally rings and Kofi goes after Anderson.
• Anderson brought Kofi to the corner but he fought all The Club members. Big E and Kofi are able to turn the tied and Big E is into this belly-to=belly suplexes.
• E does that splash on the apron and it doesn’t not look like fun.
• The club is keeping Big E at bay by keeping constant pressure.
• E finaly was able to get the tag and Kofi came in like a house of fire. He even screamed “New DAy” bfore his leg drop.
• Styles got hit with S.O.S. and kicked out, then chaos happened until AJ hit Kofi with a beautiful Phenomenal Forearm

And I’m Like… AS The Club beats down New Day, little kids chant for Cena and he comes out. Styles goes to run and he gets away. Cena attacks Gallows ad Anderson and AJ is able to sneak attack Cena. AJ is showing off until Kofi hits a spring board drop kick. I am tired… New Day got rocked but The Club can’t contend with Cena… I am not sure how this will play out.

Well shoot. This would have been up earlier had my DVR worked. I have Raw set as the #1 priority and it still thought I would rather watch Everybody Loves Raymond and The Simpsons instead. I think it’s because I had it on FXX instead of USA so the DVR thought I would want to keep it on the channel it was on. Either way, I missed 2 hours of Raw and had to wait til today to catch it by other means. Instead of watching wrestling on Monday night, I did what any grown man would do. Watched part one of the series finale of Golden Girls. Blanche’s Uncle Lucas (played by one Leslie Nielsen) went on a blind date with Dorothy and they fell in love, they hid it from Blanche. At part two, which I watched today, Dorothy and Lucas got married and moved to Georgia, Blanche was cool with it. That led to the lesser known Golden Palace. With not nearly as good a theme song as the original. If you clicked the hyperlink, sorry, that was Golden Palace’s song.. Here is the good one .

Now that we got all that mantalk out of the way let’s get RAW.

Monday Night Raw Opening

THEY DON’T WANT NONE!!!

• I ain’t scared of it though. AJ Styles is on his way to the ring and we see the Mexican standoff between Roman and AJ and a chair and forearm. That forearm of AJ is so phenomenal that Reigns needs a chair to defend against it.
• AJ sits and waits a bit in the ring, the crowd starts a “AJ Styles” chant and then AJ starts talking… Breathe that shit in AJ!
• AJ says he has heard it at restaurants, airports and social media. He wants to address that he isn’t a liar. He shows us the tweets people have been saying about him and The Club.
• He says he has sold out the Tokyo Dome, he says “for some of you in the WWE Universe that don’t know me, I did not need help to get here”

Roman Reigns Comes Out

• Ok here we go, the boo’s and cheer’s are loud. JBL says “whether you love him or hate him, they are passionate about him”. There is something that bothers me about people that boo Roman. IF you don’t like him, don’t react. WWE loves a reaction, so boo’s are cheer’s and cheer’s are boo’s. Heels and Faces don’t matter, reactions do. IF you really don’t like Reigns you would sit on your hands and be quiet whenever he does anything. Otherwise, just be a part of the show. Most fans that boo Reigns think they can be loud enough to influence the show. We as fans are smart enough to know what is what, so if you like Kevin Owens, buy his damn shirt, but also boo the hell out of him. Bad guys should be boo’s, it is the equivalent to cheers. We love wrestling, and we should help it as best we can.
• Roman calls AJ a liar. Then Reigns says AJ can win all the titles he wants, because he hasn’t won THE title. Roman tells AJ he will be in the Uso’s corner tonight, AJ says he will be in The Clubs corner.
• Roman starts talking and AJ says “I know I know” and spouts off Roman’s catch phrase. Reigns says that “This is the Big Fight, Extreme Rules”, big words from The Big Dog.
• Roman says if he has to put AJ through a table he will. (AJ already put Roman through a table in a normal match) Roman says he will beat AJ within an inch of his life. He then said ass so 15 year old kids think he’s cool.
• Roman calls his group “The Bloodline” which kind of means Dean Ambrose is on the outs right? He is a brother to Roman but not by blood, just by travel.
• Gallows and Anderson come out, Uso’s show up to help Roman, Roman punches AJ. Reigns looks on with a confident smile as the Uso’s just stand there looking menacing while doing the ‘hang loose’ hand symbol..

And I’m Like… I know how I went a bit of a tangent about boo the baddies and stuff, but AJ hasn’t really done anything too bad, he is a shades of grey (gray?) kind of guy. Mostly that was about my anger from that Chicago crowd a few weeks back and just being upset about ‘fans hijacking’ segments. This opening segment was perfectly acceptable and a good build to tonight, the crowd reacted, so everything is peachy!

The Miz comes out with Maryse to be on commentary

Kevin Owens comes out on commentary too.

Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro

• Owens starts speaking French to Maryse and no one knew what to say.
• Cole shows us that Sami inadvertently hit Cesaro with a Helluva kick on Smackdown! which led to their tag loss. Then Miz took out Owens. So we are now here, Cesaro vs. Zayn with Owens and Miz on commentary.
• Zayn and Sami start wrestling and Miz and Owens are yelling over each other, the crowd is yelling “Ole” as well as Cole tries to call the action. CHAOS
• Miz puts over Cesaro as a tremendous creative talent with immense strength. Owens says he doesn’t care about the match and he is gonna walk to the back. Then he throws the Miz into the side of the ring, he tries to walk away but Miz and Owens start brawling in the ring. Owens and Sami start fighting and Cesaro and Miz start fighting. THE BELL RINGS AND its a double DQ

Here Comes THE MONNEEYY!

Shane McMahon comes out to a reaction and tells the crowd that they have all had it with the four wrestlers at ringside. “SHANE O-MAC” chants ring through  the arena. Shane says “what’s up Greensboro”

Shane changes the match.

Sami and Cesaro vs. Owens and The Miz. Owens yells “he is the worst one”

NoBODY DO HER LIKE SHE DO HER!

Steph comes out and says “the better teams would be Cesaro and The Miz vs. Owens and Sami Zayn” based on Smackdown!’s events. We get Yes! chants. Steph says if Owens walks out on Zayn he is out of the match. Shane agrees it is a better idea.

Zayn and Owens vs. Cesaro and Miz

• “Ole” chants happen as Owens and Cesaro are wrestling. Cesaro attempts a Giant Swing but OWens gets to the ropes. Zayn claps and says “great job buddy” sarcastically so Owens shoves Sami to tag him in and yells “GET IN”
• Cesaro does that multiple Kip-Up thing to the delight of the commentators
• Zayn does an armdrag to Cesaro’s taped up arm. Then Miz aggressively tags himself in.
• Zayn was blind tagged by Owens and Owens came in and did a big senton, Zayn stared at Owens until Owens told him to leave the ring. Kevin got a two count, turned to Zayn and said “you standing in the ring like an idiot just cost us the match.”!!!
• Owens was school boyed and kicked out at two. He slap tags Zayn.
• Zayn and Owens keep doing well because they are taking their anger out on their opponents as their anger increases.
• Maryse distracted Zayn and that led to Miz shoving Zayn over the top rope. Miz does a double ax handle and Owens screams “oh your so talented” Cesaro tags in and does a double ax handle and tells Miz “that’s how you do it.”
• Zayn was getting beat on, was able to flip out of Miz’ offense and Owens tagged a falling Sami. Owens comes in from the tag and it’s HOT the crowd is ooh’ing and awe’ing. Not really reacting to Cesaro though.
• That is until he hits his signature moves, then they area all “ooooh OH!” followed by applause.
• Cesaro was overpowering Zayn and Miz blind tagged him in. Cesaro went for the swing, Miz came in and threw Cesaro out of the ring, Miz set up a giant swing, Cesaro came in and hit him with the Skull Crushing Finale. Zayn then hit Miz with a Helluva Kick and won the match as Owens and Cesaro were brawling.
• Owens screams at the ref after superkicking Zayn “I won that match too!”

And I’m Like… THAT WAS FUN!! These guys are using the Intercontinental title as a centerpiece to their feud that is doing nothing but helping the belt. I kinda dig how the IC belt is for the semi established talent that are ushering in the ‘New Era’ what I call the ‘NeXT Generation’ Can’t wait for that match on Sunday!

Jericho is being interviewed by Rene Young. Jericho said Ambrose will apologize for destroying Jericho’s jacket. He said “that jacket means more to WWE than Andre The Giant.” He tells Young to hit the bricks.

We then see those Puerto Rico videos come to fruition.
The Shining Stars vs. Skyler and Hollis

• Primo and Epico, former WWE Tag Team Champions are “finally here” as JBL proclaims. They have flowers with them and say that a wrestling ring “is their island” and when they stand in the ring it transforms into Puerto Rico. They want to reward Skyler and Hollis with a piece of Puerto Rican paradise.
• Their theme song is cool, like Los Matadores music. It just isn’t catchy enough for me!
• Primo is wrestling in trunks now, never seen that before. So it isn’t Skyler and Hollis but it is. On NXT  they are Skyler and Hollis but in WWE they have different names, weird.
• Epico tags in quickly, hits a back suplex, holds on and continues into a German, then holds on and finishes with a brainbuster. He calls that the Tripleta.
• Shining Stars hit their Total Elimination finisher, Shining Star.

And I’m Like… Whatever, they never had good gimmicks, but they always had good matches, so that is fine. They did Shining Star, which pretty much is The Ascension’s finisher, so poor them…

• Raw was being hyped all night that Ambrose “needed to talk to Jericho” then we see Jericho destroying Mitch the Potted Plant. Then Ambrose destroyed Jericho’s ‘iconic’ jacket. Then Jericho put Dean in a Straight Jacket and Codebreaking the man.
• How long before Ambrose has to get a buzz cut? His hairline makes his forehead a 6 head. looking like an Eric Gordon
• Ambrose calls out Jericho. Jericho says “I am not interested in talking to you, I will tell you what you are going to say, and you will do it”
• Jericho says he is a multi-millionaire but $15,000 is still a lot of money. He wants an apology and wants one now!
• Jericho tells the crowd to be quiet as Dean looks around. Ambrose says apologizing is not happening, he challenges Jericho to a match at Extreme Rules.
• Jericho calls Dean a stupid idiot. He said he will take “$15,000 out of your ass” lol which I don’t know how that would work, I am sure it would hurt a lot.
• Dean asked Jericho if he is sure because it is EXTREME RULES! Jericho says “I can see right through you maaaan”
• Jericho says “nobody in this company is crazier than me” He has faced and beaten everyone. Then he runs down his list of accomplishments.
• They showed before this segment, Dean talking to Shane. Jericho does the “gift of Jericho” line where he tells us to drink it in.
• Ambrose says he has a gift for Jericho too.
• “you put me in the hospital Chris, so I am gonna put you in an Asylum. see I talked to Shane McMahon, he said I can have any match I want at Extreme Rules. The first ever Asylum Match. This cage made of twisted rusty steel, I decorated this thing myself”
• The Asylum has it’s own music too. Not the normal cage lowering music, more fast paced horror music. Ambrose delivers a monologue to a psychotic horror film. It is frightening, Ambrose relishes in it. The spotlights strobe a bit and then Ambrose finishes the promo with “you will never be the same again”

And I’m Like… WOW! That kind of gave me anxiety. Asylums are scary places … I would know, I live in Anoka , Minnesota, The Halloween Capital of the World with our very own State Hospital/Insane Asylum where

and having the cage topped with weapons and items used in old asylums only adds to the uneasyness. That should be a roaring good time! That is the most I’ve enjoyed this feud so far.. So far two for two in making me excited for Sunday!

Dana Brooke is walking in the back and makes fun of the guys who have twerked in the back I am sure. She said they need to get in shape and other stuff.

Dana Brooke vs. Becky Lynch

• Where is Sasha tho? I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve seen her.
• It shows last week when Dana attacked Becky from behind and said “playtime is over”
• Dana comes out and has her same entrance and theme song as NXT. She is the same character that we have seen on Wednesday nights. I remember her first match, all she did was do muscle poses, I couldn’t stand her. Her work with Emma in NXT though? Made me a fan.
• Becky is able to shoulderblock Dana and mimics her muscle taunts.
• Dana gets dropkicked out of the ring and was gonna leave until Becky jumped at her, she soved Bex out of the way, and threw her into the barricade.
• Now the brawling starts and Dana is doing stomps, punches, and bow and arrow submissions.
• Dana yells at Charles Robinson “She gives up ref” Charles screams “no she doesn’t” Dana screams at Becky “give up!!”
• Becky is able to flurry back but gets caught in a bodyslam by Dana. Dana then slams Becky’s head to the ground numorous times and gets a near fall.
• Becky hits a few clotheslines and a dropkick that Byron calls “straight fire” Becky does a taunt in the corner, hits a forearm, then a Bexploder and gets one.. two… DANA POWERS OUT!!
• Becky looks like she is debating what to do next, she climbs to the top rope, Dana pulls her into a Fireman’s Carry and scream “You’ve seen this before!” Becky fights out and goes for a sunset roll up, Dana sits down and gets the pin for the win.

And I’m Like… Dana walks to the back and says “whose the winner? whose the winner? me!” and they quick cut to the Chicago Screwjob. That match though? That’s what is needed to introduce new talent. Dana and Becky both got all their shit in and put over Dana’s character as self involved, conceited, and physically aggressive. Becky is good enough that she can bounce back from the loss too!

We are trying to ‘Make Darren Young Great Again’. Bob Backlund asks Darren to tell him the time. Darren pulls out a phone, Bob is confused as to why Young would try and call people. Darren said his phone tells the time, and Bob doesn’t want Darren to bother the operator with a question… Since he said operator… Operator .

Darren and Bob are talking about what to do with technology and how Bob wants to literally do those things. “I don’t care if they call it Einstein do 100 squats” Darren says “right now?” and Bob retorts “make it 200” Young ends it with “whatever it takes” Backlund ends it with repeating “Make Darren Young Great Again”

We cut to Steph and Shane, Shane likes the Darren Young segment, and Steph wants to know why Shane didn’t run the Asylum by her. Shane says “like you didn’t run the tag match by me earlier” The Dudley Boyz enter and they all shake hands. The Dudleyz are trying to remind the McMahons “what guys from the Attitude Era can do for you”. They want some local North Carolina guys and teach them a lesson. Steph says “we aren’t gonna give you a couple of little North Carolina guys” I am thinking it’s because THEY JUST GAVE THEM TO THE SHINING STARS!

Shane says they have to choose which one gets to face Big Cass. Shane is like if Aaron Sorkin wrote for wrestling. Which kinda would be amazing.

No Way Jose sign behind Michael Cole as we see Golden Truth’s video package of the trials and tribulations of becoming a tag team. It is set to some Americana music. Very buddy comedy video montage, like almost a breakup video but it’s a get together video. The story has the friendship, the break up, the reconciliation after they found different partners. It’s like a classic love story but with tag partners. It’s pretty amazing to be honest. I am a pretty big fan of this, the music is cohesive with the storytelling. We now have a random pairing that makes sense and has a story to get together. For real THIS IS FUN!!! Wrestling is so weird

Golden Truth vs. Breezango

• What isn’t fun, R-Truth doing his What’s Up song with lyrics again… and we missed Tyler Breeze’s theme song.
• This is wrestling that has lower card people with a story. “Golden Truth” chants.
• Truth and Fandango are hard hitting, they are really going at it. The crowd is chanting “Breeze is Gorgeous/No He’s Not” and when Fandango and Truth were both on the ground and trying to stand THE CROWD WAS CLAPPING!
• The crowd is reacting to almost all the moves. You guys this angle has people invested and caring about what is happening.
• Truth hit a kick on Goldust on accident, Breeze threw Truth out of the ring and pinned Goldust.

And I’m Like… Legit you guys… I wanna know where this goes, the team just officially started and we already have miscommunication. Fandango and Breeze got a win, the story progresses, and characters are changing. Very cool. Goldust ends up walking in the back and R-Truth says “c’mon dog, c’mon bro, don’t be like that dog” Truth says they need to work out the kinks and get their creative juices going. He wants to get their chop cross “chakra’s” aligned. Truth says “WWE Universe want the Golden Truth” and they legit explode. Fandango and Breeze say “welcome to the New Era, Golden Girls” NO F’N WAY!!! THEY MADE A GOLDEN GIRLS REFERENCE!!! WHAT ARE THE ODDS!!! I am freaking out, During this segment last night I WAS WATCHING GOLDEN GIRLS!! Oh man!!

Let me get over that for a second… Thank you Golden Truth, Thank you for being friends, travel down the road and back again, your hearts are true and your pals and confidants.

New Day Promo

• New Day comes out and talks about their Booty-O’s. They have a big box behind them with a curtain over it. Big E says they face a team from ‘a bygone era’
• Kofi doesn’t get why the bygone era is such a thing, he wants to see it with his own eyes.
• Big E asks Xavier why his keyboard is sticky. Xavier says it’s his “New Daylorean Time Machine
• They go in there, there is beeps and boops and Kofi’s Jamacian music hits. He gets out and does the Boom Boom Boom, he hits his Jamacian accent. He hits all of his old catchphrases . Kofi screams “leave me here 2009 was my best year”
• They don’t have Booty-O’s anymore they have derriere squares. They don’t have smartphones or video games. They said the bygone era sucks. Then try to do a WWE Tag Team Champions hip swivel. Vaudevillains attack New Day!
• Villians take Kofi, hit a neckbreaker/powerbomb combo. Then they throw Xavier into the “refridgerator box/time machine”
• We hear the classic Vaudevillain music as the Villains look strong as hell.

And I’m Like… That will make some sort of top 10 list. That is the PG version of DX doing the Nation of Domination. It was fun! The Villains look strong and the New Day was able to have a blast out there, old Kofi and his 2009 line was fantastic.

Anderson and Gallows w/ AJ Styles vs. The Uso’s w/Roman Reigns

• The match starts with Anderson and an Uso getting some moves in as the announce team talk about “AJ coming to WWE has made him more aggressive” .
• JBL calls out The Funk Brothers as a great tag team to do it big in Japan. Like Miracle Violence Connection among others.
• Anderson is told by Styles to tag Gallows in. Styles is yelling direction like he is a boxing cornerman.
• Gallows and Anderson have cut the ring off and are stomping and headbutting an Uso. As I watch this I kind of want to see a Club vs. Revival rivalry…
• JBL says that 12 years ago he had his one shot against Eddy Guerrero . He said AJ knows this is his one shot on Sunday.
• Gallsows missed a big boot but Anderson tagged in, Anderson went towards an Uso who backbody dropped Karl over the top rope. An Uso tags the other Uso and that Uso flies over the top rope onto Anderson.
• Uso does a diving crossbody and almost got three, so he follows up that nearfall with a Samoan Drop and Samoan hip attack.
• Anderson caught an Uso with a boot to the face on the top turnbuckle and attempts a TOP ROPE SUPERPLEX! Uso fights off, misses a top rope attack, and Uso runs into an Anderson spinebuster in Carolina…!
• Anderson hits a ‘rocket kick’ and went for a second but he got Uso Superkicked. Gallows came in for the save and got Superkicked and double superkicked. Anderson got double superkicked also.
• An Uso hit an Uso splash on Anderson for the win.

And I’m Like… That match was pretty hot and I like how the commentators could not shut up about how important this title match will be, all while AJ and Roman just stood outside and didn’t interfere. AJ was in the ring with Roman. Styles decided to use the chair that was in the ring, except Roman punched Styles, hit AJ with a chair, Superman Punched The Club and then Styles showed up and TORE ROMAN ASS UP with a chair, then hit a Styles Clash on Roman while the crowd is HOT. There are cheers and boo’s, the crowd is noisy as hell, and there ya go! This is such a great feud! AJ and Roman both showed that the animostity is growing. Roman is the protector of the championship and will go to any lengths to keep it. AJ is seeing that and doing what ever it takes to take it from Roman. They are both so driven they have developed followers. This is some good stuff.

Big Cass vs. D-Von Dudley

• Big Cass… He need a haircut.
• Cass grabs the mic and runs down his memorized lines.
• Calls Devon the “urkle of the squared circle” and calls Bubba  Fred Flinstone looking dude and Cass is gonna send him back to the stone age.
• D-Von runs into the ring, and loses… LEGIT

And I’m Like… These guys are making Cass look like a million bucks, onward and upward Cass, good luck.

Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio

• This match starts real quick, Del Rio tries to take Kalisto’s mask off, Kalisto ends up in the tree of woe and gets beaten out of it.
• Del Rio keeps the crowd quiet by dominating the match. Kalistos is too quick for Del Rio to catch his breath.
• Kalisto was VIOLENTLY flung into the barricade… Why does Del Rio have to be so damn Vicious.
• Remember when Del Rio had Roberto? What happened to his character?
• They keep showing Sin Cara watching in the back and selling body language. That is crazy, that’s one of the rare times we’ve seen something like this. Rusev drags Sin Cara away with Lana in tow.
• As Kalisto and Del Rio put their hearts on the line, Noth Carolina says “We Want Sasha”
• AS Kalisto gets choked the crowd is slowly dying.Del Rio went for his corner stomp but Kalisto was able to stop Del Rio with a move off the top rope. Rusev throws Sin Cara down the entrance ramp and still is attacking him.
• Rusev is dominating Del Rio and Kalisto finally notices. Del Rio does a backstabber to Kalisto.
• As Del Rio leaves Rusev gets in the ring and kicks Kalisto, then he Looks like he will legit break Kalisto in half based on how the Accolade looks. Rusev tries to break his back and it makes me Ambrose Asylum levels of uncomfortable.

And I’m Like… They show that kick to the back of the head that looked gross, then they show The Accolade segment, Del Rio and Sin Cara really didn’t matter in this, but it was nice to remember them while building for the United States title.

The McMahons come out

• Shane gets a “Shane-O-Mac’ chant and  Stephanie says “Steph-E-Mac” and it doesn’t catch on.
• Steph was gonna introduce Charlotte to Flair Country. Minnesota is part of that country too, I won’t argue on what city is more Flair Country.
• Ric Flair comes out insted. He starts cutting a promo and I get nervous when Flair talks.

Woman’s Contract Signing

• Charlotte is dressed like she should be on Ally Mcbeal and Nattie looks like Sandy from Grease got made over by Topenga Lawerence.
• Nattie signed the contract. Charlotte called her delusional. Charlotte said Greensboro is “MY PEOPLE” She said she could punch their friends in the face and they would still cheer her. She is a living breathing Goddess.. She has a grating voice…
• Charlotte talking ish reminds me of my teenage waitresses, they say so much gossip about trivial shit. Nattie already signed the contract and Charlotte tries and demean her more, BE FORE SHE SIGNS SHE READs THE CONTRACT!!! Perfect! Love it!
• Shane and Steph added a stipulation that says if Ric walks near the ring Charlotte is stripped of the title.
• I am a fan of Charlotte, but man do I want to boo her, I don’t like her character, which is good, cause that is what she is going for… Wrestling is weird.
• Flair is f’n CRAZY nutso psycho crazy. Him and Charlotte are cartoon characters. Its absurd!
• Flair gets smacked by Steph, Nattie puts a Sharpshooter on Charlotte who was going after Steph and there we go. Main Event contract signing for the Women. That is historical right?

And I’m Like… That wasn’t an ‘end of the show’ strong of a segment but it still was good. Flair is really going off the deep end as a character. I fear he might be made a fool like he was during the NWO days of WCW. He has been put in the sharpshooter by Bret and Nattie. He looked like a caged animal last week, and this week he gets slapped and taken out by security. He is that parent at the sporting event that is taking it too far. Charlotte will prove she can win it on her own and make us hate her more.

That was a really fun episode. I AM SO READY FOR EXTREME RULES!!

It’s late though, big up’s to Comcast for DM’ing me on Twitter and fixing the problem with the DVR. They should be sending out an X1 box soon, the DVR is in an old cable box and they’ve been known to malfunction..

Hey guys! Kind of a busy week this week. The restaurant was busy because May and Mother’s Day. I was busy becaue blogs a being on my first podcast . It is with a fine fellow by the name of Mark Adam Haggerty and we discuss the 10 best and worst celebrity wrestling appearances. I just got done with my Old School blog. We are in 1984 there. We are in 2016 here and an hour behind on Raw so let’s dive into it shall we?

Monday Night Raw

• We start with the confrontation with AJ and the Good Brothers and Roman and The Uso’s.
• It is interlaced with Roman saying “AJ can’t do it on his own” then we see their 6-Man Tag match highlights.
• The Good Brothers took Roman out of the match and AJ put an Uso away easily.
• The chair incident happens where AJ is told to use a chair but doesn’t. He tosses it to the side. The Uso’s picked it up and used it on AJ’s back. Styles got mad at this and started beating them down with the chair. Roman sees AJ doing the chair work and punches him like a Superman.
• Roman goes ballistic and powerbombs AJ through a table…. Because he is the kid that took the joke too far in High School and got mad when people got upset… I mean I don’t know if he did, but he totally did you know?

Tonight is the Night to press X and reload… theme song.

Jericho Comes Out

• Seeing as how this is a feud between talk shows. A modern day Letterman vs. Leno. I learned that the first WWF talk show was Buddy Rogers Corner . Just to let you know if you didn’t but BUDDY ROGERS was the first to do almost EVERYTHING in wrestling.
• Jericho says Ambrose won’t be on because he has a bulging disc.
• Jericho shows Mitch the Plants remains. The crowd starts a “Mitch” chant. Jericho says he took both Ambrose and the plant out.
• Also the talk show in between Buddy Rogers Corner and Piper’s Pit. Was a show with the Mike Adamale (did I spell his name wrong?) of the 80’s The Victory Corner with Robert DeBord .
• I am able to look that stuff up because Jericho is showing us tweets about Mitch The Plant. Ambrose is called an everyman like us by Jericho. Jericho can’t relate to us or Ambrose because he is “the Haley’s Comet of WWE”
• HOLY SHIT!!! Jericho says he is a talent that is a “once in every 76 year talent” that would be 1940.. You know who debuted in 1940? BUDDY ROGERS !!! That was brilliant!

Big Cass Comes Out

• Good move for Cass, he went from losing a Tag Tourny to being in Raw’s opening segment. Jericho always feuds with new talent, its pretty damn cool. He loves this business.
• Cass stares down Jericho as the crowd yells “How You Doin”
• Cass says he would return Jericho’s gift.. Say’s How You Doin? The crowd chants that too.
• Cass tells Jericho he has no idea what the new era is all about. “We have arrived is not a cry for help, it’s a warning” He told Jericho he arrived and told Jericho to get out of his way or he will run through him. He lost his Jersey accent.
• Jericho called Amore “Enzo Annoying”. Cass says “in the new era, we stand and we fight”. Cass steps to Y2J.
• Jericho tries to say who he is but Cass won’t let him talk. He don’t let him finish, he finishes for Jericho like he was Titus O’Neil or something.
• Jericho takes his coat off to put it over his shoulder and walk out to boo’s.
• Cass hits his S-A-W-F-T catchphrase and that brings Jericho back to the apron but Cass hit a big boot.

And I’m Like… It’s sink or swim time for Cass. He didn’t have the energy he normally has but he looked confident. His eyes are how you can tell, the last shot of Cass we got looked the most intense. I am ok with this feud, Cass needs someone to work with to make him better and Jericho is the perfect guy to do that.

Jericho sucks up to Stephanie and wants to stop the New Era. Jericho is selling that boot, it is swelling up though. Steph says the New Era is a good idea. Cass will be in the main event against Jericho.. Good luck Cass!

Steph does Cass’ promo with a Jersey accent, and his Jericho with his catchphrase to never try and drive a wedge between her brother, ever again. Steph’s character is trying really hard to just join the fun and be happy. It’s weird to see but it’s refreshing too.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler

• Corbin comes out to boo’s. That is a good thing. Cole says he is called the Lone Wolf because he is a loner.
• He is telling us he isn’t part of a new era. He is part of his Era because he doesn’t give a damn about anyone in the world, especially Dolph Ziggler.
• They collar and elbow for a blink, waistlock for a blink and now they are brawling. It’s funny that they hit the beats of normal wrestling matches but just in fast forward.
• They are already outside of the ring and brawling hard. “Corbin is at home outside the ring” says Cole.
• Corbin missed a boot and straddled the barricade, Ziggler hit a dropkick that sent Baron over and we went to commercial.
• We come back with Ziggler hitting his signature moves as WWE tells us Big Cass is trending. Looks like someone is the new favorite toy for those in charge.
• I don’t know how Corbin gained advantage in the match but he has it and is just punching a grounded Ziggler in the face.
• JBL relates Corbin to Vader and Stan Hansen as a guy who played football and became a wrestler. They are tying tough brawler’s names to Corbin so we get accustomed to his roughneck style.
• Corbin kicked out of the Fameasser and Baron hit a Deep Six that instead of one rotation it got two and half for a very close two. Corbin sold frustration but soon replaced that with arrogance.
• Ziggler went to the well again with a corner splash, Corbin reversed it and hit the End of Days in dominate fashion.

And I’m Like… That was a solid match, Corbin was put over as an unstoppable machine and the commentary team made sure to mention he is making an impact and is tough as nails. I think it usually takes about a year or two to build someone up to superstar status. I mean we know Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins are considered superstars now but they debuted in 2012. Corbin is on his way so far.

We find out that Styles , Gallows and Anderson are known as The Club.

We see last week where Nattie put the Sharpshooter on Ric and then Steph makes a Submission Match with Charlotte and Nattie at Extreme Rules, with Ric banned from ringside.

The Flairs show up in Shane’s office and are sucking up to him. They want him to reverse Steph’s decision. Shane says because him and his sister are getting along he agree’s and also bans Flair from ringside tonight. Shane has that picture of him and his dad in his office.

Anderson, Gallows and AJ have a promo with JoJo. They talk about what happened at Raw but don’t mention on Smackdown! when AJ says he won’t hesitate to take out Roman. He does say it again tonight here. Mark that under ‘Reasons I don’t watch Smackdown’. AJ says “The Club is officially back together again”

R-Truth vs. Fandango

• These guys, you guys!! Somehow Breeze got regulated to crazy guy status.
• R-Truth dabbed, and if anyone knows me from these reviews… I no longer am supporting R-Truth.
• I am team Goldango now… Sorry Breeze.
• The crowd quiets down as Fandango has a chinlock on R-Truth.
• Fandango starts hip swiveling and Goldust jumps on the apron to stanky leg, Fandango points at Goldie with a smile. Breeze is on the apron and Truth accidentally knocks him down. Truth still got the pin and win. Breeze doesn’t look to happy as Goldust and Fandango discuss the stanky leg.

And I’m Like… Is Smackdown!’s tag match the blow off to the feud or a turn in the road? I am not gonna act like a truely care about it. At the same time I think these segments are like a sitcom you’ve seen a bunch. You DVR it because you know you enjoy the show, but you don’t actively look for it or talk about it in your day. When that sitcom is on though? You watch it and are entertained, nothing more, nothing less.

Miz, Cesaro, and Owens are all yelling at Shane and Steph. Steph does her mom yell and says “ENOUGH” she makes a triple threat match for the IC title at Extreme Rules. Zayn comes in and says he should be in the match because “the people want to see Sami get the opportunity for the title” Zayn says he will face the Miz to earn his spot. He says if he loses he will go to the back of the line. Steph and Shane like the idea.

Owens takes the longest to walk away from the McMahons and they complimented each other. The McMahons are becoming friends!

Charlotte vs. Paige

• Nattie is at ringside, let’s hope she doesn’t get involved.
• Paige comes out, I think one of the reasons I am not a fan of her is for how non-chalant she is. I feel like she wrestles because that is all she knows , but she just kind of goes through the motions. I mean I know there isn’t anything planned for her, so that would be hard to get motivated for. At the same time, your only on the Earth for son long, and if you have a chance to have your art be taped for history, why not go 100%?
• Charlotte gets some moves on Paige and yells “this is my house” Paige trips Charlotte up and does the Flair strut.. then she screams “This is My House”
• Nattie asks Byron how she puts up with Cole and JBL.
• Charlotte and Paige are wrestling at a very fast pace. They are striking each other and taunting the crowd.
• Nattie says that Charlotte “is a scared little girl” Nattie wants to see confidence in Charlotte not fake confidence.
• The crowd is clapping for Paige, but they still Woo when Charlotte taunts. So… they are cheering for both girls?
• Paige hits successive running knees and only get’s two. Nattie says Charlotte lacks integrity. Byron brings up, without Ric, Charlotte is struggling.
• Nattie drops the bomb of all bombs and says Flair has gross breath.
• We see The Club is trending as Charlotte and Paige fight on the turnbuckle.
• Charlotte screams and talks so much during her match, she is very vocal but since the commentary team talks so much you can’t really hear what she is saying.
• Paige hits a superplex but sells back pain before she goes for a pin, Nattie thinks it’s over and excitedly counts with the referee.
• Paige got two near falls and Charlotte was able to get a near fall. JBL and Nattie keep arguing, and it’s not about the match.
• Charlotte tried to put her feet on the ropes and Nattie missed her cue and Paige kicked out of the cheated pinfall.
• The crowd livens up when Flair comes out. Nattie and Ric start talking trash as PAige just stares at them.. Because she has never seen it before.

Shane Comes Out and does the double heart tap while he runs down, he gets Flair escorted out of here.

• That was crazy, and Charlotte got legit distracted. Paige exploded after her win, which would mean to me that after Charlotte beats Nattie, Charlotte will feud with Paige.

And I’m Like… That match was shenanigans. Nattie and JBL were kind of distracting on commentary. We had the trending twitter thing and a commercial, it was hard to keep in the flow of the match. The crowd was involved though, and when Flair came out everything felt exciting, Shane comes out and makes it better. Charlotte lost, once she grabbed her title she clutched it like she wouldn’t have it for long, very cool. I think Paige’s win will set up two more pay per view matches to get Charlotte ready for Sasha Banks … (WHERE IS SHE?!?!?!)

Sami Zayn vs. The Miz w/Maryse

• Sami has the most ska shirts. I wonder if wrestlers get input on shirt designs.
• As the Miz comes out, I wonder why the commentator’s never say that Maryse used to be Diva’s champion. I know that title is retired, and I realized it doesn’t help the story. So yep.. answered my own question.
• The match starts with some “ole” and a wristlock by the combatants.
• I like that this match, even though it starts scientific, it is still different than the other matches tonight. It’s the little things I appreciate and Sami provides the little things.
• Sami Zayn has the best arm drags on the main roster and he was sure to treat us to some.
• Miz can’t seem to keep up with Zayn or counter any of his offense. Sami even gets Miz to the outside and goes fora dive. Maryse was there to save Miz
• Miz is able to regain composure until Sami jumps on the barricade and moonsaults in one motion. “Sami” from the crowd.
• Miz is tossed all over ringside. Sami starts getting more and more intense. The crowd is up to eight as we go to commercial!! WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN? I hope we come back and it’s over. That would be new.
• Back from break and we see Kevin Owens and Cesaro watching this match. Quick shots to make the story better! Love it!
• Miz hit his jumping corner clothesline. He hits Sami with a top rope Double Axe Handle. Miz sets up the SCF. Sami fights out.
• Miz hits a basement DDT but that never wins the match, it gets two though.
• Miz shows frustration as the crowd chants “Sami”
• Michinoku driver by Zayn and it got a close close two count.
• Miz is able to apply the figure four on Sami. Miz puts his own hands being his back so the pressure doesn’t get reversed.
• Sami is attempting to wrestle fair, Miz is cheating and even using Sami’s move.
• After Miz argues with the ref, Zayne is able to put Miz in the corner and hits the Helluva Kick for the win.

And I’m Like… Four guys, with ample reasons to be in the match at Extreme Rules. I expect that match to be bonkers. This match had a commercial disrupt the flow too. That was a good match, the guys stuck to the story and played the characters well. One of the things I am excited for strongly weekly.

We get a interview with Becky Lynch who has to watch Emma poke her in the eye.

Emma tells Becky she is inferier, and guess what DANA BROOKE SHOWS UP!!! She is with Emma and they are known as EMD.. Play Time is over!

Make Darren Great Again

We get another Make Darren Great Again video package from Smackdown! Darren does some positive affirmations and let’s us know that right in front of him was Bob Backlund. Darren needs a life coach. Bob says he has never been a life coach but he will be the wrestling coach. Bob says “I have never been a life coach, as your life coach your first rule is “WRESTLING IS LIVE”

And I’m Like… YAAAAAAAAAASSSSS!

SASHA BANKS AND NEW DAY!!! Finally a Sasha sighting. Dolph Ziggler shows up and I don’t know how I feel about this Pizza Hut ad. It is a commercial based off of Xavier Woods wrestling show… It’s weird.. Sasha was on it though!

Ryder is in the back talking to Shane that he can be a player here. He told Shane he just doesn’t want to be here. Owens shows up and Shane looks at Ryder “this guy is like a fungus.” Owens says the new era is handing title matches to Sami Zayn.

Owens rips on Ryder and Shane. He says many good lines, Shane makes a Owens vs. Ryder match, with the winner getting into the fatal-four way match

Roman is in the back talking to The Uso’s and Tom Phillips shows up and scares them. They all say they are family and if you attack one, they all fight back.

Sin Cara vs. Rusev w/ Lana

• Lana comes out and introduces Rusev. His belly thing says “Brute”
• Rusev takes Sin Cara out and yells at Kalisto. After almost every move done to Sin Cara Rusev looks at Kalisto.
• Rusev gets Sin Cara in a bearhug. As he talks crap to Kalisto. Rusev be the new Mark Henry.
• Sin Cara is so bad, he can’t even get a move in on Rusev who is staring at Kalisto, straight STARING.
• Sin Cara is able to get some offense in when he is fast paced and flippy. Rusev hits a kick on Sin Cara. As he talks stuff to Kalisto, Kalisto stands on the apron. That makes Lana stand on the apron and the ref went to Lana. Kalisto kicked Rusev and Sin Cara got the pin.

And I’m Like… The good guys cheated to win, good for them. I don’t know about these matches, but I am glad Rusev is on tv! Is the U.S. Title the preshow title?

The Clubs vs. Roman and The Uso’s

• This is an Elimination match so it is not one- fall to a finish.
• Anderson and an Uso start off and Anderson got the jump and was doing good untl he got caught with a drop kick.
• Roman gets cheered and boo’d. The hate doesn’t spread to the Uso’s though so that is different. I am more a Roman fan than Uso’s fan.
• The Club are doing quick tags and staying dominate.
• Anderson runs at Roman and takes him down. As Roman nurses his eye, the Uso tagged the other Uso and there is a bit of a hot tag going on.
• An Uso does that Uso hip attack, but he dabs…. good thing I already didn’t like the Uso’s.. Another good reason I don’t like the Uso’s…? One just got eliminated so I can enjoy the match more.
• Roman looks confused when he enters the ring. AJ tagged in to face off with Roman and Gallows forces a tag on AJ. We now have Roman vs. Fake Kane.
• One of the Uso’s is doing a great job at beating on Gallows. He also does the Uso hip attack and doesn’t dab, so I know I like that Uce better.
• Karl got caught in a small package pin. Roman looks all arrogant about it…
• We come back with AJ and Roman going at it. Roman gets pele’d and then kicked out of the ring.
• AJ looks mad as hell and does a springboard Phenomenal forearm.
• During the commercial an Uce got eliminated. I like it!
• The odds are pretty good for Roman. They are 2-on-1.. he is used to all vs. one. So it’s a lot smaller of an obstacle than ALL THE PEOPLE.
• Gallows gets superman punched and AJ doesn’t even break it up……
• Gallows gets pinned and AJ crazy attack Roman. The kids are chanting for Roman. Loudly.
• AJ was setting the table up to put Roman on it but Roman got a hold of Styles neck and threw him into the chairs. Roman lost it and is going Pycho cRazy right now.
• Anderson and Gallows show up and hit Roman with a chair. The Uso’s make the save.
• The match ends in DQ. Which is weird because there was no countout.
• The Club gets rid of The Uso’s and Roman takes out The Club… AJ was down this whole time.
• The Club came to help AJ because they could see Roman took the joke too far again. Roman got what he deserved.
• Roman was able to fend off AJ and the Club. There was a Mexican Standoff with AJ threatening his forearm and Roman looking at the chair.
• Roman picks up the chair and drops it at AJ’s feet. “AJ Styles/Roman Reigns” dueling chants as they look at each other, this is a MOMENT!!
• AJ told Roman to pick the chair up, as Reigns does, AJ jumps over Roman and walks away saying “it’s coming”

And I’m Like… This feud has been baller. I am into the old school vibe and the shades of grey. I am fine with Roman as champ if we get stories like these monthly or bi monthly. The match could have been longer but all the parts were played and all the beats were hit. It will probably be on some DVD video’s because of the crowd reaction and how it felt like a moment.

Zack Ryder vs. Kevin Owens

• If Ryder wins he is in the match and Owens is out.
• This match starts with a waistlock and side headlock.
• Owens is having his way with Ryder and taunting Zack to his face.
• Owens says he wasted enough time, throws Ryder out of the ring and sets up for the apron powerbomb.
• Ryder countered and back body dropped Owens on the floor.
• Owens is able to gain advantage because he has a counter for everything Zack does and Ryder really doesn’t have offense you can’t counter.
• Owens was able to dodge the Broski boot. Ryder followed Owens around until it connected.
• Owens kicked out of the Elbrow Drop . Ryder went for a Rough Ryder but Owens countered it.
• Kevin hits a POP on Ryder and advances to Extreme Rules.

And I’m Like… I like that this match has meaning, there just wasn’t much to it. There isn’t much to say because it was a typical Zack Ryder match. Hit your grappling, then brawling, outside brawling, signature moves, finisher with maybe some more signatures. There are a lot of things to learn and a lot to know. Good jobs Kevin Owens.

Renee Young interviews Big Cass, we have a low angle view to make Cass look taller.

He drops a few more catchphrases and that’s about it.

New Day vs. The Dudleyz

• As New Day comes out we hear from the Villains, they saw that New Day is just silliness. They want to be respected.
• The New Day grab the mics. They do a little bit of talking and hip swivel to WWE Tag Team Champions.
• Then they pray to the last Booty-O from Mania and Xavier sings A Whole New World . “A Booty-O… The last one from Mania” What’s absolutely mind blowing tome lately is I have been singing that song all week. NOT the booty-o’s one , the real one.
• “Save The Table”!! Oh we ain’t doing that anymore?… That’s cool.
• Bubba yells at Kofi “you forgot to eat your Booty-O’s, Booty-O’s will get you cross faced”
• Kofi and Big E are able to work over Bubba Ray as the crowd is a commercial from ’86 .
• The New Day have held the title’s for 260 days.
• There is a unicorn stampede and it is non stop on D-Von, there is no crowd reaction either. This match should end soon. They are “New Day Rocksin” and then the Vaudeviallains show up and beat on Xavier Woods.
• D-Von hit a clothesline on Kofi and the Villains attack him after the match.

And I’m Like… That was a match that happened. I don’t know if it was the crowd or the moment we were waiting for with the Vaudevillains, either way that match happened. I’m glad the live crowd made it so I could hear a pin drop. I just wish there was something to that.

Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho

• Big Cass doesn’t get that big of a reaction but it will grow.
• Jericho’s music hits, It looks like someone beat up Jericho, then the jacket was put back on.
• Then we get the Jericho pose and we see Jericho’s jacket. Ambrose was the one that stole it.
• That reveal would have been better if the commentator’s didn’t go “oh no!”
• That was a very cool moment, but again, the reveal could have been better. Where did Cass go?
• I don’t know where Cass is but Ambrose ripped the jacket up. An Jericho is freaking out. He runs into Cass…
• He sells intense anger with those eyes. JEricho then slaps Cass who screams “Are You Out of your mind!”
• Cass threw Jericho into Dean who hit Dirty Deeds.
• Jericho and Dean are left in the ring. Dean walks away as his music plays, Jericho is freaking out with his shredded jacket.

And I’m Like… Cass is not trusted to main event a match then? That last segment was pretty cool but I felt the reveal would have been better if it showed Dean’s face first. What I liked the best was when Steph and Shane agreed they are coexisting alright. Then Steph picks up the Vince and Shane picture, she has about four or five emotions. There is a smile, then there is contempt and anger, there is just enough to let us know she has a plan and is torn/waiting. Maybe she has a mic in the picture frame and is waiting to frame her brother.

That episode was fun! There were a few lulls but not too much. It’s weird to have a show center around Jericho. I am excited for next week, lots of threads that need to be tied tighter.

NXT Opening-

American Alpha vs. Blake and Murphy

This was a match that was hyped last week. Corey Graves was talking about how deep this tag division is, deeper than it has ever been in NXT.

Jordan got one of his legs caught after a kick attempt, every time Murphy tried to sweep him he jumped with the greatest of agility. Jordan tags Gable in and Gable surgically takes down Murphy and Blake with wrestling moves.

Blake was showing some of his athleticism but it had no chance up against Gable’s athleticism and countering ability. Gable should call out Ricky Steamboat and they can have an arm-drag off (arm-drag race).

Murphy went on a leapfrog and seems to have seriously hurt his knee. He motions to Blake as the crowd is quiet in worry. Blake runs in and Murphy ‘miraculously’ gets better and chop block Chad’s leg. “Save The Gable” chant.

I still don’t know what Blake and Murphy are about other than the dubstep version of a wrestling tag team. Then again I don’t know what dubstep is about so maybe that is it.

Jordan was waiting for a while but was able to get the hot tag. He suplexes everything in sight, even belly-to-bellies Blake on top of Murphy. They follow that up with their finisher that is not named.

And I’m Like… Those are the third former NXT Tag Team champions American Alpha has beaten. They are so getting the titles at Takeover, no way a team gets built this much just to lose to Dash and Dawson. I am afraid the team I’ve dubbed Carolina Wrecking Crew are the Stan Stasiak of the NXT tag division. The problem for me is that the main roster tag division is weak once again so I would like American Alpha to not peak just yet by winning the belts. The sooner they are called up the sooner we won’t hear the creative chants and applause for Gable, Jordan, and how they can wrestle.

Emma and Dana Brooke are interviewed about Carmella and Asuka. Dana Brook says Alex the Interviewer isn’t important. Dana says that last week was all about Bayley, Carmella can not do a thing. Emma says Carmella doesn’t have the skills to beat Bayley. Emma says Blue Pants doesn’t even work here and beat Carmella. Dana ends the promo with “bada bing unluckiest girl in the ring” signature head pat and we are done.

Special look at Asuka in NXT

We start off by seeing Asuka smiling after getting slapped. She taps out Dana Brooke and then we see her kick all the ass NXT had to offer.

Nia Jax vs. Liv Morgan

Ok, seeing that Liv Morgan had no entrance this is a showcase. One problem I have is Nia’s entrance. The lyrics are “I’m not like most girls” outside of her weight, based on Breaking Ground. Nia is like most girls, she is girly, she gets nervous for her debut, she wants to be the best, she knows how to do make-up, and is in love with her mom.

Corey Graves also is just…. he doesn’t want to talk and just wants to “enjoy” the girls in the ring… stop it. I might not be like most guys but I don’t see how talking about how attractive these girls are helps at all. Like tonight in the main event if someone says “Damn look at Baron Corbin, I love his leather pants and how he is fitting in them” does that help the story or the match at all?

This match was definitely a showcase. Nia had her way with Liv. It would be like me wrestling my two month daughter. Sometimes when I hold her and she is fussy, she bangs her head into my chest, I just reposition her and she really can’t do anything about it. Liv tries to fight but there is really nothing she can do.

And I’m Like… That match existed, it furthers the belief that Nia is unstoppable to most of the woman’s division in NXT, except for the champ Bayley. Eva is still her manager too, which would be a cool change if Eva never wrestled again and just managed.

Carmella cuts a promo on Emma and who she calls “Little Miss Piggy” Dana Brooke. She says she can handle it all by her self. She kept her eastern accent but she was ALL BIDNESS. Cass then took over and brought up Dash and Dawson. Cass says “all fluff and no stuff? Well, it appears to me that you’ve been stuffing your faces because of all that fluff you have behind those belts.” Enzo said he was on edge since London, he didn’t have a Merry Christmas because he didn’t come home with titles. “ya get tuned up, and I’m putting the Midas touch on it. We don’t give a damn about you, we don’t give a damn about anything you got to say. You are looking at stars, finish your cup of average Joe and move the hell on.”

Baron Corbin vignette about him hating people from the Indies and being dominate.

Vaudevillians get one more of those “we are turning heel” videos.

Bull Dempsey vs. Alex Riley

HOLY SHIT! Alex Riley is still a thing? I remember one time I cheered for him, he just turned on the Miz and had this dope ass entrance song. What is crazy is he has been around for a while and is still like a jobber of NXT. Corey Graves says Alex Riley and Tom Phillips follow themselves on Tinder.

Phillps bring up that Riley is still a wrestler and not a commentator because of his feud with Kevin Owens where he gave up his commentating position. The crowd is pretty much dead… No chants or cheers, I think we all feel the same.. What?!? Alex Riley?!? What is he about?

Alex is dominating though, speaking of are people still a thing. Marcus Louis? Corey Graves says Riley looks a little crazy. Riley wins with a spinebuster and flying knee. Doesn’t garner much of a reaction other than some woo’s and claps..

And I’m Like… Tom Phillips says that is not the Alex Riley that he remembers. If it’s the “I’m going crazy gimmick” I’ve seen enough of that in PPW . This is kind of and interesting angle to take though. I’m not sure where it can go but I’m sure NXT won’t let us down… Will they?

Elias Sampson is the Drifter and we just see him playing guitar before he wrestles… If his gimmick is meaningless guy that you see staring into candles and lamps at coffeehouses, he is FUCKIN NAILING IT. There is no substance to those people other than “I have a guitar so I am deep and different”, so there should be no substance to him right? It’s hard for that kind of character to garner a reaction but that is why he is The Drifter and not that Folk Singing Superstar.

Alex Riley isn’t talking to anyone we know. He starts with “what? You surprised to see me? For the last four months I’ve been making calls, writing e-mails, sending texts all the way to Stamford. Letting them know how I have been feeling when, when I will be back. You know how many responses I got? Zero. I have had a lot of time on my hands, I have watched a lot of WWE Network and NXT. You know what I see every week and three weeks leading up to it. Sami Zayns return THE EXACT DAY. I know what Apollo Crews had for breakfast three days ago. I don’t see Alex Riley anywhere? I guess that is what hard work and 8 years in this business gets you. So to answer my question, you are surprised.”

Tom Phillips says “Riley is back whether you like him or not.”

And I’m Like… I was surprised that I was into that. Him being in a dark room resembles his mood, it feels cheesy but Alex Riley feels cheesy all the time. He never really had a character other than “himself Alex Riley”. Maybe “disgruntled employee” will be a thing… Maybe they can Eva Marie him and saddle him up with Baron Corbin or something.

Elias Sampson vs. Local Talent

Elias knows how his theme song goes, as he sits on the top of the rope and takes his shirt off when the song turns up a notch. Graves doesn’t understand why we need Elias in NXT.

Elias is doing a kind of slow and menacing wrestling style that is nuanced with quick rapid strikes and attacks. Almost psychotic, Corey Graves says “he has a lot of deep seeded issues based on the aggression he’s showing.” Sampson does a Randy Orton type backwards slide into the turnbuckle where he channeled his inner Raven. Sampson hit a fast neck breaker for the win.

And I’m Like… This episode is reminding me of an episode of Mid-South wrestling. There is so much going on, so quickly, and the matches last mere minutes. I swear if there is a screwy finish in the end, NXT just tried to copy Mid-South for one hour.

Mojo asks Zack Ryder what is with the Vaudevillains. Mojo is fighting with Zack Ryder. Zack says Mojo can’t talk anymore. Mojo sends Zack Ryder Zubas cause chicks love them. He tells Ryder he watches him sleep and knows he sleeps in Zubas. Ryder doesn’t want Mojo to watch him sleep anymore. They are some weird dudes… or bro’s or whatever.

Samoa Joe had a hype video too… he says he is getting what is owed to him and everyone has been warned.

We see a two months ago video of Finn vs. Apollo that Corbin interfered on, one of the few non-finishes in NXT so the out side interference meant something. That is a hype video for the rematch next week. It will be non-title.

Number One Contenders Match

Baron Corbin vs.

Samoa Joe vs.

Sami Zayn

Hey… y’all check out Baron’s leather?!?

Before the match starts the NXT Universe is “ole’ing”. Corey points out there is no countout and no DQ. Tom wants to wonder who that helps the most. That is a good question. I would say Sami because he is the smallest dog in the fight. Sami went for a suicide dive on Corbin but Joe pulled Zayn’s leg and started working him over outside. Samoa Joe even rolls in the ring and out the ring to “break the count” even though the ref isn’t counting. It’s just muscle memory.

Joe takes Corbin out after he is done with Sami. Guess what Joe does? Rolls in and out of the ring lol.

It’s weird that this is a recording and Sami came out at the Rumble. Usually any accomplishment a person has the commentators talk about it, I would be sure that Sami would get lot’s of Royal Rumble talk if this was a live episode.

There are commercial breaks. I understand why they are there. NXT is the most or one of the most popular shows on the Network. Might as well put over your other shows when you can. At the same time, NXT is your bread and butter on this sandwich, and your cutting out the middle and expecting me to appreciate the rest of the sandwich. Bitch I want my sandwich whole, that’s when I get satisfied. These “road trip” commercials take me out of my element.

Sami tries for another dive to the outside but this time Corbin tries to stop him. Zayn throws Corbin over the top and then was able to land his plancha on both men. Sami chooses Baron as the guy to throw in. Corbin makes Sami wish he chose Joe when Baron hit Deep Six on Sami for two.

Samoa Joe beat up Baron and Sami and hit a senton on Sami who was on Corbin. Joe throws Sami into the turnbuckle and the way Zayn sells it has me falling in love. Just rams his head into the turnbuckle and Sami just crumbled. He has Bret Hart levels of selling.

Joe was sick of playing around went for a Muscle Buster on Zayn, Corbin was able to make the save after a back and forth struggle. Corbin throws Joe out and tries to superplex Sami, Zayn throws Baron off and is able to turn a small sequence into a Blue Thunder Bomb. This triple threat is like a mini-one on one match. Every guy has paired off with each other and done some moves. The third guy surprise attacks and then they trade places. It isn’t bad but it keeps the constant action up, and the pace slowed down .

Joe was taking it too Baron Corbin and Corbin was able to End his Days. Sami got up to break the pin attempt. Corbin knew he lost if it wasn’t for Sami so he freaks out and beats the alabaster off of Zayn. As Corbin is screaming Sami takes advantage and is able to Helluva kick Corbin. That would have been a three count but Joe tSincook Sami out of the ring. Sami retaliates by shoving Joe into the steps. Everyone is exhausted.

I know Sami is from Canada but his version of the Sharpshooter looks like it was taught to him by The Rock. Kevin Owens gots him on that move. Joe sees that and runs in and instead of breaking up the Sharpshooter, Joe applies the crossface. That makes it so both competitors had their back to the other, and Baron tapped out quick because it was a painful move. The referee hasn’t made a decision though.

The crowd wants these two to hug it out, but that ain’t gonna happen. Tom is asking who Baron tapped out to? It’s ok cause Regal is out to settle matters.

Regal says he can’t give an answer until he reviews the tape and makes a better decision. As Samoa Joe makes it up the ramp he says sorry to Sami Zayn.

And I’m Like… It was a wonky finish… it’s not a bad finish or a non-finish, it was just wonky. Since Finn is facing Crews next week, look for a Joe vs. Sami match next week or I the future I am guessing. I really thought Baron would advance and a Joe/Zayn feud would start because neither have happened yet from a long term feud stand point. Oh well, gotta wait til next week. This is one of those “building” shows, where everything is good, but It doesn’t have that emotional impact we will feel come Takeover.

We are brought to the NXT arena with Rich calling next weeks Takeover the biggest event of the season.

Realest Guys in the Room vs. Corey Hollis and John Skyler

Realest Guys come out without their usual pomp and circumstance. Giving off the vibe that they here to fight.

Hollis and Skyler come out like they were the Dash and Dawson of 2014. Big Cass looks mad as hell too, and you can’t teach that.

Cass hits numerous blows to Skyler’s stomach, yells in his face “HOW YOU DOIN'” and these guys are not messing around anymore. The crowd is doing the catchphrases because the Realest Guys are not having it. Enzo is even growing his hair out and hiding all that leopard print stuff.

Big Cass does his best Bubba Ray Dudley impression and says “Enzo, Go Up Top!!” As Enzo climbs to the top rope the crowd does the “S-A-W-F-T” and when Enzo jumps off the rope they go “SAWWFFT”. The match ends but the Guys got the mic.

Enzo says “That is how we put food on the table” while wearing “Dash, I’ll be damned if you interfere with me feeding my family” “You take out my tag team partner, you jeopardize his future and jeopordize my future too.”

Big Cass says “we have fought too hard for too long.”

And I’m Like… The Realest Guys got more real. They are serious by to truck load. They are like heels with their demeanor but they are just sick of being pushed aside. These guys have been a party ever since they came out, the party is over and now is time for clean up. I’m a big fan of this seriousness. Only because it plays so well of wheat they have presented before.

Dana and Emma get interviewed by Tom Phillips. Tom wants to make sure Dana has calmed down from last week and asks Emma if she is ready for Asuka. Emma says the question is why Asuka had the red carpet rolled out for her since she got here. Emma said the Diva Revolution would not have started if it wasn’t for the Emmalution. Dana says “just because we can, we will take a closer look at Asuka tonight.” She forces Tom to crouch down so she can pat his head.

We get a Perfect 10 vignette and it’s a video of the crowd chanting 10 while we see a graphic that says Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger. Some stuff I was thinking about today was what to do with Tye. I’m sure he is talented as all get out, but that gimmick just don’t make sense with me. Maybe go the Bo route and add the 10 into words. Like “I know I have a TENdency to say I’m perfect, but out of all the conTENders in NXT, lets not preTENd that I do not command the most atTENtion out of the NXT universe. Let’s TENtatively plan for me to be champion.” Or just pick a word with TEN in it and use that a bunch every week. Change the word monthly maybe, and he should try to win his matches by countout. Like how Big E needed 5 all the time.

Asuka vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Anyone that comes out against Asuka gives me little faith they will win. Asuka gots the redish pink hair with the line of face paint across her nose and eyes. Deonna gots dark brown hair and a green outfit. Out the get go you know Deonna is just enhancement since she doesn’t have a signature hair color yet. That’s how they differentiate the Diva’s you know.

Asuka is out wrestling Purrazzo and turns pins into armbars and follows those up with the  most dangerous kicks. The story is really just Deonna trying to survive. That is until Emma and Dana come out to Emma’s music.

Asuka sees the girls, turns around and KNOCKS Deonna out with a kick. She looks at the Brown and Blonde haired girl standing next to the Silver haired girl, the referee calls the match on accounta knock out.

And I’m Like… Emma and Dana have tried a multitude of things to get at Asuka, nothing has worked. They either need a new plan, or need to get some foreign objects prepared for Emma’s battle next week. I am not sure extra aggression will do the trick for the Aussie. That match should be a hard hitting and submission frenzied affair.

The Hype Bros. say that Blake and Murphy are guaranteed the guys who go number 2 at the club. They prolly poop at parties .

Then we cut to Blake and Murphy. Blake is wearing the same style shirt as Alexa Bliss, it looks like a female Freddie Kruger sweater . Alexa said she was upset and was embarrassed by Blake and Murphy. Murphy called her babe, she said not to babe her. She then glares at the camera with her Skeletor gloves . Alexa Blake and Murphy are legit dressed like 80’s horror/sci fi. Weird.

The Drifter gets another video package. I wonder what his theme song will be. He is the real ONE MAN BAND!?!?

Blake and Murphy w/Alexa Bliss vs. Hype Bros

What is going on with Blake and Murphy. They don’t have characters, Corey Graves points out the Kruger clothes. Says it’s red and green so in the festive spirit.

The crowd chants “hey we want some MoJo” and Mojo does the funniest hype dance. Clapping and hip swinging while crouching like this was Dance Party USA .

Ryder is taking care of Blake and Murphy himself, he went for a Broski Boot and Blake got in the way, Ryder dispatched of him and hit the boot on Blake. That doesn’t last long though and the former tag champions are able to work over Ryder enough for the NXT Arena to cheer for a hot tag.

Mojo comes in with a head of steam and hits explosive shoulder blocks to a loud response from the crowd. Mojo hit a tornado punch like he was Kerry Von Erich but only gets a two count.

Ryder was yelling at the ref and Blake and Murphy tried to take advantage of it with an eye poke. Ryder was there for his partner and they were able to bring it all together for the Hype Ryder to win the match.

And I’m Like… I used to be a big Zack Ryder guy, he went the way of The Miz for me and didn’t evolve his character. This Hype Bros thing had me sour since day one. The pairing with Bayley opened my eyes to how fun the team can be. Mojo on breaking ground won me over to want to see this guy succeed because he gets what WWE style wrestling is all about, in and out of the ring. Blake and Murphy are very confusing with what they are trying, but they are trying and that counts.

Joe and Corbin talk in the back about facing Apollo Crews and Finn Balor. Baron says Apollo is a no body rookie who deserves nothing. Joe says that he fought by Finn’s side and kept his word, when he asked Balor for reciprocity, Finn wasn’t there for him.

Bayley vs. Peyton Royce

Bayley is out with a smile and shoulder dances. She does the belt five with other fans now, which makes me think if that makes Izzy jealous or not. She was integral to the Sasha/Bayley feud but seems to have taken her stance back at fan status.

Peyton comes out to that horrible song she came out to before. She keeps like smelling a flower? It’s something to set her apart but she smells the flower like 5 times in the entrance. It doesn’t synchronize to her music or set up any unique camera angles. Peyton enters the ring differently too but it looks awkward. She is trying this slow moving type character, like Finn’s early entrances or something. I’m sure six months from now it will all be figured out.

Bayley wasn’t impressed with the rose smelling though and took control early on. Peyton was able to hit a vicious knee and the pin didn’t count cause Royces leg was under the rope. NXT Arena tries the “Ay We Want Some Bayley” chant but it’s played out like it was Hotline Bling .

Bayley hit a Bayley to Belly after kicking out of a roll up. The match didn’t have much of a story I think. That is just me though, maybe I missed it.

Nia Jax music hits before Bayley can celebrate. The crowd boo’s Eva and she puts her hands up and spins cause that’s all she knows how to do. Nia takes the mic from Eva and says “I don’t need you to do the talking for me” Nia starts talking about how she is destined for greatness but the crowd showers her in boo’s. Nia doesn’t say anything that holds any substance. Her voice is high pitched enough to wake up my daughter though. So thanks Nia Jax. You want real heel heat? You got it from me and my crying daughter.

And I’m Like… Does Bayley defend the title next week? I know Nia is her opponent, I just don’t know who. The story is progressing nicely.

We see a video package of Sami Zayn when he injured his shoulder being super hyped for the United States championship match against John Cena. That match was tremendous and EVERYONE is stoked for Sami to come back. I feel like he is the embodiment of NXT. He is wrestling with heart on it’s sleeves. He is indie, he is amazing, he is everything NXT is.

Apollo Crews and Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin and Samoa Joe

I believe Apollo needs a manager. I know there aren’t many babyface managers, but NXT could do wonders with one. There could be like the Arnold Skaaland of the brand. Apollo just sounds so non organic when he talks.

I see there is a kid by Izzy dressed like Demon Finn, face paint and all. Izzy was tapping Finn during his entrance too, Balor is too focused to pay any mind.

As Baron Corbin comes out, it amazes me how big he looks. He isn’t the size of a giant or anything, yes a big man, but he would be small fry if this was late 80’s. That is something I like about having so many wrestlers under 6 feet. The guys over six-foot-five look like monsters by comparison now.

I am torn on this match. These guys all have matches next week so it takes away some of that luster. Right away though when Finn is in Joe tags Corbin, when Apollo is in Baron tags Joe. That keeps separation between the guys we want to see fight so that helps too.

We come back from break and we got Corbin beating on Crews. Baron does something worth noticing. When he was looking to tag Joe in, he stepped on Apollo’s fingers so Crews couldn’t get away.

The match breaks down after a while, Apollo was working over Baron on the outside while Joe worked out of the shotgun dropkick and Coquina Clutched Finn Balor till he drooled all over Samoa Joe’s arm like he was my daughter spitting up her milk. Apollo was fighting Baron to the back because Crews got too wrapped up in his own feud.

As Joe’s music plays he grabs the NXT title and taunts over a fallen Finn Balor. They keep zooming in on Finn with spit all over his face. It’s like when Owen beat Bret at Wrestlemania 10 and Owen had that spit gob.

And I’m Like… Feeling like Finn Balor will retain. The way the WWE roster is looking right now, Finn could be called up sooner than later. Even though HHH doesn’t like calling guys up unless they have a long term plan with the character. With Zayn coming back and Joe, Corbin, and Crews waiting for a shot. Plus Hideo Itami should return soon. Finn Balor’s spot will be taken pretty quickly if he moves on. NXT is still the best wrestling show on television in my eyes, even with a sub par episode like tonight. Sub par in NXT is still extraordinary in WWE.

Lucy my daughter is still fussy from that Nia Jax promo so I’m off to try and make a baby GTS! Where is Hideo when you need him?

Hey everyone, sorry for the late review. My brother had heart surgery a few weeks ago and is still suffering from complications, long story short, after this fluid drain he should be ok. Here is hoping he is! (Is that how that phrase goes?)

Times like these is when I love wrestling the most. I’ve had a turbulent life like the majority of people. Deaths, loneliness, unable to convey the right emotions, depression, and all that. Those are the times that wrestling is my truest form of escapism. There is this universe where the good and bad fight it out, larger than life characters meet blue collar everyman folk heros. Perseverance, rising above the odds, overcoming obstacles, facing adversity and fighting through it. The older I got the more I started paying attention to the people behind the characters. I would watch documentaries, read books, youtube videos, podcasts, dirt sheets and the like. I started realizing these people go through the same ups and downs we do. That these people are just that PEOPLE. Now my escapism has turned into a way I can chase my dreams while staying in the reality that is working everyday. I can watch these people, come through so many doors to enter the same place and show that in fantasy and reality you can still persevere, rise above odds, overcome obstacles, and face adversity by fighting through it.

I’m glad I have wrestling to have my back, to make me happy, to make cry tears of joy, to feel pride, to bring out the emotions I sometimes suppress. NXT is the main emotional driver for me. Maybe because the talents are around my age. Maybe because this is where the people fight the hardest and are the closest to their dreams. Maybe because this show executes what I thing wrestling should be on an almost weekly basis. Whatever it is, in times like these, I’m glad to have wrestling, and glad to have NXT. Onto the show.

Emma w/ Dana Brooke vs. Shazza

It might just be me, but I think Emma’s theme song has changed a bit, added drums to the beginning maybe? I don’t know but it is DOPENESS.

Who the heck is Shazza? Another one from Australia? Is Australia a hot-bed for women’s wrestling? Should I be paying attention to that continent more? Whoever Shazza is, she is very bouncy and the crowd is “Aussie Aussie Aussie OY OY OY”ing them.

Shazza does some more bouncy dancing and Emma is having none of it. Emma lays out a stiff dropkick and she is DOMINATING Shazza!

In my mind she is taking all her anger out from when she was normal Emma. Shazza is from Australia like Emma, she is bouncy and happy to be here, just like Emma. Emma knows that shit might fly in NXT, but soon you’ll just become a footnote of the main roster. She is reminded of where she was and what she has become.

This is her face in a matter of seconds…

From a condescending look to complete rage. Emma’s on another level with her character work.

The crowd does an awesome “Go, Go, Go” like Emma’s theme song is some sort of phat hip-hop beat.

And I’m Like… That was almost gruesome in how much Emma was kicking Shazza’s ass. Even after Emma wins she just kicks and boots Shazza out of the ring so she can taunt. The character works so well on NXT but translated into WWE she might just be another angry Diva.

James Storm is saying all of his catchphrases. He is not looking at the camera, he is looking at Tom Phillips the whole time. He references that he is NXT, and is very very hype about him being in NXT. Good for him!

Finn Balor video package, same one from a few months ago. Still emotional as hell. Finn lived like he had no fear even if he did. He believed in himself, and fucking did it! You can see he is living the dream, he didn’t want to get by just being normal. I feel that way too, yet I seem to be THE MOST NORMAL at this moment in my life. I am tearing up during this Finn video. NXT is so good at these videos. Here is to making wrestling better as a whole Finn. (Is that how that phrase works?)

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

As Jordan and Gable make their way to the ring, I can’t help but think. What happened to pop noises? Like Flair’s WOOOOO before his song, or the No Chance mumbling before McMahons theme. The IF YA SMEELLLLL! or glass breaking. It seems we don’t get that anymore, just music building.

The “Gable” chant that goes to Kurt Angles theme song has changed thanks to Full Sail. Now its “Gable…Jordan…Gable..Jordan” Which like.. that is cool we aren’t forgetting about Jason Jordan. Even though Gable is clearly the Shawn Michaels of this team. Ciampa and Gable do this awesome test of strength spot where somehow they end up doing a reverse test of strength.

Gable and Ciampa chain wrestle their ass off to tremendous cheers of “This is Wrestling” Biff will be welcomed with open arms . Gargano is in the ring so maybe the “This is Wrestling” chant was for Johnny Wrestling? Jason Jordan does a great suplex to Gargano and tags Gable in who says “Thank You” and Jordan says “Your Welcome”. They are so so good as a damn team. I’m loving these guys, and Gargano and Ciampa are perfect opponents to make them look great!

Gable does the cross-armbreaker over the ropes but what’s great is he sets it up in so many ways. He get’s on all fours to trip up Ciampa then does an amazing looking arm drag monkey flip?

The crowd chants “This is awesome” and they are right. Gargano hits a beautiful mid-rope spring shoulder block and sells his shoulder afterwards, not sure if he is actually hurt or very very good at wrestling.

Now that Gable is getting worked over for a while a “Save TheGable” chant breaks out. Great hot tag chant. Everything about this damn team is breathtaking. I feel like I am all over Jordan and Gable, but Gargano and Ciampa are on point too! This match can’t be praised enough at the moment. Sure, my emotions are running high and the crowd is very enthused, but this match makes me feel like all I need for entertainment is professional wrestling.

Jordan finally gets the hot tag and takes down both Ciampa and Gargano with punches and dropkicks. He drops the straps down to prove he is serious, does a T-Bone suplex that would make Shelton Benjamin jealous. The crowd is so into this match they almost forget to get themselves over by chanting. There are for real too many good moves and sequences to capture it all in picture and words. The facial expressions, the energy, the WRESTLING! My Gawd you guys the TAG TEAM WRESTLING. Young Bucks signed with the wrong three letters if they want the best tag team wrestling, its with Gable and Jordan. A beautiful running throwing back suplex pin thing that needs to be named for the win.

And I’m Like… Feeling how Jordan looks. This is great for these guys, they look so hype/proud/grateful. They are fully accepted by the Full Sail community. With really no character work either. Just a catchphrase, witty banter, and WRESTLING. Glad Gable is from Minnesota, we finally have a hometown boy to cheer to the top. Lesnar is already at the top, and Axle is halfway to purgatory.

Bayley is interviewed and says she doesn’t get why Alexa doesn’t like the fact that Bayley is a role model. Not much fire or story, just a rehash of what they have established.

Eva Marie says she is the Red Queen of NXT. So we need more “Off with the head” and less whatever she is doing. Go full Alice in Wonderland about it. Since Eva Marie is the rabbit hole of wrestling. Everything is upside down with her. She is legit bad at wrestling and promo’s. So much so that that became her character, so the better she gets, the worse it is for her character, unless she gets better at being bad. Then it’s a mindfuck.

Kay Lee Ray vs. Nia Jax

Kay Lee Ray comes out to chanty uppity techno music. She is from Scotland and legit surprised me she isn’t from Australia. Nia Jax comes out and Rich Brennen says “SHE’S THE COUSIN OF THE ROCK” at least Nia’s theme song is on point with her character .

Nia does a collar and elbow with Ray and Kay Lee gets backed into the corner, goes “WHOA” presumably from Nia’s power. Nia is just slowly decimating Kay Lee until Kay Lee gets little fists of flurries in. Nia dodges a high risk attempt by Ray in such a smart way.

She just stepped backwards, that shit don’t happen enough. I don’t have much to say because I don’t know these characters enough and the story is your simple David vs. Goliath story. Nia catches a springboard attempt by Kay Lee and then hits her with The Verdict and follows that up with a leg drop for the win.

And I’m Like… A black woman doing Hogan’s finisher? Yes please! For one Nia is bigger so that move works, for two FUCK THE LEG DROP take it off Hulk and put it on someone who can use it in 2015. Nia is alright for the moment, I would like to know more about her though. Motivations and shit.

The Realest Guys in the Room vs. Carolina Wrecking Crew

Realest guys come out to the music intro like normal. Carmella is energetic and I think will get cheered more the more Breaking Ground episodes air. Enzo and Cass’ theme song though. Enzo says “Up in the Club, stacking up dubs, while you in the lobby”. I know dub has a few meanings, but I can’t quite figure out what dubs he is stacking. If it is short for W, then he is stacking up wins inside of a club. not a ring. If it’s dollars, he is broke, Benjamins not Jacksons ‘Zo. If it is narcotics, I kinda get that one. If they are rims or remixes… how can you stack that in a club? Why would it matter I was in the lobby. ‘ZO! you got some Splanin’ to do!

Want to know how to get boo’d by Full Sail? Beat up the Realest Guys before they teach ‘You Can’t Teach That’. Cass’ knee hits the video board on the ring and INJURY!! The Crew us wrecking legs! Sweet. Dawson holds Cass’ leg in a leg lock, Dash jumps off the ropes and DESTROYS Big Cass! Cass knee needs an A-W-P-O-R-A-T-I-O-N.

And I’m Like… Fuel to the fire baby, this tag feud is getting good. Big Cass was the reason CWC lost, so take dude out. Genius.

Alexa Bliss gets interviewed while Blake and Murphy wear their shirts! Alexa Bliss sounds like she has a bunch of cottonmouth . She sounds like a girl and not a woman and that type of voice bugs me SOOO MUCH. She challenged Bayley and two dudes in a Mixed six person tag. Get her Bayley.

Apollo Crews Video-

He is still awestruck at the life he has now. What he has seen in his life, and what he has accomplished is impressive and inspiring. I am not into him much as a character or wrestler, I’m not sure why, I just don’t feel it.. yet. This video is so great though, you can see how he is so humble and at the same time feels like he deserves to be here. He seems like a genuinely good person. I feel like he is someone a company can trust, someone who aspires to be more, and someone that could become a vital cog in the machine that is WWE. He is part of the future, and part of spreading wrestling around the world. He says he never wants to feel the satisfaction that he proved himself, he wants to keep striving for more. That is a type of thinking you would want in any company that you run.

Tyler Breeze vs. Samoa Joe

Tyler has a theme song that has a bunch of people saying his name THEN a music intro THEN his song. I wish he just had girls scream TYLER then the song starts, only because when it takes so long for the song to kick in, the crowd will cheer at different times. At least with Austin’s song the glass break was the cue for the crowd to pop at the same time. Hence “pop noise”. That is just a want that I have. More pop noises!

Joe and Breeze begin the match and Tyler quickly goes to the outside. Joe keeps coming at him trying to fight, but Tyler is all “No, nah, no no no.” Frustrating Joe, hopefully Tyler doesn’t pay for this through beatings. Joe chased Breeze to the outside and Prince Pretty penetrated Joe’s defense. After a move or two its taunt time!

Joe gives Breeze a quick kick in the ass and rapid fire strikes Mr. All Model. Breeze goes to the outside but Joe just dives at him to take us to commercial break.

I know the storyline is “Breeze cost Joe a title shot, so revenge” I just don’t feel like caring about this. I care about Breeze taking it to Dolph Ziggler and cementing himself in the mid-card. I care about Joe being in a feud with someone, just not Tyler. Maybe calling Breeze up made my feelings change?

Joe is mad though, kicking and chopping the pretty off of The Prince. Tyler Breeze is still debuting new signature moves still.

I wish wrestlers would win with their signature move more every now and then, to add believability to the nearfalls. Tyler had the match in control until he yelled at the referee.

I perceive the story as “Breeze can beat Joe if he is focused, since he gets distracted easily, Joe can work in some offense.” Breeze is granite and Joe is the hammer. You hit granite with a hammer enough and it will crack, Joe just needs to swing and hit Tyler alot to crumble Cuteville.

Joe beats Breeze pretty hard then screams “Is this what you wanted?!?!” He goes for the Muscle Buster but Breeze reversed it into a schoolboy, Joe kicked out but got kicked by a Supermodel for two also.

We get to Yay/Boo territory that at Full Sail sounds like “BoAY/BoAY” cause the crowd is torn. After some rope running , Joe gets caught in an O’Connor roll but kicks out and turns the kick out into the Coquina Clutch for the win.

And I’m Like… That was a well wrestled match with meaning behind it. I wasn’t emotionally involved or wow’d by anything, but it was still very good. NXT delivers this episode.

The FINNale of the show is Balor talking about how excited he is to face Apollo Crews next week. He went “tru 15 years of hell to get dis tidle” He is not losing next week.

Well that was a good time, wasn’t it? If I seem too positive all the time, my apologies, it’s just nice to get lost in what I love. These are all people trying their best to hone their craft and entertain the audience. They chased their dreams, caught em and ran with em. I am pulling for almost every person to succeed, and am happy to watch them try.

Hey you all! Today was pretty eventful, let me tell you what. Before we get into another episode of NXT, I would like to share some of my life headlines in the past 24 hours. At 10 P.M. last night, my caretaker caught three individuals trying to steal the bicycles in the apartment complex. Later, apartment 5 had their car stolen. I got to work around 2 A.M. to pre-cook the bacon in the oven, our homeless teenager showed up around 5 A.M. and said he couldn’t get a ride to school. My dad showed up to give him a ride, shortly after that my niece (our server) showed up and said at around 10:30 the night before her boyfriend got mugged in his driveway. Wallet and cell phone gone. We had a slow day at the restaurant, but a hell of a lot to talk about.

That was in our town of Anoka though, at least we didn’t end up like Champlin this week and had a woman threaten to eat children.

On to NXT.

Video Package and Intro Video-

The battle royal video package caught us up with the goings on in NXT. Dash and Dawson (who I call the Carolina Wrecking Crew) threw out Big Cass. Enzo threw CWC over the top rope. Baron Corbin betrayed Rhyno and tossed him over the top rope. Tyler Breeze was eliminated, stayed around ringside, when Samoa Joe was on apron, Tyler helped eliminate Joe. Apollo Crews became the new #1 contender.

And I’m Like… That was a nice refresher and laid precedence for the rest of the night.

Asuka vs. Billy Kay

Asuka is THE MOST BADASS. Kudos to the entrance and theme song to add to her aura. It’s becoming harder to pick favorite entrances in NXT, they put so much effort into the overall presentation and sometimes it really shows.

As Billy Kay makes her way out with a horrendous theme song , I’m reminded how there is a long road to a well presented entrance. As her entrance happens she does a picture-in-picture promo “I’ve face Asuka in the past, I’ve too wrestled across the world and I have the longest limbs in NXT.” Her theme song says she wants to be spun round and round and round and then something something sexy sexy sexy.

Asuka goes for a handshake, but Billy Kay rejects it and shows aggression out the gate. Billy Kay does an outstanding stalling suplex. Billy won’t give Asuka any space, knowing that if she gives Asuka even a smidgen of seperation, Asuka is gonna let loose strikes of fury. Asuka got that chance and kicked Billy Kay so hard ASUKA was wobbled by the impact.

Asuka is so charismatic, I realized she does a lot of shoulder movements and spirit fingers . I noticed that Sasha Banks does shoulder rolls also. Maybe to extrude charisma with body-language it’s all in the hips , and shoulders. There is a constant energy with Asuka as she wrestles, she does very quick strikes and finishes off Billy Kay with the Asuka Lock (Crossface Chicken Wing)

And I’m Like… That was fun, except for Billy Kay’s entrance. Asuka has such a sinister smile that makes it seem like she relishes the pain her opponent provides.

I’m excited to see more from Asuka.

Tyler Breeze has some words for Joe. “Joe, If I’m not #1 contender, your not.”

Realest Guys in the Room (Enzo Amore and Big Cass) w/ Carmella vs. Carolina Wrecking Crew (Dash and Dawson)

As the entrances happen, something is missing. It’s the passionate energy that Enzo and Cass bring to their entrance, they seem disingenuous. They still spit rhymes, this time about Halloween. “We ain’t handin’ out trick or treatins’, we handin out beatins.”

CWC on the other hand, they look focused and ready for business. The announce team is really putting over CWC, talking about how they almost won the Dusty Classic and destroyed Finn’s knee. Zo and Cass must know the story going forward isn’t about them, maybe that’s why they seem un-enthused, maybe I’m assuming too much.

The match is mainly telling the story of ‘CWC works over Enzo’s leg.’ One high point in the match is when Dawson had Enzo in a submission and grabbed the ear of Amore. That is character work you guys, making them rough and tough looking. Zo was about to tap and Cass came in to save the match. Enzo gets a quick roll-up on Dawson.

CWC does a post match attack and impressively hit the Shatter Machine on Cass. Now all we need is some sort of leg finisher or signature for Dash and Dawson so the leg work makes sense.

And I’m Like… That was a match needed to further legitimize CWC as tag contenders. I think a running feud with them and either The Vaudevillians or Blake and Murphy would be very fun to witness.

Rhyno video package about all of his achievements. World champion, U.S. Champion, then how he is gonna make a statement in NXT.

Eva Marie is in Paris and is trying to make us miss her, it is not working. The problem or maybe solution to Eva Marie is have her gimmick be ‘she is bad at what makes wrestling good’ So then we can’t tell if she is doing this on purpose or not.

Danny Burch vs. James Storm

crowd is shocked

NXT crowd chants “you belong here” Rich Brennen says “James Storm started out in WCW and spent 15 years on the indies.” It’s funny to me that NXT considers TNA the indies. TNA Ya Burnt . The crowd is heavily behind Storm. After so many debuts I’ve noticed it’s hard to judge a first match because NXT is a different beast than what most wrestlers are used to. After the Eight Second Ride , Storm gets the pin.

And I’m Like… The future is interesting, James Storm has always had an old school southern edge to him. Most storylines seem to be spoken for, so I’m wondering who he will have his first feud against.

Apollo Crews gets a title shot in two weeks at a normal NXT event and not a Takeover. Strange.

Apollo Crews Video Package

“It takes guts to chase a dream… What I fear the most is failing.” That is so true, I admit that I personally suffer from the fear of failure. Sometimes I’m frozen by it. Props to Crews for staying true to himself and his dreams.

He says he lived all over the world because his dad was in the United Nations. His parents divorced when he was under the age of 10, and he lived with his dad in Uganda. To get close to his dad, Apollo remembers watching wrestling as a father son activity. When Crews went to America to visit his mother in Atlanta, life was vastly different. Apollo’s mother was below the poverty line, while his father was pretty well off. That being said, it was hard for Apollo to adjust sometimes. He would want a certain toy or WWE replica title, and his mom, as broke as she was, after working three jobs, would still spoil Apollo. While he was looking back on his life, he started to cry at the sacrifices his mom made for him. It was such touching moment.

Apollo said when he came to the revelation that he loved wrestling and wanted to be a wrestler, that’s the only thing he put his energy into. Crews said his dad told him he could never make it in wrestling. Apollo said the motivation to be the best at wrestling started with proving his dad wrong, later it became self-motivation to be the best.

And I’m Like… Damn NXT. I know I don’t enjoy the character of Apollo Crews, or how his matches play out on television. As a person though, he is really hard not to root for. I want to see him succeed.

They say part two is next week, I’m excited to get emotionally invested into Apollo Crews, it will add alot to his matches for me.

Alexa Bliss w/Blake and Murphy vs. Peyton Royce

Peyton Royce HAS THE SAME THEME SONG AS BILLY KAY. Blake and Murphy have their sweet T-shirts on.

As the crowd chants for Peyton Royce she gets alot of early near falls on Bliss. Alexa is keeping up with Peyton with energy and movement taunting while on offense also. Alexa works the arm over and puts her in what I call an NXT Lock,

all NXT people do this hold. Royce hits a bunch of kicks as Graves says “She has legs for days” She doesn’t have the longest limbs because Billy Kay. Bliss hits the Sparkle Splash for the win. Alexa says “I’m what people strive to be and I was made to be NXT Champion” To a chorus of boo’s.

And I’m Like… The match was swell, I’m just not into Alexa Bliss, I don’t know if it’s the character, or I haven’t spent enough time getting to become emotionally invested.

Baron Corbin vs. Rhyno

During Corbin’s entrance some girl scream extremely loud, it’s gross. NXT should provide earplugs.

Collar and elbow to start the hard hitting affair. Quick question, does NXT have the LED boards around every side of the ring? If so, can they still grab weapons from underneath?

As they brawl to the outside Corey Graves says “This won’t be a technical masterpiece.” Which is code for “bowling shoe ugly” which is code for brawling and that’s about it.

We come back from commercial with Corbin irish whipping Rhyno into the corner, followed by a replay of the irish whip followed by another irish whip. Then we see Corbin innovate the NXT Lock.

This match is missing something.

I’m sure if this happened in 1983, I would love it. I guess if I view Corbin as an 80’s wrestler, I would like him better. He is old school in a lot of ways, in the same vein that Rhyno is. The longer the match goes the more my perspective changes and I begin to really enjoy it. Rhyno gets a flurry of offense and hits a few wrestling moves. Belly to Belly suplex into a Spinebuster. Rhyno hits the Gore and Corbin kicked out. Second Gore attempt by Rhyno and Baron Corbin Ended Rhyno’s Days.

And I’m Like… That was a good old school affair. I did not like it at the beginning but the more I related it to being a King Kong Bundy vs. Terry Gordy match the more I began to like it.

Samoa Joe ends the show calling Tyler Breeze desperate for calling him out. Joe says “get out your selfie stick… take a picture.. cause after next week you’ll never look the same again.”

And I’m Like… That was one of those foundation episodes. It is the building blocks of what will be the next Takeover, emotions are low but will soon become high.

Hopefully tonight will be safer for my family and I, and for you as well. Thank goodness I have wrestling, that is my form of escapism. If you enjoyed anything please like or share or tweet or do what you can do to spread the word.

Hello everyone, I am reviewing NXT as it happens tonight and not during work like usual. My brother had a successful heart surgery and is recovering, he is in pain but that’s expected. I’ll watch NXT and review it like I do Raw. Then rewatch it for screen grabs.

NXT Opening Video

• We get a Takeover:Respect video package.
• I’ve watched that Sasha and Bayley match three times now.. Still gets me!
• This video package makes this Ironman match seem even more epic than it was when I watched it for the first time.
• Love you NXT!

Bayley Promo

• Bayley comes out to the crowd clapping along to the beat.
• Huge air fives to everyone in the crowd and “Bayley” chants
• Before she can start her promo, she looks very proud and humbly receives “match of the year” chants
• She says the whole Takeover Special was all about Respect.
• Dusty Rhodes is a huge reason why the Diva’s are where they are
• Bayley reiterates that she always dreamed of this, just like Sasha Banks. “You Deserve It” chants fill the arena
• She said they raised the level in the Diva’s Revolution. “Woman’s Wrestling” chants and she said “Yes we want Woman’s wrestling to be respected.”
• Alexa Bliss comes out? Surprising!

Alexa Bliss Confronts Bayley

• As Alexa stands there she is showered in boo’s
• “Bayley, what you accomplished last week, was incredible, I was in total awe. No one deserves to be champ more than you do right now. That’s really all I had.”
• Alexa looks like she is a bout to cry and says she is happy to share this moment with Bayley
• She then steals the Woman’s belt. “I’m not like you Bayley, I didn’t write about this when I was 10.”
• My wife says Bayley doesn’t look threatened.. she looks like “bitch please”
• Alexa says Bayley doesn’t deserve to be champion.

And I’m Like… Intrigued that Alexa is the new challenger. Bayley is a fighting champion and I’m sure she can put a good match on with any Diva. Good starting off point, we are already emotionally invested and Alexa is already getting “your not worthy” chants.

Finn and Joe have a post-match interview on WWE.com about their win. William Regal shows up to congratulate them. Joe says that tagging with Finn was an honor. He tells Balor he could have gone about it many different ways but he would like a shot at the title. Finn says you got it. Regal says well “it’s not that easy, focusing on the tag tournament, we’ve lost focus on who is number one contender.” Regal says next week(which is this week) is a Number One Contender Battle Royal. Joe looks frustrated.

And I’m Like… NXT is awesome, in under 10 minutes, they begin two new title feuds and both make sense, have a tangible sporting aspect to it, and have characters with emotions. No matter what that battle royal will be fun cause there will be consequence.

Another Breaking Ground preview and my wrestling allergies are starting to flare up. This will be such a linchpin to caring about the NXT Superstars.

Tye Dillenger talks about tonight’s battle royal “There can only be ONE number one contender, and that’s the perfect 10”

Apollo Crews “Since day one since I got here I said I wanted to be NXT champion. Once I win and beat Finn Balor I’ll be the NXT champion”

Rhyno “In my mind I’ve already won the battle royal because I was the face of a revolution, I was the last ECW Champion, and tonight when I win the battle royal I will be the face of the New Revolution”

Vaudevillians vs. Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton

• The Vaudevillians have quite the following in NXT and have such a great entrance. Talk about creating an image and setting yourself apart.
• Sawyer looks like The Barbarian
• Angelo looks like MVP’s little brother
• Byron Saxton says that Sawyer Fulton is weird because “he once told me he wrestles with thumbtacks in his boots to keep him on edge.”
• Simon Gotch hits a beautiful innovative hot tag combination. “That was manly” chants
• The Whirling Dervish puts away Angelo Dawkins and the Vaudevillians get the crowd a clapping in approval

And I’m Like… Reminded that the Villains are our champions of the tag division and that the teams waiting in the wings are still looking pretty good.

Carolina Wrecking Crew ask Devin Taylor if they thought the match was impressive. They say it’s impressive to the untrained eye. They do some math with dividing and rounding and figure themselves Number One Contenders. Dawson says in his mind “We are the champions right now.” Dash shows humor with “oh what a beautiful mind.” CWC puts The Realest Guys in the Room on notice. “When we render a body part useless, we completely tear apart their anatomy.” They tell Devin to ask Enzo and Cass “how you doin?”

And I’m Like… Happy we can see some character work out of CWC. Kinda cocky and goofy. Serious in the ring though, I like it.

Asuka and Dana Brooke recap, we are reminded how Asuka is THE badass. Dana gets her neck checked by the trainer as Asuka shows up to pat Brooke on the head and smile at Emma. Dana says she beat Asuka and Emma tells the trainer to “check her head”

Evie vs. Nia Jax

• Evie? That will confuse my cousin cause there is already a Eva Marie that my cousin calls Eve. AND THERE IS AN OLD DIVA NAMED EVE!
• Nia is debuting and supposed to be dominating.. First thought, her song is not frightening
• Nia is like Beth Pheonix and Awesome Kong had a kid. I want to see her against ODB!
• Nia is using her weight to her advantage. She does running splashes and hip attacks. The crowd is trying to be hype but it’s not really working.
• Nia starts talking poop to Evie and Evie lands a few kicks but then gets caught in the Verdict made famous by David Otunga

And I’m Like… Waiting to form an opinion, this was my first glance and I can’t really decide if I like her or not. We will see.

We see a video package of Sasha and Bayley again. It’s different than the earlier one. This time we have actual Superstars talking about how amazing the match was. My cousin did not like it “cause we knew what would happen”. I’m glad he will see that he is in the minority and this is something to get accustomed too. Once the pride of what these women are doing wears off, this will become routine and not so emotional. Damn though! I’m loving this ride we are on.

Tyler Breeze “Anyone who needs an opportunity at the NXT Title, It’s me Prince Pretty.”

Baron Corbin “when its all said it done there will be one man left standing, the Lone Wolf, your new number one contender, All Hail”

Eva Marie cuts a promo in Paris. Her promo is super shitty. She says she has had grueling matches, I won’t boo her for that, I will boo her cause she is not good at her job…. yet?

Number One Contender Battle Royal

• We join during Rhynos entrance followed by Baron Corbins, the majority of the competitors are already in the ring.
• Samoa Joe comes out next. This NXT entrance trope has me believing that whoever we witness coming out will be one of the guys that win.
• CWC and Rhyno and Baron Corbin all beat on Joe cause he was part of the team that eliminated all 4 guys in the Dusty Tag Classic
• Joe almost got eliminated. I remember Jim Ross saying Battle Royals are the hardest to call. That makes sense to me because I’m trying to find talking points but there is just so much going on.
• I always wondered, maybe it has happened but not to my knowledge, why hasn’t anyone handcuffed themselves to the middle rope in a battle royal?
• Steve Cutler got eliminated and so did Danny Burch and The Drifter, all by Apollo Crews
• Apollo throws Johnny Gargano over the top onto the enhancement talents and Commercial?
• We are back from commercial and I don’t know who has been eliminated
• Enzo has polka dot pants.. Sweet.
• Alot of near eliminations but alot of standing around too.
• I realized I like Royal Rumbles better than Battle Royals because of the countdown. When there is more than like six people in the ring I get too lost in what’s going on. I like stories in my matches. Royal Rumble has the ability to tell so many stories. I guess Battle Royals do too, it’s just harder for me to follow personally.
• Big Cass and CWC were eliminated, also some tall guy.
• Enzo was tossed over by 10 Dillenger, Tye was beat up and thrown over by Bull Dempsey.
• Bull gets eliminated by Corbin and Rhyno. Mojo too. Thank you Baron
• Zack Ryder is in this and Woo Woo Woo! That’s sad for his career. I mean I know people like Tyson Kidd re-energized his career in NXT but Ryder has never evolved from who he was in 2012
• Breeze is getting all the cheers from the crowd. He is who the NXT crowd wants to win.
• Zack Ryder gets thrown out and we hear “Let’s Go Tyler” Corbin throws Rhyno over the top and I’m sure Rhyno will respect that and want to do that again.
• We are back from another commercial and we got Blake, Murphy, Apollo Crews, Baron Corbin, Samoa Joe and Tyler Breeze
• Ciampa was thrown over the top during commercial, Blake and Murphy get eliminated simultaneously by Samoa Joe as the crowd goes “Breeze, Breeze”
• Joe eliminates Breeze and boo’s fill the arena. Does this happen in every Battle Royal now?
• Corbin got out of the Muscle Buster, Corbin tried eliminating Joe but Joe held on until Breeze took Joe out to “Thank You Tyler” chants? Why are we all against Joe all of a sudden?
• “Apollo” chants, I kinda feel like Corbin is winning cause Apollo doesn’t need the win to still look like he belongs.
• Baron Corbin will beat the Demon if Hideo Itami cannot. NXT crowd is chanting “We Want Tyler” and they became the evil fans I talked about on my Raw review .
• Apollo got all 5 moves of doom in until the Standing Moonsault that Corbin reversed. Apollo still lands like 4 kicks and clotheslines Corbin over the top.

And I’m Like… Whhhhaaaatt? That is surprising, this kid is getting pushed to the moon, Alice. I am not too satisfied if only for the fact that I’ve yet to become an Apollo Crews fan. I am so indifferent towards him, I’m not inclined to cheer or boo. Hopefully these next few weeks will build up some emotion for me.

Hello, hello everyone, we are one week away from NXT Takeover:Respect and we got some loose ends to wrap up before the big show. Without further hair do, lets do it.

Show Opening

Kyle Edwards runs down the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Jason Jordan who wants to be called JJ and Chad Gable advance to the semi finals.

Realest Guys in the Room vs. Finn Balor and Samoa Joe

Enzo does his sweet dance that I still mimic at times. The Realest Guys say “If you don’t give it all you got in honor of Dusty Rhodes, then we got ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE YOU…. S-A-W-F-T SAAAWWWFFTTT”

Finn comes out with an updated entrance song that Corey Graves picks up on. The old one was brooding, this one has more of a build up until the beat drops and heavier drums which adds alot of gravitas to his already entrancing entrance.

Joe and Cass start the match off, they do some moves to show they have matching power, they brawl to the outside but not before Cass tags in Enzo. Enzo reverses Finn and then dives to the outside to take Samoa Joe out. Not to be outdone, Finn does a flip splash onto Cass.

I like Enzo’s offense. All his big moves seem like they come from a source of desperation. Enzo adds something to any match he is in that is hard to define, but he is the only one I know of that brings it.

Enzo and Cass dominate early on and mid way into the match. Cass goes for his patented sidewalk slam and Joe has to legit jump and spin himself to help Cass do the move. After that The Realest Guys go for an Air Enzo but Joe kicks out. Samoa Joe turns that into a Muscle Buster and Finn Balor hits the Coup De Grais for the win.

And I’m Like… That was a fun match. I’m kind of surprised that The Realest Guys lost but at the same time it makes the most sense. If the Takeover special is dedicated to the tag tournament and Ironman match. Then that means we don’t have time for an NXT Title match. The best excuse on why not to have the match, would be because the champion is already wrestling in a match that night. This is a super team too, that also helps Enzo and Cass because it does not diminish their credibility.

Gargano and Ciampa Interview-

Johnny says they “went from the highest of highs, to the lowest of lows” which is a basic line, but the delivery was tremendous. It was very subtle but it was so good, when he said highest of highs  he raised his hand up and his eyes widened and he looked genuinely excited. He then said lowest of lows and as his hand dropped, so did his emotions. It had all the feeling in such a little part of the promo.

Ciampa says “our expectations for ourselves is threw the roof, they won’t focus on the past cause the future is now. This is only the beginning.” Good use of the NXT “the future is now” slogan to associate themselves with the new crop of NXT:Indy talent.

Gargano is asked about his opponent being Apollo Crews tonight and his response is that he is happy to go against a friend in Apollo Crews. That brings out Tyler Breeze because he has a match with Crews at Takeover:Respect. Breeze says a friend of Apollo’s is an enemy of his. Tyler says he will ask Regal for a shot at Ciampa tonight.

And I’m Like… That was great. Breeze is establishing himself as someone who can get what he wants out of Regal, Ciampa and Gargano have a character trait of the new guys on the block and developed a gimmick of “we are NXT” in a way. I haven’t seen something off putting or dislikeable out of these two yet.

We get an Asuka video package that shows off her intense striking ability. It really shows her unfuckwithableness.

Johhny Gargano vs. Apollo Crews

Johnny comes out to “Johnny Wrestling” chants. Gargano was struggling for offense until he hit this sweet rope submission and a diving spear.

Really making his mark in this match, I would like to dub Johnny “Mr. Maximize Your Minutes” because damn this dude knows how to leave his imprint. Whether in promos or in the ring, he established his signature moves after only three matches, is very innovative and makes the matches seem urgent and intense.

Crews takes control of the match by overpowering Johnny. Crews does the John Cena thing where its get beat up then 5 moves of doom and lol he wins.

And I’m Like… I am still not sold on Crews, he just seems very athletic and physically talented, but character wise is run of the mill. I hope to see more of Gargano though.

Regal is wanting us to see this announcement, he brings Dana Brooke and Emma in. He says they were disrespectful last week at Asuka’s contract signing. He makes Asuka vs. Dana Brooke at Takeover:Resect. The girls seem fine with it until Regal shows them a video of Asuka…

Ms. Egg Muffin Emma and Dana Brooke vs. Billy Kay and Peyton Royce

Classic non-entrance for the Aussies, which means its a showcase match. Royce and Kay do some good tag team wrestling, Billy Kay shows off her strength by an outStanding Suplex.

The bad girls cut off the ring and dominate the match. They do good at demeaning the Aussies and working on the same body parts like the Minnesota Wrecking Crew. This is just a well worked match. When Billy goes for a tag, Emma just kicks her hand away.

Peyton Royce tags in and does damage to Dana Brooke, she hits her signature kicks and then misses a crossbody. She must have slipped or something. They save the spot with Dana going for a pin and a smooth transition back to the planned match. Dana catches Peyton in her finisher after Emma holds Royces leg for the distraction.

And I’m Like… That wasn’t needed, but we should see Dana wrestle and win one more time before she gets DESTROYED.

Jason Jordan (JJ) and Chad Gable Interview

Jason is introduced by Devin Taylor but he says she should call him JJ from now on. She asked them how they will defy the odds of Corbin and Rhyno. Gable said it’s not odds, he asks Devin if she knows he has wrestled in the Olympics. She says yes. “Then don’t act like you don’t know when you do Devin.” JJ said they aren’t overcoming anything, Corbin and Rhyno can’t get along for one second let alone three. Gable said “It’s gonna be so sick, I’ve won alot of tournaments.” Devin tries to ask about Dash and Dawson, JJ says “It’s not likely they will advance.”

Dash and Dawson show up and say “Not likely? the last tie we saw you two jamokes in the ring we were the winners in the 8-man tag.” I just want to say I LOVE JAMOKE usage.

Dash really killed it there, this whole thing felt very organic.

And I’m Like… Bravo to both teams

Tomasso Ciampa vs. Tyler Breeze

They start with a catch as catch can pin dealy do, that ends with Breeze riding Ciampa like Whiplash and a Dog . Ciampa then lays out some frozen chops.

Tomasso hit a beautiful running knee without a kneepad. This match makes it seem like they are very similar and on even kilt. The announcers put over how Breeze is losing momentum from not achieving his goals and Ciampa is hitting high impact innovative offense.

The crowd is not reacting to nearfalls either. He hits a bunch more kicks and knees, then they believed the nearfall. Breeze hits a huge counter dropkick when Ciampa goes for a top rope move. That gets a two count and an applause from the crowd. Breeze shows alot of aggression and wins not with a Beauty Shot but an Unprettier .

And I’m Like… Gargano and Ciampa were fodder for Breeze and Crews. I really want Breeze to win next week, cause damn, NXT is lining up pins for the bowling ball of Apollo Crews to knock them down.

Rhyno and Corbin said as far as they are concerned the tourney is over and they won.

I don’t really have words for this. This will be amazing, I won’t know how to handle myself for 30 minutes. I don’t care who wins, I just care so much about the moment, about what is happening. Who cares that this is the main event, I mean yeah it means alot, but we knew these girls were main event status months ago, if not a year ago. This is just two amazing wrestlers tearing the house down. I love wrestling.

And the RESPECT logo looks like a Hershey bar.
