Hey it’s the Monday after Mania so one of the most exciting ones of the year because of crowds. I just gone done doing 4 different reviews and I am not gonna chit chat any longer guys, I am a little under the weather and my nose is Monday Night Raw.. Let’s get to it.
Raw Opening
HERE COMES THE MONEY!!!
And I’m Like… Shane lost and he gets to run the show? Lol, why jump off the cage? Oh man… Like if he does a good job, does that mean he gets to run the show for good? This baffles me and what the last few months were all about.
WWE Tag Team Championship
New Day (c) vs. League of Nations
And I’m Like… Maybe WrestleMania had all the adult crowd favorites lose, so they can win on Monday Night Raw. That way “the most raucous crowd” will cheer all night. Sheamus is sick and tired of ‘this’. He says they should be destroying everybody. Sheamus says there is something wrong and the crowd erupts in a Enzo and Cass “how you doin” chant. The League kicks King Barrett out of the League…? What is gonna happen to Barrett now? Well The Wyatt’s are out in the ring and they are beating up the LoN. So this is the new feud! Maybe Barrett will grow out a beard? The crowd starts chanting “he’s got the whole world in his hands” and Bray is loving it. The segment ends with the crowd chanting “thank you Wyatts”
Renee interviews Vince and McMahon says Shane running things is only temporary.
Summer Rae P romo?
Sasha Banks vs. Summer Rae
And I’m Like… That’s our girl!! They had to get her match out of the way so there wouldn’t be “We Want Sasha” chants all night. A little showcase match but it is totally cool.
Apollo Crews is seen in the back talking to Shane.
Tyler Breeze vs. Apollo Crews
And I’m Like… You know how I said this crowd reminds me of the Attitude Era crowd? Well this Raw reminds me of an Attitude Era Raw. We get debuts and twists and turns in the first hour. Each match is just to get catchphrases or moves in, also to advance storylines. It’s kind of jarring.
Roman Reigns Promo
Jericho Comes out
AJ Styles comes out
Kevin Owens COMES OUT!!
SAMI ZAYN!!!
And I’m Like… That was exciting, now that it is done though, what was it all for? What does it all mean? There were 4 guys that came out but they are all feuding with each other. Meaning Roman the Champion is the odd man out. No one really stepped up and nothing was really decided. Thanks Roman. I can’t even get my oversized cookie in the milk glass Thanks Roman .
Shane runs into Roman in the back. McMahon makes a fatal four way and the winner faces Roman. Thanks Shane I appreciate knowing what is going on. All of a sudden Roman is cool with Authority figures? HMM…
Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
And I’m Like… NXT Corbin hated Indie guys and was trying to make a name for himself. WWE Corbin makes a name for himself and is super stupid by getting counted out and getting mad bout it. I wonder where his story is headed. This is like the Season Premiere of the year. Which means we did not get a good season finale last night.
Intercontinental Title Match
Zack Ryder (C) vs. The Miz
A nd I’m Like… Poor Zack Ryder.. He had his moment, and his dad cost him his title. I hope this leads to a feud and not just.. whatever this was. Like is Maryse back? Will Ryders dad be involved in an angle. What would have happened if Neville didn’t get injured? Where is Mojo Rawley? Lot’s of questions over this match. That’s not a bad thing, That’s a good thing.
Kevin Owens is getting interviewed by Renee. They agree that it isn’t fair that Owens lost the title. Young brings up Sami Zayn and K.O. said Renee loves Sami and Kevin turns that into talk about becoming Number One contender and continuing to destroy the Roman Empire. “Tonight the road to K.O.Mania II begins”
THE VAUDEVILLIANS ARE COMING TO THE MAIN ROSTER?!?!? THEY are gonna be on Smackdown!! How cool is that!?!?! Exciting times!!
Woman’s Title Reveal
And I’m Like… Charlotte pointed out how certain women in WWE have been there for over 8 years, but she has been less than one. When it comes to controlling a crowd it shows. I don’t know who other than Stephanie could shut those fans up. Charlotte should have said that Bayley isn’t here but tonight is about all the women in the company. Instead she asked what the lyrics were..
There was a tables match and The Dudley’s won… Yeah that happened.
Renee Young interviews Sami Zayn. Sami says he has been in any match you can imagine that’s why he is the “Underdog from the Underground” He says tonight is the biggest night of his life. He needs to win to prove that he belongs here, he then.. gets attacked by K.O. Owens beats him down while yelling “prove it to the world” Owens powerbombs Sami through a table.
And I’m Like… Owens is afraid of Sami, Kevin knows Zayn knows Owens inside out. Owens only weakness that can be shone to the world is known by Zayn. Kevin has jumped Sami since day one in NXT/WWE. This feud is slowly building and I hope we are in it for the long haul.
The Dudleys are walking to the back and….
ENZO AND CASS!!!! The crowd is going nuts! That was quite the reaction… And ENZO is ON PHYA!! Cole says they are the most popular tag team in NXT. JBL is shocked at the size of Cass, even though JBL was general manager when Cass was in NXT. Enzo does his catchphrase and the crowd knows every word. I got the goosebumps you guys. Imagine me being the Rock and pointing at my arm… That’s how he shows his goosebumps. Enzo is killing it right now. Skywalker Smacktalker with a micsaver for some haters. He says they got some haters? and the camera pans to The Dudleyz. Enzo starts doing jokes. He told Devon he will put that lazy eye back to work. Devon lost it and kept say “you son of a bitch” Enzo is pulling old school John Cena rhymes and poop jokes. “Oh ENZO AMORE” soccer chant fills the arena. Cass told the Dudleys to do something about it. They go to the ring and then back up. Cass grabs the mic and spells out the one word to describe them S-A-W-F-T SAAWWFFFTT!!!
Enzo is white MR.T
Number One Contender Match
Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles vs. Cesaro
And I’m Like… What a fantastic match. Roman vs. AJ at Extreme Rules? Who would be able to predict that last year. This Raw was fun, I know they can’t all be like this. The crowd was hot, but they are full of themselves sometimes and get too caught up in the chanting. Sometimes I feel like you could take all the wrestlers out the arena and all the people in there would still chant shit. I am excited to see how things play out. What people are used and what ones aren’t, what can change and what probably won’t. Exciting times!!
Please share or like or tweet, it really helps me out!
Thank you so much for the read and have a good one!

We are one week away from WrestleMania! It’s what I consider THE ONLY holiday for me, which doesn’t mean I am always excited for the lead up. It’s just the only thing I know the date of and look forward to. I’ll talk some personal stuff in italics then we will get Raw.
I was at work today, like I am everyday, and we had some regulars come into the restaurant around closing time. They were “Grandpa and Grandma” we don’t know their real names but they call told us to call them that. Grandpa and Grandma have 7 children, 21 grandchildren, and 72 great-grandchildren. I believe there is a great-great-grandchild too. They are 88 and 90 years old and have been married 68 years. I like to chat with them as much as I can. Today we were talking about life lessons they have learned. They said things about being old makes you wise because of experience. They talk about how in love with the country the citizens were after World War II. Talk about the sacrifices you have to make in life and the tragedies one can go through. They were never well off, how could they be with 7 kids!?! Grandpa made ninety cents an hour when he started and by his retirement he was up to $13 an hour. They are two of the happiest people I have come across and when I asked why, they said “You need to go through depressions (the great depression) and hardship to truly appreciate what you have.” Grandpa then said “my father was born in 1890 and came to Minnesota in his teens. The first place he lived was a hole in a hill. They did that for a year until they could afford wood to build a house. My father always cherished houses and shelter.” That blew my mind, to live in a hole in a hill! I feel like with wrestling, a lot of people are in their hole in a hill homes. The wrestlers struggle everyday to make it to the main roster, the fans struggle through daily life and dreadful storylines to get to the wrestling that brings emotion, wrestling as a whole is not respected in mainstream community, so when there is some recognition, we cherish it like we would a house on a hill. I know the build to Mania has been subpar, but let’s hope this episode will provide some wood to build our shelter.
Monday Night Raw
Shane McMahon Promo
And I’m Like… I really think Shane is winning. If Undertaker loses, he “won’t wrestle at WrestleMania” even though if Shane wins, he is in control and can reverse that. Also, Undertaker laid out the fact that Vince’s blood is on Takers hands. Which means Vince is getting involved. Maybe he will sacrifice himself for Shane or something. It will be more spectacle than anything but Undertaker is known to thread quite a damn story together. That segment blew the Leap of Faith load so it will be interesting to see how they do a call back to it in the match. I liked the segment a lot.
And I’m Like… This is a feud to get AJ over. He is beating Jericho in probably a great match. This is probably what was supposed to happen with Fandango. Beat Jericho at Mania and become a top tier threat that isn’t quite WWE Championship material but good for wrestling feuds. AJ is a solid hand, he is a lot like your Jimmy Snuka’s and Paul Orndorff’s.
Sasha is sitting at ringside and looks pretty emotional but is holding it in.
Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte w/ Ric Flair
And I’m Like… For real I don’t know what is gonna happen. Sasha beat Charlotte and Charlotte beat Becky. That should mean Becky gets the duke on Sunday, but that doesn’t feel right. I think Bex is the odd one out in this scenario, unless the feud is triple threat for a few months. The match tonight only added uncertainty to next week, and having Sasha not talk made her thought process more interesting.
Renee Young interviews Vince McMahon
Renee asks if McMahon was surprised by Undertaker and Shane. Vince says Shane will do anything to win this match. Vince says Shane doesn’t want Undertakers yard, he wants the nation of the WWE Universe. Vince tells Shane to be halfway across the Brooklyn Bridge. Shane shows up and talks about how narcissistic Vince is. He says he will take 40 years of hostitlity. He will control Monday Night Raw. Shane said that Vince stole the company from Vince J. and Sunday Shane is taking it from Vince.
And I’m Like… Shane should have said earn it. Taking and stealing is the same thing.
The Social Outcasts are on the apron and Curtis tells his dad Mr. Perfect, happy birthday. That’s because Axel is melting hearts.
K
ane and Big Show vs. Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas
And I’m Like… We had the Swiss Superman win and the World’s Largest Athlete win. I am not sure who is even in the match, I will say it’s an NXT guy or Mark Henry. Because Mark has always been a Battle Royal threat and never has won one.
And I’m Like… Triple H has to win. That will make more people cheer Roman I believe or vindicate Roman for his heel turn. Part of me is thinking HHH is champion until Seth wins it at Summerslam… I don’t know, they must have a plan for after Mania and HHH’s Twitter says he is training hard for more than one day. That segment didn’t make me care about the match either way. I feel like this is a turning point for something, I just don’t know what. Having Shane run Raw and HHH be champion seems like too good of a storyline to pass up
Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio
And I’m Like… The best thing about New Day at Mania will be their entrance. They deserve to get better treatment or a better match. They are working with former world champions and stuff but I don’t know. It seems like a lay up win for New Day and if they lose it will make the Internet mad… New Day needs unicorns for their Mania moment.
Jonathon Coachman show up and gets a nice pop. Coach announces that New Day is his favorite to interview and that Sportscenter will have live coverage of WrestleMania.
That is a pretty big achievement, good for WWE. One step closer to building that home on the hill of mainstream.
Also Warrior Award goes to Joan Lunden who beat cancer.
Renee Young interviews Roman Reigns but Bubba Dudley calls out Roman to finish what they started on Smackdown. D-Von shows up and keeps egging Roman on. Reigns lands some punches and then HHH jumps him from behind. D-Von does a beautiful line from Rocky “you ain’t so bad, you aint so bad”
Triple H holds the belt up to Roman’s face like Shawn Michaels did to Stone Cold before Mania 14. Ugh that makes me think Roman is winning.
And I’m Like… Ryback is Del Rio to me. They are like Einhorn and Finkle except it’s not a man and a woman, it’s an American and a Mexican. They are competent wrestlers, but they ooze mediocrity sometimes.
And I’m Like… That segment was beautiful… It shows how Brock is same ol’ same ol’. It shows how Ambrose is planning on sending a message at Mania about Hardcore. Ambrose doing that will get a reaction from the crowd when he comes out with his wagon on Sunday. We will remember the weapons in there and start getting excited for what is to come. I am not sure who will win this. I think Ambrose is gonna lose after a very very hard fought battle, that’s the only thing I can think of that makes sense to me.
Paige w/ Team Total Diva vs. Emma w/ Team B.A.D. and Blonde
And I’m Like… Poor girls, if this was a two month story with build it would have emotion and stuff. Eva did a heroes return when she was never a hero… This match won’t be the best.. maybe Snoop Dogg can come out like during the Diva Battle Royal of years past. Who knows.
Goldust is in the back singing Joy and Pain by Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock.
R-Truth calls him Goldizzle. Truth tells him he can’t have Goldust’s back in the Andre Battle Royal. Truth asked to do the thinking for Goldust. Truth and Goldust broke up and Truth blew his nose in Goldust’s shirt. He said “you think it’s funny, but it’s snot” and yeah…
Snoop Dogg is the new Hall of Famer… So yeah that Total Diva’s match? He will totally be there.
That is a weird Hall of Fame class.
Dolph Ziggler, Sami Zayn and Sin Cara vs. Kevin Owens, The Miz and Stardust
And I’m Like… That was a match that the crowd wasn’t into and had a story but was only about Kevin Owens. To have Zayn and Owens face off and have a finish kind of confused me. You can build these multi-man matches without having them touch but they did. When they go one-on-one it will get hype.. but still. Owens will win, to prove he is a champion worth beating.
And I’m Like… So HHH is gonna use the sledgehammer after a ref bump and Roman is kicking out, or HHH gets the pin, but I am certain the finish won’t happen until Sledgehammer is introduced. It’s weird to not see it in the feud yet. I am pretty excited for half the card. I don’t want to fantasy book too much because then I tend to get disappointed. Let’s see where the road takes us. I think WWE gave me some wood to build this house with. Let’s see how it looks after WrestleMania.
Thank you for the read, please share or tweet, or comment! I appreciate it!
Thanks again and have a good one.

Hey everyone, let’s get into some wrestling. I don’t really want to talk much about our new landlords or our apartments lack of hot water.
NXT Opening
We see a video that highlights the skills of our main event competitors, Neville and Finn Balor.
The Vaudevillains vs. Hugo Knox and Tucker Knight
The Villains come out dressed like some dog snatchers of the 20’s. Their music is jolly though, who knows if they are good or bad. They might just show a mean streak because that’s what they believe they need to get back on top of NXT Tag Team mountain.
I recognize Hugo and Tucker from Breaking Ground as Nia Jax’s friends. Hugo is rocking some purple polkadotted trunks. Aiden shows a little aggression while yelling at Hugo saying “This is how a real man does it boy!”.
The double team moves of the Villains are different than before, heavy on attacks now. There is smack talk and roughneckedness. I just don’t see how the Villains can get boo’d.
Tucker received the hot tag from Hugo, only I didn’t realize it was a hot tag. I was watching this as a squash match and wasn’t realizing they were telling a story. Even Corey Graves was singing the praises of the Vaudevillains. Hugo was the face in peril and Tucker was hitting shoulderblocks and stuff but he got put away quick to the Whirling Dervish.
And I’m Like… Tom Phillps spoke a lot about the Hype Bros. during this match so I am thinking the Villains are getting built up as competition for the Hype Bros. I know The Revival and Enzo and Cass are feuding so a second feud in the tag division is welcomed. The Villains haven’t spoke much, so I am not sure of their motivations to become as aggressive as they are. It is a welcomed change though.
Dana Brooke and Emma Interview
Dana says Deonna is a nobody because she lost to Asuka and doesn’t look like Emma or Dana. Emma says she is gonna impress in her match tonight and Dana pats dude on head.
Finn Balor video package
We see a Finn video set to his theme music. This video makes him look like a complete star. It shows that he is different, he is championship material, and one of the most unbeatable guys in NXT. They show fans dressed as Finn, they show all the arms going in the air to Finn’s entrance. The video ends with Byron saying “Finn’s future will continue as the face of NXT”
And I’m Like… Two quick segments to put over the characters. We know Emma and Dana are full of themselves and even though they lost to Asuka, their confidence never waivers. Finn being the end-all-be-all of NXT has never been more apparent.
Tom takes us back to last week were The Revival attacked Enzo in the parking lot. Cass ended up making the save and now we are getting reactions to the parking lot brawl.
Cass calls The Revival gutless and says they will be NXT Tag Champions.. Enzo just stirs in the back like a mini Staten Island Brock Lesnar.
They say that twice now Enzo and Cass have jumped them from behind. Dawson says “catchphrase kings” which I think is a great name, not even derogatory. They say the closest Enzo and Cass come to the belts is spit shining them.
And I’m Like… Gotta love the well built feuds. Also gotta love that this match will be had at the Roadblock special event headlined by HHH and Dean Ambrose for the WWE Title. That is so cool that these one off shows like Beast in the East and Roadblock features NXT people.
Emma w/ Dana Brooke vs. Santana Garrett
Who is this Santana? She gets a full entrance and is all smiles. Corey says we have seen her before and now I feel bad for not remembering anything she was in. Emma was saying she will impress and Santana got an entrance plus a pretty good crowd chant. That makes me think we might get a surprise victory.
Due to crowd reaction I sense that Santana was well known before her time in NXT. Emma does not care though because she is taking it to Garrett and continually ramming her head into the turnbuckle.
Emma is in control with kicks to the knee and a butterfly suplex. Then Emma does her face point taunt and Dana also points to Emma’s face while screaming “We Run NXT”.
“Santana” chants from the crowd. It doesn’t help much though because Emma is still doing what she wants in the ring. Even if Santana gets a blow or two in Emma is quick to hit a huge strike to gain the advantage again.
There was a headbutt by Santana that got hair or something in Emma’s eye. She was rubbing her eye, having Dana look at it even. Emma quits playing around and starts in with a bow and arrow stretch with some knees to the back of Garrett.
Emma is a treasure in NXT. She can win or lose convincingly. She never won the title so she still has something to prove in the division. She also has enough star power where if someone is against her and beats her, it means something. She also does a pretty sweet tree of woe move with kicks to Santana’s back.
Emma does the Emmalock and instead of doing the Emma dance taunt she does the point to the face taunt.
And I’m Like… That match was fun, I don’t think Santana left much of an impression. I will try hard to remember who she is, but she seemed basic and bland in this match. Being able to put up a fight against Emma shows something though. I wonder what the story with Dana and Emma are, unless it’s setting up a Deonna build.
Nia Jax and Eva Marie are with William Regal. He says after watching their interview he agrees that they need to be treated like big stars. Regal arranges for the next tag match to be against Bayley and Asuka… Eva and Nia look pretty upset.
William Regal welcomes Austin Aries to NXT
The Greatest Man That Ever Lived is in NXT. He is from Minnesota so he has to be a favorite of mine because hometown teams.
The reaction for Aries was loud and he was yelling “THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!” Then…
Corbin attacks his indie ass because Baron hates being overshadowed and anyone that has performed on the indies, or Ring of Honor because Corbin thinks any indie is ROH.
After the End of Days on Austin Aries Corbin raises up Aries’ t-shirt and screams “an eye for an eye.” Throws the shirt at Regal.
And I’m Like… Beautiful!! See NXT set precedence with their previous indie guy signings and pomp and circumstance that goes with it. Corbin has openly hated indie guys and has developed his own feud against them. He also had a feud brewing with Regal because Baron thinks he deserves another shot at facing Finn Balor, Regal says no. Baron told Regal he will pay for that. Turns out Regal’s big welcoming party was pooped on. Dumbledore claps .
Steve Cutler vs. The Drifter Elias Samson
Tom starts off by saying that Steve Cutler should be thanked because he fought in Afghanistan for two tours and fought for America. Corey says Samson should thank Cutler for giving him the ability to drift.
Corey Graves is slowly becoming a Drifter fan. With all of his aggressive moves, but then when he gets into his character work Graves turns his hate on full blast. Like when The Drifter plays ‘air guitar’ to the crowd chanting “Nickleback”.
Samson hits some elbows and slides all around the ring, does a running knee to the face then hits the swinging neckbreaker.
And I’m Like… about time to give Samson a feud. He has shown his ability to wrestle his character. He can be comfortable in the ring. He might not have the best finisher, or even a good one, but he needs a feud. These squashes can’t go on for much longer or I fear I will lose interest in him completely. Maybe y’all dig him though.
Hype Bros. Promo
Hype Bros. are talking and Mojo said he is glad he lost because now there is a challenge and Mojo learned he can’t play around anymore. Zack Ryder says “there is no derailing the Hype train” Mojo is upset that the Vaudevillains don’t say anything to them. Then out of the background the Villains show up as Mojo and Ryder leave.
We get a promo video on Neville. It shows that he can’t be held down, he does flippy doos and is the pioneer of the yet to happen “altitude era”
And I’m Like … At first I was not a fan of the Hype Bros. but after Mojo on Breaking Ground shining light on some kid with good grades, and that recent promo. There is a certain bafoonish appeal to those guys. The Neville video was lackluster, but that’s because most of us know who he is.
It’s weird to see Neville back in NXT. He kind of seems like a different wrestler. He is the record holder for longest NXT Champion. Finn is on the way, but this is non-title so I think this is just gonna be a match to be a match.
Finn comes out and looks at his Balor Club video screen. It looks like the Bullet Club logo and Tom Phillips brings up Bullet Club during the entrance. Corey Graves says “he has friends around the world, no reason to dig into it” Well I am wearing my Banks Club shirt and wanna know if Nakamura will join that.
Graves says these two have faced each other in NXT before and have known each other for over a decade. It’s funny how Neville is always having matches against his friends and they are all smiles and respect. I mean Neville pulled some shady stuff against Sami Zayn last year but other than that.
We get a “this is awesome” from the crowd before they even lock up. Once locked up, Finn gains control of Nevilles arm and wrestles around for a bit. This match feels like it will be a longer one so it will start slow.
It’s weird that Finn has a headlock on Neville an the crowd really isn’t responding much. Clap at least.
Finn keeps going for a headlock so he can take the wind out of Neville and maybe counteract his speed a bit. Neville is able to reverse the headlock though and it looks like Balor’s plan has been derailed.
Neville is landing snap suplexes and many attacking strikes. He looks super strong and muscular, not only because he has muscles but because of how Finn sells the offense. Neville may be short but he is a brick house full of dynamite.
Neville gets LAUNCHED to the outside by Finn and… DAMN!
He missed the apron completely and got a huge reaction from the crowd and a “Holy Shit” chant. Neville then works his way around the ring and is able to do a moonsault onto Finn Balor on the outside to a resounding chant of “NXT”
After Finn kicks out at two, Neville puts a headlock back in. Neville must have taken a play out of Finn’s book. Finn fights out of the headlock to ZERO claps from a crowd full of wrestling fans. Boy, did they react to the Pele Kick.
Balor is throwing Neville from pillar to turnbuckle post and chasing him with knife edge chops. Finn then does a move to the outside and goes for a pin. Turns out a kick to the face doesn’t get the job done.
Neville found his momentum and hit his signature moves. Then he does two deadlift German suplexes and Balor was able to kick out at 2 and 7/8ths. Corey Graves asks “What can Neville do?” Well maybe try Red Arrow Cor.
Balor was able to reverse a Red Arrow and kick Neville to the outside. He followed that up with senton flip to the outside. Finn rolls Neville in and attempts a Coup de Gras but Neville reverses that.
Neville hits a top rope hurricanrana, then goes for Red Arrow. Balor moves, then surprises Neville with a slingblade. Now both men look desperate. Finn got sick of playing games and hit a shotgun dropkick then a Coup De Gras. After that Finn hit Bloody Sunday and got the duke. After the match is done Finn claps for Neville and the crowd follows suite and chants “Neville”. That seemed like a retirement match for Neville.
And I’m Like… That match was good. I believe these two wouldn’t be able to have a bad match. It never hit that emotional gear I was looking for, but the match was well put together and Finn Balor made it so he is the greatest NXT competitor in all of their short history. Each weeks is getting better and more exciting!
These two in a 2/3 falls match.. Samoa says it should be easy but he is next to ‘ungrateful’ Sami Zayn. Zayn says Joe’s run was predicated off of the work of others. Sami Zayn uses many syllables and big words. Joe says big words too. Joe says he is responsible for Sami still having a career because he saved Zayn from Owens. Joe says it’s ironic because next week he takes Zayn’s career away.
Thank you for the read, please like, share, or comment. You all have a good day and I will see you for oldschool!

Hey everyone!! It has been a while since I wrote about what’s going on in my life, that will be in italics. Normal font will be NXT!
It’s been a wild month. My daughter is almost three months old; she keeps home life busy. My wife is doing a fantastic job at home with her. Work on the other hand, it’s been interesting. I am almost done with the partnership deal, so there will be quite an adjustment. We hired back one of our waitresses and she is gelling well with the staff we have now. My dishwasher is a vet and a paranoid schizophrenic. He ran out of his psych pills last week so the past few days have been trying. We have crisis hotline cards all over the dish area, he tried calling last week. He got a voicemail and didn’t get a return call. Rumor is that the VA is understaffed and they outsource some of their other calls to different companies. I guess theses companies, if they don’t get to the call, don’t let the VA know of a voicemail. Needless to say there were some tense moments, we ended up getting him an emergency appointment, he is back on his pills and has to see a doctor once a week. It’s a sad state of affairs when you have a Veteran Crisis Hotline that won’t help Veterans in a crisis. Good luck to anyone out there that dealt with these issues.
Also, I am physically weak af. I started working out so I am able to hold my daughter for longer…
NXT OPENS!
The show starts with the intro song and then we go right to CFE arena for the show.
On the WWE App it showed Dash and Dawson now dubbed The Revival beating up Enzo outside of the performance center
American Alpha vs. Blake and Murphy
Gable seems to start every match off. Murphy and Gable collar and elbow but within seconds Gable has control and tags Jason Jordan in. Either Murphy is yelling extremely loud when he is taking offense or the crowd is dead.
Graves says Gable is so talented that he is known to dribble a bowling ball.. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!
It would be nice to have Biff Busick be in a tag team so we can have that moment where he outwrestles Gable.
Gable is so good that both Blake and Murphy back away from the man. The fans try to chant for Gable and Jordan in a sing song manner, Jordan waves at the crowd to keep it going… They don’t.
I have never been to a taping that lasts hours over multiple shows. I don’t know how the energy level is during those shows, if there are peaks and valleys or if it peaks at the beginning and then whimpers down. This crowd has seen many of the wrestlers and I believe are running out of steam. Crowd reaction does a lot to a match.
Jordan is doing well at playing to the crowd. When there is a “let’s go Jordan” he shurgs his shoulders to the claps. That gives off the body language to keep clapping and at the same time makes Jordan seem confident and relaxed.
Gable and Jordan tag, then do a double northern lights suplex. The Gable goes right to the arm. As Gable is working over Blake’s arm Tom Phillips says “American Alpha can be just as physical as Dawson and Dash”.
Blake and Murphy sell Gables offense so hard. The screams of pain they do as Gable applies his submissions and wear down holds, make those holds seem that much more impactful. Simple moves you see in every match seem like they hurt more when Gable applies them.
LOL Murphy gets frustrated that Gable keeps kicking out and it’s after a headlock… Who wins by headlock?
As Gable gets beat up more and more, Jordan subtlety moves on the apron. He starts looking more restless, his face gets more expressive, he starts hopping and reaching his hand toward Gable. Chad is no where near the corner but it builds anticipation for the viewer for the hot tag. They get so close and the tag doesn’t happen.
Then Gable fights out of it and tags Jordan to a pop. Jordan does over head suplexes and throws with no regard. HE does the shoulder tackle in the corner to Blake and then flapjacks Murphy. Jordan tags Gable in and the hit their finish for the win.
And I’m Like… That was a perfectly acceptable match. American Alpha continue to be entertaining and Blake and Murphy are good set pieces for stories. This time we are learning that American Alpha are a fluid team that are near unstoppable. Gable can handle his own bidness, so can Jordan. Blake and Murphy never had characters and they certainly don’t now, they can win or lose and it doesn’t really effect anything. They are there to showcase other teams, I think that could be why they were tag champs. So when your building contenders, Blake and Murphy are the team to choose because they are former champs so beating them adds credibility.
We get highlights of last week when Zayn and Joe pinned each other. Which cuts to a backstage promo by William Regal.
Regal says in two weeks we have a 2 out of 3 falls match with Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe. Regal also says a new competitor will be debuting next week.
The Drifter Sings
Here are the Lyrics
“For everything created/ Destruction’s on call
Trials and Tribulations/ Nature has its fall
A new ring of one/ blossoms the soul
Where it may roam only the chosen shall know
What we have are masqueraders/ what we need are liberators
Substance in man/ what it needs is what I am
What it needs is what I am
-The Drifter
Apollo Crews vs. Christopher Girard
HA! Speak of the devil. Biff’s name now is Christopher Girard. I don’t know how I feel about that, only because fan chanting. Chris-to-pher might work but Girard is a weird one. I like the names that have 3 to 4 syllables. Apollo Crews, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar… See what I mean? Like Curtis Axel came from Michael McGillyCutty, and how the hell you gon’ chant that name? That’s just some nit-picking.
Girard looks intense, he has that sweet generic rock music too. That’s what Daniel Bryan started with.
The match starts with some attempt at a collar and elbow, Apollo fell right away though. Christopher yells at Apollo to “come on” in the darkest villain voice. Just raspy and angry.
Apollo hits the too easy dropkick and Girard feels for his mouth instantly. Cool little sequence where Girard blocks Apollo’s suplex attempt, once by holding his own weight down by taking a knee, the second time by a slap to the stomach of Apollo. TChen Christopher does a grimace and grunt to the camera and hits a European uppercut.
Corey Graves says Girard reminds him of Gilberg….. F You Graves… f you..
Christopher does a thing that I LOVE!! He has a headlock in Apollo and he applies it like he wants it to hurt!! Girard rubs his head ontop of Apollos, he wrenches back and forth, hell he even flips Apollo backwards while still locking the head to bring Crews to the ground. Crews knows that Apollo has high impact moves that take a lot of energy, if Girard can ground Crews he can take many moves away from Apollo.
Graves talks about how “awesome” Christopher is now after these awesome headlocks and chinlocks. Crews fights out of it by standing up and dropping Girard on his back. Then Apollo hits a spear and some punches, as Girard attempts escape Apollo does not give him room to breathe at all.
Crews hits some signatures and taunts the crowd which was long enough for Girard to gain energy and fight back. Crews picks Girard up from the apron and hits his Toss Powerbomb finisher, all while Girard was throwing punches and trying to get out of the hold. Apollo wins and looks like he was in quite a fight.
And I’m Like… That was a showcase for Apollo but Girard got some of his shit in and hopefully left a Gillbergless impression on fans. A Tomasso Ciampa/ Christopher Girard match or team would be a tremendous thing.
We now see video of Bayley beating Carmella a few weeks ago. Then where Eva and Nia attack Carmella so Bayley made the save. Then the bad ladies beat on Bayley until Asuka came in for the save. Asuka, once the ring was clear of the heels, motioned to the championship and smiled at Bayley. That match will be emotional, can Bayley handle that big of an ass kicking? Hopefully we will see at Takeover: Dallas.
Bayley and Carmella are interviewed and Bayley says she was taken to her limit against Carmella and one day Carmella will be a great champion. Carmella told Bayley she is coming for the belt sooner rather than later.
Bayley was glad that Asuka was out to help her but feels the pressure. I would love to see and reverse Rocky IV with Carmella getting beat so bad by Asuka in a number one contender match because Asuka is a machine and Carmella needs to prove her self. Then Bayley will have a reason to be vicious. That would be accented even more if Bayley lost because of not interfering on Carmella’s behalf or if she did interfere, Carmella could be upset that Bayley doesn’t believe she is in the same league. This woman’s division has so many layers to it that so much is possible.
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Bull Dempsey
This is a sad one, since we know Bull already left the company. This is probably his last match in NXT.
Corey Graves doesn’t believe in moral victories but he says Tommaso impresses every time he steps in the ring. Bull comes out slapping all the fans hands. He does some work out moves and looks so happy to be out there.
Bill does a comedy spot that I saw Brad Maddox do once. The shirt he wears is too small so he needs the ref to help him take the shirt off. Bull and the ref struggle to remove the shirt as the crowd chants “Buuuuull” and when the shirt is removed the crowd pops and Bull congratulates himself.
Bull goes for a test of strength and makes Ciampa do jumping jacks.. Ciampa laughs but it was just to get Bulls guard down. Tommaso throws some heavy hands at Bull who knocks Ciampa on his ass. Because before Bull was Bullfit he was the “last of a dying breed” and could fight.
Ciampa fights by the “hit me hard and I’ll hit you harder”. He attacks Bull with blow after blow and starts working over Bull’s left arm. Bull does his punches where the crowd chants Bull, Dempsey goes for a left handed punch but Tommaso is able to reverse it and apply his armbar for the victory.
And I’m Like… Yeah, Ciampa and Girard on a team or feud please.. Even though Tommaso won, this is about Bull. His career was rather short in NXT. I am sure the door is always open for a return down the road. I liked the Bullfit gimmick at first, then the Bullfit puns and stuff was funny too. I feel like he should have done some Simon Dean/Dashin Cody Rhodes deals and done vignettes on his work outs. Maybe even, instead of selling a shirt on wweshop, he could sell legit workout tapes. He presented himself as a very lovable character, best to him in the future!
Samoa Joe gets interviewed and its a Aaron Sorkin esque walk and talk. Joe says he is the reason NXT is hot, he thinks he made it hot. He feels bad for Sami for having to suffer twice as much because it’s a two out of three falls match.
There is a commercial for WrestleMania, they use another Flo-Rida song. I feel like this song would be a good one if they are going for that type of style.
Sami Zayn gets interviewed. He says he is ready and that is not the issue. He knows what it takes to win a 2 out of 3 falls match. He has tunnel vision to become champion.
B aymella vs. Nia Jax and Eva Marie
Nia and Eva are a team but come out separately. Corey Graves makes me want to mute the dang show because of how he vomits excitement over Eva Marie and won’t let Tom Phillips talk…. it’s stupid. I don’t see how that can help at all, he is putting over that she is hot? That doesn’t help the wrestling show… I like the soul claps in her crappy song though!
Carmella and Bayley come out separately also. I guess only Dana and Emma come out as a team. Corey also brings up her looks, he is not Jesse for our generation, he is Jerry Lawler with a douche of Matt Striker.
Bayley comes out and is about to air five the crowd. She hesitates at first to make sure Eva and Nia won’t attack her. It’s the little things!!
Carmella doing Thesz presses and punches, she does it three times in a row. Ballsy move by NXT to have Eva and Carmella start the match. Ring General Bayley gets in there and beats up Eva enough that she has to take Nia in.
Nia dominates quickly and tags Eva back in. Nia stand on Bayleys calf to control her. Eva taunts. The gameplan for Nia and Eva confuses me. Eva gets dominated by Bayley and Carmella. Neither girl can get a move in on Nia though. Why would Nia and Eva decide that the best option for the fight is to have Eva be in there at any time?
Bayley and Carmella do some double teaming and double moonwalking.
Eva is screaming for Nia and she finally is able to get rid of Carmella and tag Jax in. The story continues where no one can do much to Jax. Nia is walking around slowly and wrestling like the giant she is. She is dumb like a giant too and tags Eva in.
Eva goes for ONE move but taunts so Carmella rolls her up for two. Eva tags out after that and Jax is back on the attack to Carmella’s back. She is bearhugging the Staten Island attitude out of Carmella. Carmella remembers London and front facelocks Nia. Jax tags out and that starts a quick tag session between Eva and Nia. Having Bayley on the apron waiting for the hot tag is detrimental to the match. These girls got some work to do on their own if Bayley isn’t there to bail them out.
The crowd chants “Hey we want some Bayley” which is the inferior chant once “Hey Bayley, ooh ahh, I waannt for you to be my girl”
Bayley gets the hot tag and hits her 5 moves of doom. She only is interrupted at the pin attempt by Nia. Jax headbutts the crap out of Bayley. Bayley tags Carmella who tries to submit Eva but Nia breaks it up. Jax then realizes she is the Cass to Eva’s Enzo and has to win the match on her lonesome. She Carmella is dazed, Jax runs at Bayley and does the Vader running chest/clothesline/clap thing. Then she grabs Eva by the leg, drags her to the corner, tags in. Nia is the only one not on the ground and she is moving these ladies around like she is playing action figures.
Nia then hits three consecutive leg drops and Eva tags her self in and grabs the pin. Nia let her do it too, she didn’t even care.
And I’m Like… This needs explanation. Why is Nia with Eva? It can’t have anything to do with wrestling because as Nia just showed she doesn’t need any help. Maybe its for more exposure, maybe she wants to be on Total Divas, maybe she sees how crap Eva is but is still getting opportunities. There are many questions I have for that pairing. Bayley and Carmella were not a good team tonight, that is because they weren’t focused on their opponents. They cared more about entertaining the crowd and having fun, and in the end it cost them because Nia is all bidness.
That was a fun episode, it ended with William Regal telling Finn he is almost the record holder for longest time being NXT Champion. He will face the current record holder Neville next week.
The build is slow but we are almost a month away from the next Takeover. That gives us four or five episodes until the show, we have plenty of time to get emotionally invested.
Do me a favor and share or like or comment. It let’s me know how many people are being reached and if you still have time after reading this, a click and post would be greatly appreciated.
Until next week, have a good one!

Hello everyone! Welcome! Today was a weird day. My dishwasher brought a homeless guy in, and the guy started sticking out his tongue and yelling at people. Also, we have had a guy walk out on his tab, I thought he was in today, turns out it was my cousin’s friend. I found this out because he called and wanted to know why we told my cousin he skips out on bills! Oh well, everyday is an adventure, onto NXT.
NXT Opening
The show starts with a video package on Sami and Joe and their feud leading up to this number one contender match.
Enzo and Cass and American Alpha vs. Blake and Murphy and Dash and Dawson
Enzo looks more and more like Mr. T every week. He now has the chains and a semi mohawk. He needs to do some 1-800-Collect commercials!
Enzo does his normal routine and is more hype than usual. Cass doesn’t have anything to say other then his S-A-W-F-T phrase. They are more intense and it’s nice to see because that’s where their gimmick is headed.
American Alpha gots some sweet 90’s style singlets on. I think that is a good choice as it separates Gable and Jordan from the Worlds Greatest Tag Team comparisons. This match has been building for a week and it looks like it will be lots of fun.
The match starts with Dawson and Gable. It is a beautiful way to start a match too. We got a collar and elbow that ends in a stalemate. Gable tries to take down Dawson with some wrestling but Dawson is able to wiggle away just enough to get to the ropes. It shows that they are kind of equals at the grappling game.
The match breaks down pretty quickly and all eight men start throwing punches. The chaos is settled down when the good guys simultaneously throw the bad guys over the top rope.
The show cuts to commercial and when we return Blake had a headlock on Gable. Dawson is tagged back in and the match starts to slow down with the bad guys really taking it to Chad.
I am starting to watch wrestling on mute. Partly because my daughter is sleeping at the time I am able to watch and partly because I realized I enjoy the in ring action more without the commentators.
The heels give off mannerisms that they are having fun doling out pain. Gable has been cut off from his partners for a good portion of the match but continues to fight and fight. Dash was worried that Gable was gonna make a tag so he went to punch the good guys. Cass was able to counter Dash’s punch with a punch of his own sending Dash into Gable. That led to a hot tag and Jordan lit the place up.
Jordan and Cass got all their big moves in and it looked like the end of the match when Jason Jordan and Chad Gable hit their finish on Dawson because Dash and company were taken out on the outside. Dash was able to save the pin, but not for long because Cass and Enzo hit the assisted splash for the win.
And I’m Like… in the grand scheme of things, I don’t know what this match accomplished. It was fun though. American Alpha’s new gear is unique but seems to fit them pretty well. Everyone played their parts, and it was nice not seeing Enzo get beat for most of the match.
Deonna Purrazzo is interviewed about her upcoming match with Asuka. She doesn’t talk well… She sounds like she is reading cue cards. Then Dana Brooke and Emma show up to show her how to talk and act in backstage segments.
Dana and Emma say “even Michael Jordan had an off day” in response to losing to Asuka. They remind Deonna they run NXT and Purrazzo won’t be able to beat Asuka because Emma and Dana couldn’t.
The entrances between these two are vastly different. Deonna has basic music and shows very little character or charisma when she comes out. Then Asuka comes out to the most bad ass song, with her flowing robe and creepy mask. One girl is a complete wrestling character, the other has a long ways to go.
Asuka doesn’t mess around and starts laying kicks into Deonna. She hits about six of them before Purrazzo fights back. Asuka runs at Purrazzo and hits a kneebar that Deonna almost didn’t escape from.
The girls start hammering each other and Asuka acts like she feeds off getting hit. She smiles and asks for more and looks to be enjoying it just enough to be scary. Deonna tries her best to overcome Asuka’s onslaught. She even tries a top rope attack but Asuka just kicks Purrazzo in the stomach for her efforts.
Asuka is putting more submissions and deliberate strikes in her offense. After a few failed submission attempts Asuka hits Deonna with multiple spinning backfists and a spinning heel kick for the three count. After the pin Asuka looks to the camera and doesn’t give her trademark smile but more of a menacing glare.
And I’m Like… Asuka adds more and more to her matches the month and she never fails to impress. She should be the next champion. I don’t know where her story would go after that, hopefully the creative in NXT have long term plans for her because she is special. They even show what happened last week with Asuka saving Bayley and Carmella only to give a smile and caress to the NXT Woman’s title.
Eva Marie and Nia Jax said they were justified in making a statement last week. Nia says if she was in the battle royal she would have won and be the top contender. Nia and Eva say Asuka better stay out of their business or she will wind up broken. It’s nice to see small cliques and teams in the Woman’s division. There is so much going on and a good amount of depth in this division!
Perfect 10 Tye Dillinger vs. Alex Riley
Tye’s entrance is great, it is one of those that is fun to watch, but if you did it in real life you would be super embarrassed. Speaking of super embarrassed, Alex Riley…
Riley is selling his anger really hard. I think that is his gimmick, that he is angry for being overlooked. Riley looks at the crowd as they chant “10”
We transition from a collar and elbow to a wristlock. Alex Riley got schooled and out wrestling by Tye. After a hip toss Alex gets 10 fingers in his face and looks to be upset by the taunting.
Riley looks like he would be vicious and acts like it, but doesn’t wrestle like it. Tye is able to fight out of everything Riley throws at him, that is until a huge elbow catches Dillinger in the face. He acts all wobbley, Riley goes for a move but Tye reverses it into a pin for the win.
And I’m Like… Crowd loves Dillinger, I just can’t get into him yet. I know he is talented but the character doesn’t strike any of my chords. Riley was seething in the ring after the match. Let’s give Riley a backstage attack on Tye, let them have a nice little feud for a bit. I am still amazed Riley is there. HHH must see something in him to keep him around this long.
Finn starts his interview with a tip of the hat to Apollo Crews for an amazing match. Balor can’t make a prediction on who will win but he says he is ready to defend his belt no matter the challenger.
Corbin talks to Regal about being number one Contender. Regal says no, Baron says he is a guy that believes in eye of an eye.
Number One Contender for NXT Championship
Joe comes out first, looking mean, real mean. Joe’s wrinkles in his head always make me think he has a tattoo on his head. Nope just wrinkles.
As Sami comes out and gets the crowd hype, I have a tendency to wince when he throws his arms up.. Don’t injure yourself again!! As Sami embraces the crowd, Joe stands in the corner glaring at Zayn.
Both men are timid on the lock up. Right as Sami’s fingers touch Joe’s, Joe throws a kick that does not land. Eventually the guys go from collar and elbow to wristlock. Joe starts working over Sami’s injured shoulder, which puts Zayn at an early disadvantage.
The match starts off very slow and old school. Between one or two moves is a headlock, wrist lock, reverse chin lock. The pace quickens a bit when Sami threatens to jump on a prone Joe on the outside. Then we head straight to commercial.
We come back from commercial, the guys are still in the feel out process. Joe rocks Sami with some strikes and kicks. Sami is able to get an arm drag in but his speed is not enough to overcome Joe’s power and after a slam in the corner, Joe is in charge of the match.
Nothing Sami Zayn can do better than get his ass whopped and look like he is on the brink of collapsing. Sami has a little Dean Ambrose in him, in the sense that he won’t stop fighting no matter the opponent. Zayn, even though he loses every battle, tries and have a striking contest with Joe.
Joe is having none of back and forth striking so he puts Sami down with a multitude of attacks. Sami is able to fight back with clothes lines and his inner fighting spirit. Zayn goes for a blue thunder bomb but it appears Joe is too heavy or really good at finding a way to block the move. Zayn finally hits it but that only garners a two.
Joe is starting to hit his signature moves, Sami is still kicking out. Joe is getting visibly frustrated and starts staring at Sami and hitting the man with strike after strike after strike.
Sami was sick of getting punched so he went for a flash pin. Joe kicked out then hit Sami with a powerslam for a CLOSE three count. There was a lot of back and forth with counters and signature spots and finisher set ups.
Joe had the coquina clutch on Sami, Sami walked into a corner and the ref forced Joe to let it go though. Samoa Joe sets up for the musclebuster. Sami fights out of it and hits the Yakuza kick. He pins Joe but both Zayn’s shoulders were on the mat…
The referee looks confused and upset. He goes to talk to Tom Phillips I believe. The point is Sami was pinning Joe and Joe was pinning Sami, both men have legitimate claims at being the top contender.
Regal comes out and talks to the ref. Ref says it is a draw and the show ends in confusion. Sami is getting frustrated with all these outcomes.
And I’m Like… NXT knows how to drag out an angle don’t they? I’m not throwing shade, I am just saying this Number One contender business has been going on for a while now. So I guess we will find out more next week. That was a fun match and told a good story of Sami’s never say die attitude and Joe’s I don’t give a fuck attitude. I am excited to see where it goes.
Well it is late and the article was late. Please like and share if you could. It helps me out a bunch! Tomorrow is tax day for me, so I am not looking forward going through receipts all day. You all have a good one.

I am just helping the wife but the daughter to bed. Let’s get to it before some cries take me away from the laptop.
NXT Opening-
We go from intro theme to
American Alpha vs. Blake and Murphy
This was a match that was hyped last week. Corey Graves was talking about how deep this tag division is, deeper than it has ever been in NXT.
Jordan got one of his legs caught after a kick attempt, every time Murphy tried to sweep him he jumped with the greatest of agility. Jordan tags Gable in and Gable surgically takes down Murphy and Blake with wrestling moves.
Blake was showing some of his athleticism but it had no chance up against Gable’s athleticism and countering ability. Gable should call out Ricky Steamboat and they can have an arm-drag off (arm-drag race).
Murphy went on a leapfrog and seems to have seriously hurt his knee. He motions to Blake as the crowd is quiet in worry. Blake runs in and Murphy ‘miraculously’ gets better and chop block Chad’s leg. “Save The Gable” chant.
I still don’t know what Blake and Murphy are about other than the dubstep version of a wrestling tag team. Then again I don’t know what dubstep is about so maybe that is it.
Jordan was waiting for a while but was able to get the hot tag. He suplexes everything in sight, even belly-to-bellies Blake on top of Murphy. They follow that up with their finisher that is not named.
And I’m Like… Those are the third former NXT Tag Team champions American Alpha has beaten. They are so getting the titles at Takeover, no way a team gets built this much just to lose to Dash and Dawson. I am afraid the team I’ve dubbed Carolina Wrecking Crew are the Stan Stasiak of the NXT tag division. The problem for me is that the main roster tag division is weak once again so I would like American Alpha to not peak just yet by winning the belts. The sooner they are called up the sooner we won’t hear the creative chants and applause for Gable, Jordan, and how they can wrestle.
Emma and Dana Brooke are interviewed about Carmella and Asuka. Dana Brook says Alex the Interviewer isn’t important. Dana says that last week was all about Bayley, Carmella can not do a thing. Emma says Carmella doesn’t have the skills to beat Bayley. Emma says Blue Pants doesn’t even work here and beat Carmella. Dana ends the promo with “bada bing unluckiest girl in the ring” signature head pat and we are done.
We start off by seeing Asuka smiling after getting slapped. She taps out Dana Brooke and then we see her kick all the ass NXT had to offer.
Ok, seeing that Liv Morgan had no entrance this is a showcase. One problem I have is Nia’s entrance. The lyrics are “I’m not like most girls” outside of her weight, based on Breaking Ground. Nia is like most girls, she is girly, she gets nervous for her debut, she wants to be the best, she knows how to do make-up, and is in love with her mom.
Corey Graves also is just…. he doesn’t want to talk and just wants to “enjoy” the girls in the ring… stop it. I might not be like most guys but I don’t see how talking about how attractive these girls are helps at all. Like tonight in the main event if someone says “Damn look at Baron Corbin, I love his leather pants and how he is fitting in them” does that help the story or the match at all?
This match was definitely a showcase. Nia had her way with Liv. It would be like me wrestling my two month daughter. Sometimes when I hold her and she is fussy, she bangs her head into my chest, I just reposition her and she really can’t do anything about it. Liv tries to fight but there is really nothing she can do.
And I’m Like… That match existed, it furthers the belief that Nia is unstoppable to most of the woman’s division in NXT, except for the champ Bayley. Eva is still her manager too, which would be a cool change if Eva never wrestled again and just managed.
Carmella cuts a promo on Emma and who she calls “Little Miss Piggy” Dana Brooke. She says she can handle it all by her self. She kept her eastern accent but she was ALL BIDNESS. Cass then took over and brought up Dash and Dawson. Cass says “all fluff and no stuff? Well, it appears to me that you’ve been stuffing your faces because of all that fluff you have behind those belts.” Enzo said he was on edge since London, he didn’t have a Merry Christmas because he didn’t come home with titles. “ya get tuned up, and I’m putting the Midas touch on it. We don’t give a damn about you, we don’t give a damn about anything you got to say. You are looking at stars, finish your cup of average Joe and move the hell on.”
Baron Corbin vignette about him hating people from the Indies and being dominate.
Vaudevillians get one more of those “we are turning heel” videos.
HOLY SHIT! Alex Riley is still a thing? I remember one time I cheered for him, he just turned on the Miz and had this dope ass entrance song. What is crazy is he has been around for a while and is still like a jobber of NXT. Corey Graves says Alex Riley and Tom Phillips follow themselves on Tinder.
Phillps bring up that Riley is still a wrestler and not a commentator because of his feud with Kevin Owens where he gave up his commentating position. The crowd is pretty much dead… No chants or cheers, I think we all feel the same.. What?!? Alex Riley?!? What is he about?
Alex is dominating though, speaking of are people still a thing. Marcus Louis? Corey Graves says Riley looks a little crazy. Riley wins with a spinebuster and flying knee. Doesn’t garner much of a reaction other than some woo’s and claps..
And I’m Like… Tom Phillips says that is not the Alex Riley that he remembers. If it’s the “I’m going crazy gimmick” I’ve seen enough of that in PPW . This is kind of and interesting angle to take though. I’m not sure where it can go but I’m sure NXT won’t let us down… Will they?
Elias Sampson is the Drifter and we just see him playing guitar before he wrestles… If his gimmick is meaningless guy that you see staring into candles and lamps at coffeehouses, he is FUCKIN NAILING IT. There is no substance to those people other than “I have a guitar so I am deep and different”, so there should be no substance to him right? It’s hard for that kind of character to garner a reaction but that is why he is The Drifter and not that Folk Singing Superstar.
Alex Riley isn’t talking to anyone we know. He starts with “what? You surprised to see me? For the last four months I’ve been making calls, writing e-mails, sending texts all the way to Stamford. Letting them know how I have been feeling when, when I will be back. You know how many responses I got? Zero. I have had a lot of time on my hands, I have watched a lot of WWE Network and NXT. You know what I see every week and three weeks leading up to it. Sami Zayns return THE EXACT DAY. I know what Apollo Crews had for breakfast three days ago. I don’t see Alex Riley anywhere? I guess that is what hard work and 8 years in this business gets you. So to answer my question, you are surprised.”
Tom Phillips says “Riley is back whether you like him or not.”
And I’m Like… I was surprised that I was into that. Him being in a dark room resembles his mood, it feels cheesy but Alex Riley feels cheesy all the time. He never really had a character other than “himself Alex Riley”. Maybe “disgruntled employee” will be a thing… Maybe they can Eva Marie him and saddle him up with Baron Corbin or something.
Elias Sampson vs. Local Talent
Elias knows how his theme song goes, as he sits on the top of the rope and takes his shirt off when the song turns up a notch. Graves doesn’t understand why we need Elias in NXT.
Elias is doing a kind of slow and menacing wrestling style that is nuanced with quick rapid strikes and attacks. Almost psychotic, Corey Graves says “he has a lot of deep seeded issues based on the aggression he’s showing.” Sampson does a Randy Orton type backwards slide into the turnbuckle where he channeled his inner Raven. Sampson hit a fast neck breaker for the win.
And I’m Like… This episode is reminding me of an episode of Mid-South wrestling. There is so much going on, so quickly, and the matches last mere minutes. I swear if there is a screwy finish in the end, NXT just tried to copy Mid-South for one hour.
Mojo asks Zack Ryder what is with the Vaudevillains. Mojo is fighting with Zack Ryder. Zack says Mojo can’t talk anymore. Mojo sends Zack Ryder Zubas cause chicks love them. He tells Ryder he watches him sleep and knows he sleeps in Zubas. Ryder doesn’t want Mojo to watch him sleep anymore. They are some weird dudes… or bro’s or whatever.
Samoa Joe had a hype video too… he says he is getting what is owed to him and everyone has been warned.
We see a two months ago video of Finn vs. Apollo that Corbin interfered on, one of the few non-finishes in NXT so the out side interference meant something. That is a hype video for the rematch next week. It will be non-title.
Number One Contenders Match
Hey… y’all check out Baron’s leather?!?
Before the match starts the NXT Universe is “ole’ing”. Corey points out there is no countout and no DQ. Tom wants to wonder who that helps the most. That is a good question. I would say Sami because he is the smallest dog in the fight. Sami went for a suicide dive on Corbin but Joe pulled Zayn’s leg and started working him over outside. Samoa Joe even rolls in the ring and out the ring to “break the count” even though the ref isn’t counting. It’s just muscle memory.
Joe takes Corbin out after he is done with Sami. Guess what Joe does? Rolls in and out of the ring lol.
It’s weird that this is a recording and Sami came out at the Rumble. Usually any accomplishment a person has the commentators talk about it, I would be sure that Sami would get lot’s of Royal Rumble talk if this was a live episode.
There are commercial breaks. I understand why they are there. NXT is the most or one of the most popular shows on the Network. Might as well put over your other shows when you can. At the same time, NXT is your bread and butter on this sandwich, and your cutting out the middle and expecting me to appreciate the rest of the sandwich. Bitch I want my sandwich whole, that’s when I get satisfied. These “road trip” commercials take me out of my element.
Sami tries for another dive to the outside but this time Corbin tries to stop him. Zayn throws Corbin over the top and then was able to land his plancha on both men. Sami chooses Baron as the guy to throw in. Corbin makes Sami wish he chose Joe when Baron hit Deep Six on Sami for two.
Samoa Joe beat up Baron and Sami and hit a senton on Sami who was on Corbin. Joe throws Sami into the turnbuckle and the way Zayn sells it has me falling in love. Just rams his head into the turnbuckle and Sami just crumbled. He has Bret Hart levels of selling.
Joe was sick of playing around went for a Muscle Buster on Zayn, Corbin was able to make the save after a back and forth struggle. Corbin throws Joe out and tries to superplex Sami, Zayn throws Baron off and is able to turn a small sequence into a Blue Thunder Bomb. This triple threat is like a mini-one on one match. Every guy has paired off with each other and done some moves. The third guy surprise attacks and then they trade places. It isn’t bad but it keeps the constant action up, and the pace slowed down .
Joe was taking it too Baron Corbin and Corbin was able to End his Days. Sami got up to break the pin attempt. Corbin knew he lost if it wasn’t for Sami so he freaks out and beats the alabaster off of Zayn. As Corbin is screaming Sami takes advantage and is able to Helluva kick Corbin. That would have been a three count but Joe tSincook Sami out of the ring. Sami retaliates by shoving Joe into the steps. Everyone is exhausted.
I know Sami is from Canada but his version of the Sharpshooter looks like it was taught to him by The Rock. Kevin Owens gots him on that move. Joe sees that and runs in and instead of breaking up the Sharpshooter, Joe applies the crossface. That makes it so both competitors had their back to the other, and Baron tapped out quick because it was a painful move. The referee hasn’t made a decision though.
The crowd wants these two to hug it out, but that ain’t gonna happen. Tom is asking who Baron tapped out to? It’s ok cause Regal is out to settle matters.
Regal says he can’t give an answer until he reviews the tape and makes a better decision. As Samoa Joe makes it up the ramp he says sorry to Sami Zayn.
And I’m Like… It was a wonky finish… it’s not a bad finish or a non-finish, it was just wonky. Since Finn is facing Crews next week, look for a Joe vs. Sami match next week or I the future I am guessing. I really thought Baron would advance and a Joe/Zayn feud would start because neither have happened yet from a long term feud stand point. Oh well, gotta wait til next week. This is one of those “building” shows, where everything is good, but It doesn’t have that emotional impact we will feel come Takeover.
Thanks for the read, I appreciate it. The daughter was crying a bit in the middle of the blog there, but the night ended fine.

It’s felt like forever since a new NXT was on that wasn’t a recap show. I didn’t realize until last week but I need NXT weekly. It fills an emotional void that I can’t get anywhere else. I feel like I work hard and am trying to achieve a goal. In NXT I feel like everyone on the show: from the announcers, to the wrestlers, to the crowd. Everyone wants this to succeed and are trying their hardest to make it happen. It’s a connection that I didn’t know I had, or even existed to wrestling. It’s kinda like how I feel when I watch Daniel Bryan.
NXT Opening
Corey Graves welcomes us and says “If you think 2015 was big, you’ve seen nothing yet” We find out we are getting NXT year end awards. I tried voting a week ago on the WWE App and they kept saying it wasn’t connecting or that my vote didn’t work… That was disappointing.
William Regal comes out, looking a little skinnier than normal. He is greeted with “Welcome Back” He looks happy as hell too. Regal says NXT is the fastest growing promotion in the history of the industry. Is that true??!?! Crazy!
Regal says tonight’s main event is a woman’s battle royal for the NXT Woman’s championship. Regal then announces SAMI ZAYN!!!
“Ole” fills the arena and Sami let’s that bitch breathe . Sami asked us to allow him to reintroduce himself . He says he is the lead singer of a band, it sounds like his band came out to play tonight. “Ole” is sung by the crowd and Sami says “that’s our number one single”. Sami says he is one of the men responsible for building NXT. Sami says there is no place like home.
Sami is proclaiming that he came back to NXT to become the first ever 2-time NXT champion.
Joe looks a little hairier than normal. Joe appreciates Sami Zayn’s ambition, but he doesn’t think Sami deserves it. “The last time you were in this ring with your championship title shot I had to come out and save your life.” Joe says at London in Takeover “the champ said it himself, he didn’t beat me, he survived.” Joe says if Sami wants his shoulder tucked in his socket, to put the mic down and go to the back.
This has a Monday Night Raw feel to it… AANNNYYWAAYYS
Baron says Joe usually spits nonsense. He says not tonight and that Sami needs to get into the back of the line. Corbin says he was victorious at Takeover and Joe wasn’t. Baron says while Sami was at home nursing his injury, he was passed by someone more determined and durable. Baron has a good cadence going and his vocal inflection is the best I’ve ever heard from him. Corbin considered himself the uncrowned NXT Champion.
Joe says Baron doesn’t belong in this conversation because he was choked out in Brooklyn. Joe tells Sami to “know your place when your in MY ring.” Sami says “my place is in the ring and I am standing right here. Baron Corbin takes Sami Zayn out.
Sami hit a Helluva Kick and knocks Corbin out of the ring. Joe feigns going in but walks to the back instead.
And I’m Like… That didn’t feel like NXT. I mean all the motivation is spot on and the wrestlers have legitimate claims and gripes. It’s just, usually that doesn’t open a show. If these three are tangling and Apollo Crews isn’t around yet, what is Finn gonna do? Props to the crowd for not doing a bunch of chants too, they just did the ones that were appropriate for the moment.
She doesn’t think either woman won the match in London. She didn’t know she had that ferociousness in her and she still prevailed. She says she is jealous she isn’t in the battle royal because she loves them. She said depending on who wins, maybe she will give them a hug.
Here Are Your Year End NXT AWARDS-
Danny Burch vs. Tommaso Ciampa
Corey Graves said that Tommaso silenced a lot of doubters, himself included.
We start with a little bit of chain wrestling and Ciampa is able to take Burch down to the mat. He quickly does some joint manipulation, but Danny is able to gain control after a top rope drop kick. I figured this to be a squash but it is an even affair.
Ciampa gets upset a little bit and unloads with a series of hard strikes. Ciampa then does some sort of rope assisted hanging reverse russian leg sweep deal. I’m sure there is an official name, I just don’t know it.
Burch lands a punch on Ciampa that Tommaso sells by crumbling to the ground and kicking out of a very close nearfall. This match is super hard hitting. Ciampa lays in a vicious slap on Burch and wins with an innovative armbar.
And I’m Like… When I used to watch ROH, Ciampa was one of my favorites. It’s cool how he is transitioning in NXT, he doesn’t have much of a character, but he is winning people over with his offense and matches. I am excited to see more from him. Good job to Danny Burch to, for taking and receiving like a true tough guy.
Enzo and Cass have a message for Dawson and Dash. “We do not forget” Enzo said like 4 or 5 phrases he probably had in a notebook for years. Enzo has a pony like Blake and Murphy. Realest Guys are just too upset to be fun. They are serious business and I am intrigued for the match against the Ascension.
Billy Kay says tonight she is bringing the NXT woman’s division to it’s knees.
Deonna Purrazzo says she is known as the woman Asuka knocked out cold.. She said we will forget when she wins.. I already forgot until she reminded.
Emma said this week she will do what she normally does and that is make it about her.
Regal speaks about the triple promo earlier tonight. He says everyone has a legitimate point, the only way to settle this is a triple threat. Winner is true Number One Contender.
Dash and Dawson (whom I call the Carolina Wrecking Crew) vs. The Ascension
I still am not feeling Dash and Dawson’s theme song. I feel like its Slipknot made a song with Bubba Sparxxx . We are getting Yah’s all over the place.
The Ascension can be super weak on the main roster, but I think they will always be a legit threat when coming to NXT.
Dash shoves Vik in the face and Viktor primal screams and attacks Wilder. It becomes your typical Carolina Wrecking Crew match with limb work and rapid punches. CWC tag in and out, and utilize the count of 4 so they can administer THE MOST damage.
CWC had the match well in hand until Viktor hit a flash STO. Dawson is getting worked over with yah punches.
Viktor gets dumped out of the ring, so does Dash. Dash and Dawson do a blind tag to a shatter machine.
And I’m Like… Glad that match is over. I started yawning a lot when that was one. It wasn’t much of a story, they beat the tough guys. They outsmarted them and did more double team moves. Dash and Dawson are on quite a roll.
Nia is told that she is not medically cleared because she was choked out a few weeks ago. Eva is stoked to hear this and keeps trying to say it’s okay and do a yes fist pump because she don’t want Nia in the match. This storyline is making us like Nia.
Carmella says tonight is the biggest opportunity of her career. She says 2016 will get more fabolous.
Peyton Royce has her flower and says she hasn’t had a real shot in NXT. She said she is the venus flytrap of NXT and she will make it her own.
Alexa Bliss says she will win because she is focused on Bayley and not the match?
‘The Drifter’ Elias Samson vs. Corey Hollis
Elias has a good interview here . He does the whole sitting on the top rope and not caring thing.
Samson puts a headlock on and won’t let go. He holds on the grip so hard. Corey Graves says The Drifter is the worst kind of person because he says he is like Johnny Cash. Graves says Cash is a legend and Samson is a rookie. One is music, and one is wrestling.
This squash is taking a little too long, Full Sail doesn’t even have a drifter chant at all.
Samson hits a snap neckbreaker for the win, which is his 2nd win with a 2nd finisher. I wonder if this one will stick.
And I’m Like… Samson grabs the mic and talks to Hollis. Then he grabs his guitar and doesn’t have his pick. I am still torn on this guy, I feel like they could take it places that would be so much fun.
Finn interview. Finn is told there is a number one contender triple threat match. Finn says the champion never rests and he will face every challenger head to head. The hard part is waiting on who will be #1 contender. He puts over all the guys in the match and gets himself over too. Magic.
Cameron says she is here to prove she is more than a Funkydactal. Girl bye.
Aliyah says she is debuting tonight. For those who watch Breaking Ground, this is the girl with the inauthentic entrance and horrid promo. She looks super happy too. Still don’t know what her character is outside of belly dancer.
Liv Morgan is talking about how she is gonna win for Jersey, herself, her family, and the NXT universe. Ends it with a dice reference and hand motion.
Asuka says “tonight I will be number one contender.”
Woman’s Battle Royal for Number One Contender
Instead of doing all the entrances, here is the main picture.
No Dana Brooke either. I am thinking her injury was like a popped implant or something. On Breaking Ground they didn’t specifically say what the injury was.
As Eva makes her entrance ASUKA totally takes her thunder. Eva tries to do the same entrance she always does because she only knows her cues. Asuka shoves her out of the way and slowly makes it into the ring. It is ALL vs. One for REAL!!
Asuka kicks Eva in the face hard. She then looks at the rest of the roster and smiles at them like she is gonna take them all down. Emma attacks first and the girls start battling each other. WE instantly go to Battle Royale Mode and everyone is near the ropes. Eva Marie is still not in the ring…
Emma plays it smart and takes a knee by the middle rope and just kinda sits there. This is over-the-top-rope, that is a far cry from Battle Royales where you could eliminate yourself coughGAILKIMcough.
Aliyah was the first one eliminated, and it was by Cameron of all people. Oh well good she got in the ring right? Experience?
We still have no mention of Dana Brooke. Deanna get’s eliminated while I type that. There should be a 10 woman Royal Rumble for a shot at Charlotte. Liv Morgan goes for a power bomb on Cameron but they botched it and it was scary. They go for it AGAIN and almost screw it up AGAIN! Alexa Bliss comes over and ends that misery. Please don’t let those girls attempt that NXT. My heart went into my neck because anxiety.
We have Alexa Bliss, Emma, Carmella, Peyton Royce, and Billy Kay. I believe Eva is still on the outside. Some girl is doing some primitive screaming and I have no idea who it is. Carmella slid under the bottom rope with Eva Marie too. Corey points out Emma, Billy Kay, and Peyton Royce all wrestled together in Australia.
Asuka almost was eliminated by the Aussie Brunettes. Once they were trying to eliminate Asuka, they went for each other. Asuka was able to overcome Australia and then was surprise eliminated by Eva Marie. Eva was taunting and doing an air guitar like Heath Slater. Red heads and air guitars. As Eva was taunting, Carmella snuck in and threw Eva over the top rope. Carmella wins and the crowd goes nuts.
Bayley runs out and hugs Carmella to celebrate her victory. Creepy ass Asuka is smiling on the way out.
And I’m Like… That was a good battle royale. They usually aren’t my thing unless some story is attached to it. The match took a while to get the story in, all it was really was was two people thought they won it, only to be thwarted by a third. Eva had a gameplan set up and almost won, except Carmella had the same idea and waited just a little bit longer to enact her plan so she could win. The Diva’s/Woman’s divison is deep as hell y’all. Let’s hope we get more Emma, Asuka, Dana, and Bayley’s out of this bunch. Eva Marie might have a new gimmick where she is smart because she sucks at wrestling. I am interested in finding out what makes the new women of NXT tick.
That was a good show, a few slow spots but power through those and it ends nicely. NXT is all about the build, and we are one week into this build. The emotion needs a base and the base was built for a few stories tonight.
I was up early so will be in bed early. You guys be safe doing whatever you do.
Have a good one

Sorry for the late review. Not only was it Thanksgiving this past Thursday, but at 12:06 A.M. my daughter Luciana Jean was born. The process was exhausting for my wife and mentally draining for myself. She had a 24 hour labor ending in emergency c-section. That means she is by default the toughest member in our family! Lucy was pulled into this world after her arm jutted threw my wife’s stomach when the doctor made the final incision. Lucy called out Sasha Banks after her first day alive too! We are now home and life will resume halfway back to normal. I better get into the show because I feel I could write a novel after that emotional rollercoaster.
NXT OPENS
With Michael Cole standing in the ring. He says Regal put Cole in charge because William just had neck surgery . Cole said Regal wouldn’t allow what he is about to do, but Michael got a call from corporate. He said that it will be Bayley vs. Eva Marie tonight for the NXT Woman’s Championship. Also we will start the show with a NXT Championship contract signing with Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.
I wonder if people cosplay as Finn is it called Stolen Balor? Finn comes out looking serious as hell but he has time to throw his hands in the air in unison with the NXT Faithful.
Balor puts the title on the table and crowd is behind him 100%. Balor says Joe made him realize that friendship and trust in this business is a rarity. Stone Cold always said “D.T.A. Don’t Trust Anyone”. Cole says to Finn “well I was gonna introduce the challenger first”
Joe came out to a smattering of boo’s but also “Joe Joe Joe” to his beat. Joe signed the contract and left the ring in the matter of 10 seconds. Finn is left looking like a fool in the middle of the ring. He wipes his mouth and signs his name also.
And I’m Like… I get why they started with that signing. It was all steak with no sizzle but it added a bit of intensity to this feud. Graves points out that Joe didn’t even make eye contact. As Finn went to the back Joe attacks Balor like a dick. The refs slow Joe down and Finn attacks! This is pretty sweet. Even though three refs can kinda separate them. Not long though, Joe put the champ to sleep AGAIN. Hopefully, he will try that at Takeover and Finn will have found a counter.
The Vaudevillains vs. Dash and Dawson (I dubbed Carolina Wrecking Crew)
The Villains were tag champions, but it’s hard to remember anything they did that was memorable outside of Brooklyn. Dawson and Wilder come out and we get a video package of when CWC injured Big Cass of the Realest Guys in the Room.
The Villains are wearing the blue attire they wore when they won the titles in New York. Early on the Villains have control. I wonder why during a rematch for the titles, why don’t the champions, right as the bell rings, walk out of the ring and take the countout loss. You get to keep the belts and the other team loses their rematch.
In boxing, some people love the art of the sport and treat it like a science. Others, just want to punch people in the face. That represents this match. The art and science are the Vaudevillains and the punch in the face is Carolina Wrecking Crew. CWC is only in wrestling cause they like to hurt people.
As English and Dash were crawling to their respective corners, Dash was thrown to the outside by Aiden. Dawson jumped to the ground and threw Dash in so Wilder could make the tag. Love that stuff.
Gotch got a pin attempt on Dawson and the whole crowd bought the nearfall. After Dawson dodged the whirling dervish and got caught in a roll up he kicked out at two again as the crowd hung on their every move. Dash is able to tag in and they hit the shatter machine to keep their belts.
And I’m Like… CWC is perfect for NXT, the gen pop that is WWE is so LCD that they would not appreciate this type of tag team wrestling. When HHH said NXT fills a void WWE didn’t have, this is what he meant. Finn is THE MAN, CWC are no gimmicks needed and they WORK in NXT where in WWE they would get “boring” chants all day.
Realest Guys in the Room come out when the match is over and kick The Wrecking Crews ass all over the ring. CWC runs to the back while the Realest Guys stand tall in the ring.
Eva Marie does a promo about how she is the hottest and has been beating opponents. She did the promo pretty well, which is bad because her character was developed as fourth wall breaking. Being bad at wrestling and that’s why we boo her, we know wrestling is scripted and she couldn’t follow it. Now she can follow it and has Nia Jax giving her presents. I don’t know if I can boo that, or care about it.. We will see.
A promo video for Asuka vs. Dana Brooke.
Also an Elias Sampson promo, he is “The Drifter”. Which I assume is that douche coffee shop musician as a wrestling character. It is different, it’s gonna be hard to create personal feuds with him I think. All characters start one dimensionally though. It should be interesting.
Asuka comes out like a badass, biting her mask, bouncing to her music with her golden flowing robe. The crowd claps to the beat and we are ready for her to kick some ass!
Dana comes out with a microphone… “I hope you got that smiling out your system, cause in two seconds I’m gonna knock that smile off your face.” Emma then shows up to attack Asuka. Asuka caught her with a kick, turned her attention back to Dana, Emma continued the attack though. She put Asuka in the Emmalock. Dana and Emma walked away like they accomplished something. While Asuka sat in the ring with a wicked smile on her face.
And I’m Like… That progressed the story a bit. Hopefully that opens up Asuka to be more destructive than before. She doesn’t seem like she needs help to get rid of these girls either. The orange brown haired one vs. the brown blonde and the grey haired one.
Bayley is interviewed by Tom Phillips pointing out how Eva has all the odds in her favor. Bayley says that Eva is pretty but she is underestimating Bayley. “Tonight I’m gonna show Eva Marie why I’m the NXT Woman’s Champion.”
Then we get a SAMI ZAYN returns teaser that makes it emotional as hell!!!
Apollo Crews vs. Jesse Sorensen
Jesse you have probably seen before. He got his neck broke in TNA and was the former PPW World Champion. No matter his past accomplishments. He still gets caught by a drop kick from Apollo with the NXT Arena chanting “That’s too easy”.
Sorensen gets some offense in, but that really is only there to give Apollo a break in between his signatures. Apollo ends the squash with a back suplex hold into a sitout powerbomb.
And I’m Like… Apollo calls out Baron Corbin, then we see a promo by Baron Corbin who says Apollo “is gonna be that one guy that did that one thing” He says Apollo Nation is over.
Little Naitch Charles Robinson comes out as the referee. The crowd chants “HEEY WE WANT SOME BAYLEY” I guess WWE Corporate is making Robinson the ref so no controversy happens…
NXT Woman’s Championship
Eva Marie walks out to boo’s. Corey Graves says change is about to happen. Nia Jax walks out to follow Eva, both dressed in red.
Byron says “first Corporate makes this match, sends out a referee for this match, now Nia Jax? I get it. The fix is in.” Corey says what’s wrong with that “we have a responsibility to stock orders.” This makes my stomach turn! Bayley can’t lose like this. That would be THE WORST.
Bayley comes out “There ain’t no stoppin us now.” The crowd is behind her. Bayley is dancing with her shoulders like she is filled to the top with confidence. Someone behind Izzy is dressed like Eva Maria….
As the championship lights dim. Eva Marie is laughing and hold a demeanor that says she has it all figured out. Bayley looks focused but worried. Which is beautiful. Bayley has the confidence but she also is filled with self doubt. Like Kanye West said “we all self conscious”. There are two referees in the ring like this was WCCW.
Charles is on the outside though. So the we have Bayley and Eva and ONE referee. “Hey We Want Some Bayley” works before she comes out.. Cause she is the champion and comes out last. Eva does one wrestling move and does the Heath Slater “air guitar”…. ugh. Something with red heads and air guitar. Bayley hit Belly to Bayley and Nia Jax pulled the ref out. Eva hits a schoolgirl on Eva and Charles jumps in the ring to count three.
As Charles is distracted at the other ref leaving. Nia headbutts Bayley and Eva goes for a pin. TWO nearfalls that everyone and their wrestling lovin grandmothers fell for. I really feel like Bayley doesn’t have a chance.
The match works though because Bayley hits these big desperation moves and Eva is toughing it out. Eva can only get believable nearfalls if there is cheating involved. Robinson even stops Bayley from doing her running corner spear. Eva hits sliced bread and Eva only gets two. She yells at Charles and goes “1, 2 ,3” Charles goes “I know, I know” Bayley can’t take it anymore and throws Eva into Robinson.
Bayley goes for top rope Bayley to Belly. Nia Jax grabs Bayley’s foot. Bayley takes out Nia Jax, she hits a top rope Bayley to Belly. The injured ref runs into the ring for the three count.
And I’m Like… That match was sweet. It was reebok shoe ugly but Bayley was able to defeat three adversaries on her way to winning the bout. Nia attacks Bayley from behind and lays down some leg drops while holding the NXT Woman’s Title. Bayley knocked down Bliss, and Marie, next up Jax.
Well I’m gonna go to bed. This review took longer than normal because daughters need feeding and sleeping and holding and stuff.
Thanks for the read, please like and share.

Hey people of the internet, hope you’ve had a good couple of days. My last few have been drab with glimmers of excitement. Still no baby, but the doctor said my wife is progressing..? Yesterday at the restaurant one of our regulars had a coughing fit, couldn’t get enough oxygen and passed out, hitting his head on the ledge of the window and then shaking with his eyes rolling in the back of his head. I had started walking to the back, but when he hit his head I ran towards him, asked “Are you alright?!?” When of course he wasn’t!! He came to when I was near my cell phone to call an ambulance. He instantly was normal again and said that he is fine and not to worry. I guess, according to him, this happens all the time and it’s some condition he has. I didn’t question him, he refused an ambulance again, paid his tab and left.
I also had one customer tell me my Broccoli and Cheese soup was tasteless, while minutes later another one said it was super tasty and the best he has had. If that isn’t a metaphor for wrestling fans I don’t know what is. Same product at the same time, opposite responses. I feel like that was a good enough segue to get into NXT.
Intro Video
We get our normal video to start the show, you know, “The roar of the crowd…” that video.
“NXT” chants from the crowd as we enter inside the NXT arena.
Carmella seems less energized and more trembly. Her opponent comes out and its Nia Jax so I can understand why Carmella is acting the way she is.
Right before the match begins both girls take a deep but subtle breath. Making me think they are calming their nerves.
Carmella was in the corner, she tried to use her speed to gain distance on Nia. Jax cut her off on the left and the right. Carmella took a deep breath and went at Nia, that led to Jax hitting a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Jax asks Carmella “Hi Carmella, How are you doing?”
Carmella gets put in a bearhug reminiscent of Chyna/Marlena The difference from that and this is that Carmella knows how to do a front neck lock.
Even though Carmella is brave, quick and crafty. She is overpowered by Nia, especially when it comes to moves based on weight distribution. Like when Carmella goes for a hurricanrana and Nia is able to just stand there a reposition Carmella into a spinebuster. After the spinebuster usually comes the leg drop, which was no different here. Nia Jax wins in dominant fashion.
And I’m Like… Impressed with Carmella, she was scrappy and had gained quite a bit of crowd support. So much so that when Nia was celebrating her victory the crowd was chanting “Carmella”. I like that the Diva division is getting more depth and the deeper we go we can still find talented wrestlers.
Blake and Murphy stand behind Alexa Bliss promo
Alexa says her hand is fine after slapping Bayley and taking the title. It’s her ears that aren’t fine. Because she hears about the Ironman match from Takeover all the time. She said she is “Blissed off”. Bayley was looking for respect at Takeover and got it, Bliss isn’t looking for respect but for a title. She says she is beautiful strong and takes what she wants. Blake and Murphy are in the background with their trademark Blake and Murphy shirts making the best facial expressions. Maximize your minutes boys!!
Bliss says Bayley had a good run but the other Four Horsewomen are gone and left Bayley here in NXT “where she belongs”. A referee shows up and lets Alexa know Blake and Murphy are banned from ringside. Alexa says “tonight I’ll Bliss on Bayley”
And I’m Like… Usually like puns but using a pun for piss is weird to me. I have nothing to complain about from that but I do have a question. If a Superstar or Diva bring up their looks in a promo, or introduce them to us as viewers. Are we then allowed to make comments about their looks? If Bliss says she is a nice person, I’m allowed to say the reasons why she is not. If Bliss says she is beautiful, is it “Not PC” to say why I think she isn’t? Is that being sexist and misogynistic?
The Ascension vs. Gable and Jordan
The Illuminati’s favorite team is back at the NXT Arena. They looked pumped as hell too.
Gable and Jordan have sweet matching singlets. This match feels like it’s got more gravitas to it than other matches. Which is weird because there hasn’t been any build outside of two promos. The history of the Ascension being so dominate mixed with the new awesomeness that is Gable and Jordan already have a built in story though. The Ascension were top dogs and are now on WWE main roster, so if Jordan and Gable can beat them, that means they can hang with main roster talent. The wrestling team vs. the brute strength team.
The teams face off a bit into the match and the crowd is anticipating the chaos. They chant “Yah Yah, Yah Yah, Yah Yah, yah yah” in the vein of “Gable, Gable, Gable, gable” which was in the vein of Kurt Angle’s theme song chant of “You Suck” it’s really interesting how inside jokey the NXT arena chants have become.
Gable and Jordan are continually adding new double team moves to their matches. They now have a revolving door spot like New Day’s trombone kicks. It’s shoulder tackle in the corner, tag, shoulder tackle in the corner, tag, do this until the end when it’s a double northern lights suplex pin combo.
Dueling “Let’s go Gable/ Yah Yah Yah”. Konnor shows off his power and his weird weird movements. Viktor is hyping it up on the apron. Corey Graves with a good statement. “People pay attention to the Divas division in NXT but the tag division is the place to be.” That creates conversation about how the tag division isn’t getting as much light as the Diva’s but there are too many good teams not to get noticed.
Ascension works over Gable for the hot tag build. It’s smart too cause Gable is way loved by the NXT Universe and he is the smaller of the two which is what we are kind of used to for hot tag sequences.
Jordan gets the hot tag and there isn’t cheers as much as Jason Jordan chants and I don’t know how I feel about that until Jason Jordan takes the straps down and the crowd lights up. Jordan is taking care of the Ascension pretty well but he ran into Rick Viktor for the pin. Gable broke it up and Viktor throws him to the apron, Gable just flips onto Konnor to take him out, Gable rushes over to his corner to blind tag Jordan. Jason ain’t mad at it though, he sets up Gable for their finisher and the win.
And I’m Lke…
Mikey and Life cereal
I liked it. The Ascension put up the biggest fight that Gable and Jordan have had. Gable couldn’t really wrestle them because of the strength of The Ascension but him and Jordan were able to work together and wrestle smart for the victory. Good job all around.
There is a video package for Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss. They highlight Bayley saying she wants to change peoples perception of women’s wrestling. Then we see Alexa coming out, congratulating Bayley, then snatching the title from her and snapping one liners about Bayley not being championship material. They cut to Bayley talking about how she isn’t sure where this is coming from in Alexa and Bayley just wants to be a role model. Alexa and Bayley both say they will be NXT Women’s champion.
Sometimes I get caught up calling it Diva’s, sorry I’m conditioned!!
Bayley cuts a promo about how Alexa will get a wrestling lesson of her life respect isn’t given it’s earned. “while she is coming along great, she is out of her league” Bayley says the only reason she ain’t on the main roster is cause she is the champion of NXT.
And I’m Like… Kinda excited for the match but Bayley has to win. I don’t feel emotions behind the match, but that will come in time I’m sure.
Since only Emma got an entrance I am leaning towards an Emma victory. Mary Kate is very aggressive though, forearm and shoulder blocks with authority until Emma goes strike crazy. She just flipped a switch and got MEAN! Where is Dana Brooke by the way? They are usually a team.
Corey says that Emma is dominating here and “she is ready for Asuka.” Emma is more aggressive than I’ve ever seen and the commentators agree saying this is in response to Asuka’s offense.
Emma does the Emma lock and does not let go after Mary Kate taps out. Asuka.. look out.
And I’m Like… Picking up what Emma is laying down. She needs to be meaner and more serious to be a threat towards Asuka, so we get to see her unleash that side out of her. This should be fun going forward.
We see a replay of Baron Corbin interfering in Apollo Crews and Finn Balor’s championship match. Then we see before Corbin’s match Apollo comes out and gets at him. A promo by Corbin saying “I just don’t like you… your destined to be a failure. You wanna go Apollo? I challenge you for a match at Takeover:London”
Dash and Dawson (I call them Carolina Wrecking Crew cause they don’t have a team name) vs. Corey Hollis and John Skyler
Another match where there was only one entrance.. This has to set up something in the future where the person that doesn’t get the entrance gets a surprise victory.
There was a bit of wrestling and brawling going on but the second Dawson got a dragon screw on the leg it was isolation and decimation. In between the leg work, there were plenty of punches to the head. The crowd is quiet though, not even a chant, that’s not the status quo for NXT Arena.
Commentators are dropping these little taglines for CWC “No flips just fists” “isolate and decimate” I like it, I wish they were on t-shirts. Hollis was able to hit an enziguri and get the hot tag, but the second Skyler got in the ring he was hit with the mechanical Shatter Machine. Dash and Dawson make quick work of their non-entrance having opponents.
And I’m Like… That was a good showcase match to remind us who the champions are and why they are on top. There gimmick is “no gimmicks needed” so they wrestle and dissect and win.
Asuka was about to get interviewed but Dana Brooke up and said Asuka earned her respect but Dana is upset Asuka patted her on the head. Asuka is challenging Asuka to a rematch on NXT TV. Asuka says “YES!”
Emma shows up and asks Dana “did she buy it?” Dana says “oh yeah, hook, line, and sienker!” in her best Ohioan voice.
Samoa Joe is out of town and cuts a promo about how he isn’t there because Regal is afraid Finn will retaliate against Joe. Joe says the truth is that he is not there for his protection, it’s for Finns. The contract signing is next week. Joe says he is gonna take the belt in London.
NXT Woman’s Championship
Bayley (c) vs. Alexa Bliss
Before Bayley enters the crowd says “HEY, We want some Bayley!” Bayley comes out and does her high-belt with Izzy.
For those wondering we have brown hair vs. blonde with red tips hair. We also get the DOPE championship lighting. Neither girl stands in the spotlight though..
Alexa tells Bayley to “come on” and NXT Arena is RELENTLESS with there “hey we want some Bayley”. Alexa was beating up Bayley and talking smack, but Bayley took the fight to Bliss. The crowd is slowing down in there chants. Which is good cause they have some Bayley right now.
Bayley is leading this match and it’s sometimes noticeable. Bayley will be a little faster to the next spot and Bliss is trying to keep up, she just doesn’t seem to be there yet. Bayley even does this OUCHIE arm submission.
Bayley was trying to set up for her through the bottom rope corner dropkick but Alexa knows Bayleys moveset and got out of the way. Alexa is able to catch Bayley in the ropes as we go to commercial break.
Alexa has Bayley in the NXT Lock (I call the move that cause it seems everyone in NXT does this rest hold.) She does some punches and stuff then tries to pin Bayley for a one count. After a bit Bliss puts Bayley back in the NXT Lock.
Goes for a pin for two and AGAIN WITH THE NXT LOCK!! This girl needs to diversify her offense! Bayley is really selling her arm on every move she hits. NXT Arena is getting all “ravey/soccer matchy” when they do the “Hey we want some Bayley” and are jumping and not really even watching the match…
Bayley hits a good powerslam for two, that was after her running double axehandle which are part of her signature sequence. Alexa is getting near falls but it doesn’t seem like anyone is falling for them. I think even if Bliss hit the Sparkle Splash I would expect Bayley to kick out.
Bliss yells at Bayley and the crowd is all “Hey’ing” Bayley fires up, slaps Bliss and retains her title after a Bayley to Belly.
And I’m Like… Not faulting the girls, or the story, or the crowd (even though they are overdoing it a bit with the one Bayley chant.) It just.. you know that Bayley will be champion for a while, probably until Nia Jax or Asuka or Dana Brooke or Emma take it. See how many challengers are believable? Take Blake and Murphy out of the match and that takes away Bliss’ chance to win.
Eva Marie comes out to ruin Bayley’s celebration… Ugh, please don’t be the next challenger.
Eva has a mic too….. She keeps trying to bathe in the boo’s but they aren’t boo’ing. The second NXT Arena does boo, she continues with her lines. She expected them to stop boo’ing but they don’t and she kinda doesn’t know what to do. She keeps looking and saying “ok be quiet” then puts her arms out to bathe in the boo’s. Bayley tries to quiet the crowd down too help Eva out, she motions to Eva to continue with the script, they don’t though. Eva says next week is a title match against her. The crowd already was boo’ing so it didn’t matter much. That was rough….
Ok so next week we have a contract signing, another Woman’s championship match. Some other things I’m sure. Hopefully I’ll have a baby girl by then.. That is up to my wife though.
Thanks for the read, and if you liked or shared, thank you for that too!
You have a good one!

Howsy whatsits, my children? So, the world has had kind of a rough week. It's times like this that innocuous stuff like wrestling is so important. It entertains. It presents a sense of normalcy in a crazy world. It takes us to another place where people control supernatural elements in 2015 and have quiet conversations in front of cameras or yell at one another with microphones from 4 feet away. It's silly and unimportant and sort of shallow. But it's a source of joy and smiles for millions the world over. The world would be a better place if more people could find the thing that is to them what wrestling is to many of us. A world where something could make us forget our troubles, at least for a while.
That said, let's talk about tonight. Let's do so quickly because the screen before I hit play is stuck on Undertaker's tongue and that is just totally weirding me out over here. Tonight we have two important matches. Alexa Bliss takes on Bayley for the NXT Women's Title (or Divas' Title, since I've heard both). Also, Jordan and Gable take on The Ascension. The first should be interesting because they've built some other plotlines to go with it. Nia Jax is in the hunt and Eva Marie is somehow involving herself with Jax. Blake and Murphy are present and could affect things (they're not teaming, so no name tonight). Lots going on there that could throw everything out of whack. In the other match, it's pretty clear that The Ascension is here to do a job. Or are they? And will Stardust be with them? Is this Jordan and Gable's ramp up to the main roster? Or is it just a filler to get them in line to face The Mechanics while that situation with The Vaudevillains plays out? Who else will appear? How great will Corey Graves be? How many matches will be interrupted by commercials? I don't know any of these things. Neither do you unless you read spoilers. I don't. Most of us don't. SO let's go to the show. Hello NXT, goodbye old man tongue! Straight into the theme song for the first time in a while. Add that to the show being longer than last week by about 5 minutes and I find it intriguing in a hopeful way. And straight into a match. K.
CARMELLA VS NIA JAX
Carmella informs us that she's the Princess of Staten Island and the most fabulous diva in NXT. "Bada bing…hottest chick in the ring. How you doin?" Saxton answers that he's about average. Heh. She is alone which confirms that they're going to keep Enzo out and pretend he's injured while Cass actually is. Jax is out next and Corey points out that Carmella may be the Princess of Staten Island, but Nia is the Princess of anywhere she chooses. That's a fair point. They're presenting Carmella as her biggest challenge, despite this being the first time I've seen Carmella wrestle on tv. Hell, I didn't even know she was trained until she got a stinger in a match with Eva Marie at a house show (which was more proof that Eva was the worst thing ever according to hundreds of men who didn't see what happened).
Normally I kind of gloss over action in the ring because I'm largely way too lazy to try and keep up, let alone transcribe it adequately. In this case though it's for a very different reason. This match sucks. Carmella and her "experience" clearly doesn't belong in the same ring as Jax. One of these people is in NXT to develop their skills and the other is there to polish them before a big main roster run. The difference was clear as Jax had to help Carmella get to a lot of her spots. This was a bad, bad decision by the booking team that didn't do either lady any favors. It frankly wasn't fair and both would've been better served to be booked against the more experienced women in the lower/midcard of NXT. Your Peyton Royces and Billie Kays and such. Meh. Or even that random jersey jobber. That might've been fun for Carmella to do her Princess thing and then go beat Deonna or whatever her name is. Either way, they didn't, and we got a really awkward bout because of it.
NOT SO BLISSFUL
I may not think highly of Alexa Bliss in the ring, but on the mic she's very good. She paints a nice picture about how done she is with the whole "Bayley earned respect" thing, while Blake and Murphy hilariously gesture in the background. Their squad game is on point. I halfway think I said that correctly. Anyway, random ref comes up and informs them that Regal said Blake and Murphy were banned from ringside. They begin to object but Alexa stops them and says it's cool. She's confident and ready to go, and looking very determined. An excellent use of 3 minutes of TV time right there. Alexa's acting is on par with her mic skills, and Blake and Murphy contributed without being the focus in a very solid way.
BUSINESS?
They let us know that the tag team match is next. Then we cut to an Undertaker commercial. We finish up the break by reminding people that…something. I wasn't paying attention, frankly. Let's go back to the show, k?
ASCENSION VS JORDAN AND GABLE
Ascension gets a great reaction from the crowd and also gets the big sell as being the epitome of greatness in NXT. Graves even points out that their title reign started when they beat himself and Neville. It was odd that Rich (blech!) referred to them as the "gatekeepers of tag team wrestling in NXT". Weirdness. Jordan and Gable are out next and actually get less of a pop than Ascension did. Before anyone touches the crowd chants "this is awesome". As if he'd been waiting, Graves says "if you think this is awesome…" and shills an upcoming show. Heh. The crowd continues to chant at pretty much everything and both teams play it up during their initial control sequences.
Graves continues his great work during Konner choking Gable by saying "I don't care how many Olympics you've been in, that'll wear you down". Gable is kind of a perfect "face in peril" and Jordan makes a really good "house of fire" guy. Thus they play these roles before turning the tides on the Ascension and taking the match. It was well done and probably the best thing Ascension's done in six months. Other than covering Stardust's ears when people chant Cody. Jordan and Gable looked really good, and I mean that objectively and not as a huge fanboy (which I freely admit to being). The announcers even hype up what I mentioned earlier by pointing out that the tag ranks in NXT are flooded with talent and the title is in jeopardy for even the new champs. Saxton and Graves agree that Jordan and Gable are the tag team of the future.
FEUDVISION
We get a little talky talky about the Bayley/Alexa issue and then a lookback. We get shots of all the major players in the Four Horsemen and some Bliss smack talking mixed in. They even toss in a bit of footage from Breaking Ground. That's how you use the Network people. We also get a shot of Izzy crying. The works, more or less. The short version? Bayley is a plucky do-gooder champion and Alexa is a jealous lady with anger issues and medium sized bodyguards (you know their name). Then we cut to Bayley and Tom Generic. Sidenote: he's actually great at his job and has been an important part of some of the hilarious Kevin Owens interviews as of late. Check those out after the show. In the meantime, Bayley is here to let us know that it's tough to be champion. She did not confirm her thoughts on the relative ease of being cheesy. She did say she's going to show Alexa how hard it is and some standard face talkery.
EMMA VS JOBBER
After a quick commercial for NXT in London, we cut to someone already in the ring and the announcer saying "and her opponent". Ha. That opponent is Emma, who makes sure we see her butt. We do, Emma. I can't tell who the other woman is but she is easily taller than Emma and larger than anyone not named Nia Jax. She even gets a little offense before Emma and her tiny gloves take over. I think they may have called her Mary Kay? I don't know. She's decent enough though. Jobber Kay DOES keep making a really obvious smack of the turnbuckle whenever Emma smashes her into it though. It's distracting, actually. Not too distracting to take note of Emma's aggressive offense and nasty streak, though. It totally suits her as well. She's working it very nicely as the announcers mention Asuka roughly 284 times. Emma wins handily.
STUFF
Remember the Balor vs Crews match that kicked off "NXT 2015 MAIN EVENT PALOOZA FEST 2015"? We get another recap. And now Corbin gets to talk. It's certainly better than in the past. His delivery is a bit more even and his facial expressions don't look like he's pleading for help. He's also to the point and says he flat out doesn't like Crews. He goes on to challenge Crews and say dreams don't come true and some other solid heel stuff. His best promo to date in my opinion. He really is having a hell of an improvement year isn't he? The announcers shill this match and then remind us about Alexa and Bayley later and let us know The Mechanics will be in action next. Then they show us another official theme song for NXT London. A song I've never heard by a band I've never heard featuring someone with blue hair. K.
THE MECHANICS VS COREY HOLLIS AND JOHN SKYLER
The champions enter first…wait….nevermind. The jobbers are already in the ring. Oh…they get announced names. And then we find out via Rich (blech) that the jobbers faced The Mechanics before they came to NXT. And incidentally, we also find out that the Vaudevillains get their rematch next week. Nothing says you're not getting the belts back like losing on a regular show and then getting the rematch on a regular show even though we're pimping a big card and actually made a match for it in the segment before this one. Rich asks what kind of human being enjoys watching a person get torn apart. Graves notes that he won't defend himself because he's enjoying this. "This" being Dash and Dawson just continually pummeling Corey Hollis. Hollis finally breaks free and makes the tag and Skyler literally runs directly into whatever the finisher is called that The Mechanics use. Ha. That's a nice showcase of the champs right there.
ASUKA LADY HOYA
Shut up, that segment title is hilarious. Tom asks about the mask and Dana interrupts to talk about Asuka gaining her respect and also to complain about the pat on the head and challenges Asuka to a rematch next week. Asuka takes off her mask and says "yessssss" like a cartoon supervillain. The she leaves and Dana pats Tom on the head and tells him to leave. Then Emma shows up and they brag about Asuka falling hook line and sinker. Well…that was entertaining actually. I cracked a smile three separate times in a minute or so. This weird little feud is turning out to be precisely what each of these women needs. Dana gets more time in the ring with a bigtime vet to improve and more mic time. Asuka gets character and fanbase building. Emma gets to further her heel character. Remember what I said last week? Build and execute. Repeat. That's good booking in a nutshell.
HEY JOE WHADDYA KNOW
Remember Finn and Joe are squabbling? Cool. Joe's gonna talk about it now. He's not at NXT. He says it's because Regal was afraid of Balor attacking Joe. He says he's going to rightfully take over the NXT Title in London. Also, there's a weird trapezoid window behind Joe that's drawing my attention from an otherwise very good promo. Either way, Joe is ready. He's will…wait…scratch that. Let's tick with Joe's ready. Also, he buttons his shirts all the way up. That's important information to take note of.
ALEXA BLISS VS BAYLEY
Alexa is out alone first. Bayley and the wacky inflatable tube guy are out next. Remember when they used a picture of the tube guy bent over to convey sadness for Bayley? Hilarious. Anyway, Bayley interacts with an adoring, slightly cultish crowd and hands out a slap bracelet because why the hell not. It's Bayley. We get the important ring announcing and I learn that Alexa is from Columbus, Ohio. No wonder the state keeps losing population. They're all leaving to work for WWE. The ref and his medium Lance Bass likeness shows us the title and then we're ready to start.
Bayley starts aggressively and Corey says Alexa might've woken the monster inside of Bayley. Would that be a glitter monster? An important question for later. In the meantime, I have to give Alexa credit on one aspect of her ring work. Her reactions to stuff are great. She is screaming "no" when block a suplex attempt, screeching when things hurt, and making awesome facial sells. That's good stuff. I reflect on this as we get our required midmatch commercial for NXT's Shopzone page and the Undertaker. I have a brief giggling fit as I imagine some random NXT heel challenging anyone and Taker coming out. Everyone would lose their damn minds.
In a shocking move, a heel announcer disagrees with a heel. Graves says that he loves Alexa but her saying Bayley is living off the Four Horsewoman legacy (earlier in the show) is ridiculous. Hah! That's actually pretty refreshing. IN the ring, the crowd is all kinds of behind Bayley (I'm telling you…it's more than a little cult like). After Bayley hits a couple axe handles, she misses the third and then Alexa winds up with a home run slap that drops Bayley. Nice spot there. I actually verbally said "ow!" in response. They go back and forth and Bliss continues the great reactions. After a big slap of her own and a Bayley to Belly, the plucky underdog champion wins. All in all? Not a bad match. Alexa showed a little bit more this time than what I've seen previously, which is good. Bayley got to play the leader instead of the follower here, and did a fine job. And then she runs around the ring selling the injuries of the match and feeding off the crowd. And then the bomb drops (I suspect).
Eva Marie comes out, mic in hand. She pauses from talking several times to feed off the crowd heat. Nice move. Then a "now be quiet you little dorks". Bayley leans in to hear her better from the rampant crowd noise. Nice touch there too. The crowd just keeps getting louder. Eva keeps stopping to taunt them. Finally, Eva informs us that she's getting a shot at Bayley next week. The crowd switches from booing Eva with Hitleresque levels of hate and instead cheers Bayley. Eva leaves, while Bayley plays to the crowd.
It wasn't great or anything. But definitely an improvement over other live stuff we've seen from Red. Her interplay with the audience was good, too. She didn't panic and Bayley helped her a lot too. These are good steps over what we've seen before (for Bayley, too actually). Now…I can only imagine that this will be a minority opinion and such. That's fine. It's easy to be blinded by dislike. And you can try to slice it any way you want, but Eva Marie had MASSIVE heel heat. And she played into it. And got more. And then uber face Bayley took the crowd back at the end. Which is kind of the thing you would hope would happen, actually. Both as a fan and as the people booking things. Whether or not you like Eva Marie, you have to acknowledge that this main event segment was sure as hell better than the one on Raw.
FINAL THOUGHTSES
Solid show. A few missteps and an ending that will be overly debated and scrutinized I'm sure. Yet that doesn't change the overall effect of the show that saw some high points for various people in their development. That's a successful show for the best indy company in the US/developmental program/midsized cotton candy vendor. And that's really all we should ask for. In the world of the great Jonny Gomez, good fight, good night.
