#1MansOpinion- Top 10 Unsigned Talents in North & South Carolina

Before IВ  begin with my list, a few orders of business. If a wrestler doesn’t appear on the list, first and foremost it does not indicate that I do not appreciate their abilities and the accomplishments they’ve reached to this point in their career. It’s simply 1MansOpinion! If you have questions, gripes, or feel like the list is somewhat credible I will ALWAYS leave my social media information at the end of my columns and welcome your feedback. Secondly, “Unsigned” is to be taken loosely in this context, obviously if the person in question regularly appearsВ  on WWE, Impact Wrestling, Lucha Underground, ROH, or any other televised wrestling promotion andВ  they will NOT be a part of this list (Ex: John Cena, Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, Cedric Alexander, Adam Page, Jay Lethal,В  Richochet, Shane Strickland, Bobby Roode, Bobby Lashley, etc,..) Also if a competitor HAS appeared regularly on a televised promotion and now competes on the local indy scene they are exempt from the list (Ex: Steve Corino, The Hardys, Hurricane, etc,.) Finally, HAVE FUN WITH THIS LIST!!! Again, I welcome differing opinions and your thoughts on the list below so here we Go!!!!

Skyler
“The Southern Savior” John Skyler – Skyler, a native of Columbia, SC is all about preaching the truth, trampling the weak, and hurdling the dead. With nearly 7 years as a professional wrestler, Skyler has built a reputation for being one of the most proficient heels on the local independent scene and he has the in ring talent to back it up. The Southern Savior has already appeared in numerous “extra” roles on WWE television and has competed on an international level as well. As of this writing he is the current (and two time) WrestleForce Heavyweight Champion, made it to the finals of The 2014 ECWA Super 8 Tournament (losing to “M-Dogg” Matt Cross in the finals) andВ  competes regularly for Premiere Wrestling Xperience as well as various independent companies throughout the southeast and beyond.

Joe

“The Black Cloud” Joe Black- The Black Cloud is truly a unique entity in the world of independent professional wrestling, a man who has put rebuilding his body into a stocky, powerhouse of athleticism. Heavily influenced by the japaneseВ  “strong style” of professional wrestling but also speedy, agile and innovative Joe Black is a formidable opponent for any competitor. Having just 4 1/2 years of experience the trajectory of Black’s career has steadily increased from month to month and looks to not slow down anytime soon. The Black Cloud cut his teeth with CWF Mid-Atlantic and now works for the NWA regularly, has become a regular in Premiere Wrestling Xperience as of late 2014 and appears in Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia, Texas and several other states and companies across the U.S. Joe Black has yet to reach his pinnacle but it’s only a matter of time, I’m inclined to believe sooner than later he’ll be competing on an international level and if not…Those fans, promoters and international wrestlers are missing out on something special.

Zane Dawson

“The One Man RIOT” Zane Dawson- One of the best unsigned big men in the world of professional wrestling Zane Dawson began his career and continues to fight alongside his brother Dave Dawson, The Dawsons are one of the most feared tag teams in the Carolinas and once you see them in action you’ll know exactly why. Zane has broken out in singles competition as of late and is the current PWI International Heayweight Champion a title he now holds for the second time. If you’re an experienced or knowledgable fan of pro wrestling you’ll immediately see a resemblance between Dawson and the legendary Bruiser Brody both big, bruising, relentless powerhouses Dawson is a throw back to the old days of pro wrestling. The One Man Riot competes regularly for CWF Mid-Atlantic, OMEGA, and various companies around the coast of North Carolina, this is another talent who is well fitted to compete internationally and would be a BIG hit in the Orient.

Tessa

Tessa Blanchard- The surname is automatically recognizable to most wrestling fans immediately, daughter of original Four Horsemen and Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard, stepdaughter of another legend, Magnum TA but there is much more to this young woman than her name. Tessa’s passion for the business was set in motion as she attended the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony (where her father was honored) sheВ  has the ambition, determination and drive to reach the pinnacle of professional wrestling and will one day be World champion for at least one major promotion. Still, very early on in her career Tessa Blanchard adds to her accomplishments often and impressiely she won the inaugural ECWA Women’s Super 8 Tournament and became the first women’s champion in the storied company’s history,is now a part of the premiere women’s promotion in the United States SHIMMER,В  also of this writing she is currently undefeated in PWX and one of the most despised (by the fans) at Trans-South Wrestling in addition to competing regularly all across the United States including appearing on WWE TV a few times.В  Soon, this 3rd generation athlete will take her talent to the north for a tour of Canada and that is surely to just be the beginning of her career outside of the country. “Destined For Greatness (#D4G) is not just a tag line for Tessa Blanchard, you’ll be seeing her for many years to come and I’d bet on that being sooner than later.

Trevor

Trevor Lee- This is most certainly a name most of you reading this will have heard of by now, Trevor Lee is a second generation pro wrestler based out of Cameron, NC (which should also sound familiar to wrestling fans) Lee is a very young man but has been competing in the ring for a number of years. A mainstay at CWF Mid-Atlantic in Gibsonville, NC where he graduated from the CWF DojoВ  Trevor got his early start profesionallyВ  like many his age do, under a mask.В  After a breakout performance at the first ever National Pro Wrestling Day in Philadelphia, PA he began receiving numerous offers to travel the United States and has competed for Pro Wrestling Guerilla, CHIKARA, Full Impact Pro, and many others. He has racked up an impressive list of wins and stellar performances in California and earned a permanent roster spot with one of the foremost indies in the world PWG. Trevor Lee has defeated Kevin Steen (Owens), Chris Hero, Michael Elgin and had an excellent performance in a loss to PWG Champion Roderick Strong. Locally he still competes regularly for his “home promotion” CWF Mid-Atlantic and also for OMEGA, With many, many years left in his career and the undeniable “it” the future looks bright for TREVOOOOOORRRR!!!

Jaxson

The “THOROUGHBRED” Jaxson James- Hailing from South Carolina James and after four years playing college football the man now known as The THOROUGHBRED was focused on getting to the next level of the sport. James instead went to train at a local promotion in the Palmetto State and just two weeks in he was approached by WWE’s developmental promotion (then Florida Championship Wrestling now NXT) and James went on to be part of the last tryout group before FCW closed it’s doors. This experience further ignited James’ passion for pro wrestling and he went on to get the majority of his training from the legendary Dr. Tom Prichard. Still just a little shy of two years in the business, the name says it all the former collegiate football player is tenacious in any goal he takes on and by way of that has been ableВ  to achieve great opportunities like working closely with the legendary Armstrong Family in Florida headlining the Brad Armstrong Memorial Shows, appearing in segments on WWE television and those opportunities even extend outside the wrestling world as he has appeared on Steve Austin’s “Broken Skull Challenge” this past year. What we have seen to this point is only the beginning for Jaxson James, a dedicated athlete who constantly tries to better himself physically the opportunities that James hardwork has afforded him will continue well into the future and whether it be winning gold on the independent level, or getting a contract with a worldwide promotion The THOROUGHBRED guarantees he has plenty of impact left to leave.

Arik

Arik Royal- The longest reigning CWF Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion in the promotion’s 15+ year history Arik Royal is another professional wrestler who helped his home promotion practically steal all the headlines from the very first National Pro Wrestling Day. While a lot of the other competitors in that match have sky rocketed to success around the world, Royal wrestles the majority of his matches in CWF the place that gave him his start. The big man was and remains simply dominant in Gibsonville, NC! Royal has put a tremendous amount of effortВ  into getting his body into better shape, he was incredibly agile and versatile at his highest weight (well over 300 lbs.) but the slimmed down yet still hard hitting and dynamic Arik Royal is even more dangerous. The Califlornia native has competed in his home state on Pro Wrestling Syndicate show as part of WrestleMania weekend a couple years back and recently debuted for Full Impact Pro in Florida on Ippv. Royal welcomes any and every opportunity to expand his territory and he should be given the opportunity to show why he is one of the BIGGEST, best kept secrets in independent wrestling today.

Timmy Lou

Timmy Lou Retton- Wrestling’s Only Olympic Gymnast has everything it takes to leave his impact in the world of professional wrestling. Youth, Athleticism, Charisma, and a unique gimmick that suits him as well if not better than many of his colleagues in the sport today. Retton is only in his second year competing and after a headturning rookie “season” which put him on many promotion’s radars across the Carolinas he is expanding to states like Tennessee, West Virginia and elsewhere to entertain the masses. Having just made history as the youngest heayweight champion in GOUGE Championship Wrestling history after ending the 17 month reign of the previous champ, Retton seems to have only cracked the surface of his true potential and if nothing else seems like a lock to show up amongst the zany cast of characters in CHIKARA and even go well beyond.

Caleb

Caleb Konley- This is a name who has certainly already left a lasting impact on the world of professional wrestling but there could still be much more ahead. Ask anyone around the Carolinas and they’ve probably seen at least a handful of memorable matches featuring Konley whether it be vs Cedric Alexander, Adam Cole, Michael Elgin or anyone else in the long list of indy wrestling’s best. Beyond that Caleb Konley is a regular for DGUSA/EVOLVE and FIP in Florida were he is the current FIP Heavyweight Champion and competes for a myriad of other promotions including Paragon Pro Wrestling out of Las Vegas, and WCWC out of Oregon (where he is also the champion as of this writing) Of course Caleb Konley has been a staple in the premiere promotion in North Carolina, PWX for sometime and is the longest reigning champion in their history, currently having great success as in The REVOLT alongside Zane Riley. The sky is the limit for Konley and he could be one of the indy wrestling success stories if given the chance to compete for Impact Wrestling, WWE, or even GFW.

Ethan Photo Credit: Jovi Sixx Photography

Ethan Case- The final spot goes to a self described ‘Sports Entertainer’ who is on a “quest for contracts’. Ethan Case is the current PWI Pro International Ultra J Champion and has defended and retained that title against guys like Cedric Alexander, Andrew Everett, and Lance Lude in another quest to prove that he is the undisputed best Jr. Heavyweight in the world. Case enters every match with flare and showmanship comparable to the greats in tihs business, guys like Shawn Michaels andВ  Randy Savage who are synonymous with charisma in the world of pro wrestling. That not enough? Ethan Case is also 1/2 of a very successful tag team Worst Case Scenario, alongside partner Elijah Evans IV despite recent differences the team continues to compete in SWA, CWF Mid-Atlantic, and some other promotions across the Southeast.В  So Case has the showmanship, the championship pedigree, the in ring skill to perform to an audience of any size, and the focus to reach the pinnacle of professional wrestling in one form or another. That is why the bleach blonde bump machine gets my final spot in this top 10 list.

BEST OF THE REST
As I said when I started this there are more than ten indy wrestlers in the Carolinas who could take that next step if asked to do so tomorrow but the list just didn’t have room for them all. I highly encourage you to keep your eye on the following people as well because this is a group that much like our top 10 are doing everything right and should see the fruits of their labors sooner than later.

Lance Lude- Currently injured, journeyman already had stints with CZW & ROH early in his career. Should Lude get a chance to return to the ring he is always a highlight of the night and would be for any major promotion.
Corey Hollis- This tough young man from Alabama may fool you with his short stature but their is nothing lacking about his wrestling skill, conditioning, or his mean streak. Hollis has had one or two tryout spots for ROH and those should just be the first of many for this talented half of Country Jacked.

Marcellus King- This dominant heavyweight who once lead a ominous group named The Cirkus doesn’t appear as much as he once did, the key reason for him not quite cracking the top 10 of this list. ‘The Army of One” has recently been KO’ing anyone in his path exclusively in CWF Mid-Atlantic and Firestar Pro Wrestling in the Greensboro, NC area. You can’t see King and not draw comparison to Bad News Brown (but with a worse attitude and deadlier KO elbow) If given the opportunity for promotions like EVOLVE, DGUSA, or ROH King could make a real impact already having victories on the independent scene over guys like Bobby Lashley, Lance Anoa’i, Cedric Alexander and countless others.
Chet Sterling- Trained at the CWF Mid-Atlantic Dojo and having worked closely with tag team partner Trevor Lee, Chet is on the verge of making a splash nationally he just has to find the right platform and the “different one” will no longer be one of CWF’s best kept secret.
Anthony Henry- Talk about a well tuned machine, Anthony Henry’s dedication to his physical perfection is unmatched against indy wrestlers in this area and as a result of that he’s gone to battle with some of the best in the business improving his game every step of the way. Just beginning to extend his reach amongst other promotions, Henry could get the right eyes on him any day now and if given the opportunity will show why he is one of the best.
“Cauliflower” Chase Brown- Perhaps the most unique guys featured in this article, Chase Brown is like no other pro wrestler you’ll find, strumming his guitar, carrying his namesake stalk of fresh veggies to the ring and grappling much like past legends Frank Gotch, Lou Thesz and others. Chase Brown is also a part of the team Nuclear Kaasarole (with Peter Kaasa another great prospect who has just returned from injury) Brown & Kaasa shined bright in a recent ROH tryout match in NYC and could have big things just around the corner.

PWX ITV Title Match

Moose (c) def Ethan Case w/ Elijah Evans IV

The journey begins for the very successful and popular former PWX tag team champions Worst Case Scenario who have decided to pursue the singles ranks. The first big roadblock in their voyage came in the form of ROH superstar, former NFL superstar and new innovative television champion MOOSE! Elijah Evans IV accompanied Ethan Case to the ring but Case launched his attack (literally) with a suicide dive as the champion made his entrance. The more experienced half of WCS in 1 on 1 matchups tried to stay on Moose with kicks and strikes and managed some effective offense even before the bell rang to start the ten minute bout. Eventually the ROH top contender’s brute force presented problems, as Moose created enough space to unleash his brute strength offense hitting a tremendous jumping corner dropkick as the challenger was now in the defensive position absorbing the heavy blows of the ITV champion. Evans at ringside slapped the canvas and rallied his former partner and Case used the speed advantage and some dynamic offense to keep himself in the match. As the time ticked down and Case built up steam it was all halted with a booming spear and Moose retained in his first title defense. Post match Moose got on the mic and acknowledged he doesn’t usually do so but wanted to thank Worst Case Scenario for the impact they had on him being where he is today, as all three men shook hands.

#1MansOpinion: Add another excellent matchup to the history of the PWX Innovative Television Title division, a belt in the past by names like Cedric Alexander, Mr. Elite Drew Myers, Lance Lude, & Billy Brash it’s now Moose’s turn to face the onslaught of ten minute challenges from the best in the business. Ethan Case is perfectly suited for this type of his match as he can and did ramp his high energy sports entertaining as evidenced by the beautiful and daring suicide dive to kick off the match. It’s hard to be surprised by an athlete who has the chops to have once played in the National Football League but Moose accomplishes that with agility and a leaping ability that is astounding. You’d be hard pressed to find a more charismatic showman that the man on a “quest for contracts” Ethan Case who appears to have a great solo career ahead of him. Moose undeniably has the potential to be the longest reigning ITV champion in the title’s history and combating his perfect combination of size, power, and agility will be a task for any future challenger.

Anthony Henry w/ Amber Young def Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa made his return to PWX next and received a huge ovation while his opponent, a very changed man Anthony Henry strolled to the ring alongside the main reason for that transformation Amber Young. The problems between Henry & Young are well documented but the devious duo have again seemed to find their raucous rhythm still this would be another in a long, grueling test for Anthony Henry. As well known as the history between Henry and Young are the wreckless tendencies of The Sicilian Pyschopath Tommaso Ciampa, it didn’t take long for the fast and hectic pace expected to kick in and these two crazy men kept it there for the duration of the match. Ciampa controlled the early going delivering thunderous chops to Henry as the action spilled onto the floor, where Amber made the careless decision to try and stop the brutality against her man. Ciampa nearly made her pay dearly but Henry took advantage of the distraction to turn the tide of the match. It was Anthony Henry now delivering kicks and strikes, choking his opponent much to the delight of Amber Young. Their is no quit in crazy however as Ciampa fought back and the two exchanged strikes until Ciampa went for an “air raid crash” Henry slipped out and went to the top getting caught again but blocked a second air raid crash from the middle rope. Ciampa was frustrated and lookingВ  to end it so again he battled back hitting “Project Ciampa” but just as the referee went to count three it was Amber Young again inserting herself and saving the matchup by draping Henry’s leg across the bottom rope. Ciampa had seen enough and grabbed Young threatening to hit her with his devastating finisher but Henry caught him with a kick and an inverted implant DDT to pick up a big victory spoiling the return of Tommaso Ciampa.

#1MansOpinion: I’m going to start with what may be an unpopular opinion but as of this match I have yet to connect with “The Sicilian Pyschopath” I see the intensity, brutality and skill so it’s no slight is intended to the man or his commitment to his craft perhaps the old adage “to each his own” applies here. Anthony Henry has had more going on than perhaps any other star of PWX in the last year and a half a blood feud with John Skyler, relationship issues, and huge opportunities where he came up a bit short. The man once known as The 5 Star King has grown from each of those experiences and put on some attention grabbing performances. Putting all of these things aside Tommaso Ciampa and Anthony Henry left it all in the ring at Cabarrus Arena with a hard hitting, brutal back and forth battle that ramped up the intensity of the whole card to another level. Henry’s conditioning is second to none and serves him very well in the tough tests PWX is presenting him with, Say what you will about Ciampa (and I have) but the guy can inflict punishment of the highest degree while Henry proved he can withstand it and more importantly OVERCOME with offensive arsenal of high flying, strikes and innovative maneuvers I think it’s safe to say Anthony Henry is at his most dangerous and successful level right now. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the impact of Amber Young on the change of her man as this young lady’s importance, poise, and unique talents at ringside cannot be understated. The Psychopath from Sicily won me over a bit even in a losing effort and I am glad I get to see more of Ciampa for myself as he’ll return to PWX in August, perhaps with revenge against PWX’s Lethal Lovers on his mind.

The “THOROUGHBRED” Jaxson James def Elijah Evans IV w/ Ethan Case

Round two for the singles voyage of Worst Case Scenario in PWX. Elijah Evans IV much like his partner earlier in the night was given a tall task (literally and figuratively) in Jaxson James. Evans as you may know is tall with long limbs as well so this would be an interesting battle between two of PWX’s more towering athletes. Evans eased into this match much moreso than partner Ethan Case earlier in the night and it seemed James was looking to exploit that and ramp up the intensity early on, Evans responded and the two went back and forth but The THOROUGHBRED had more brutality and intensity and took over control of the match with a beautiful dropkick. James used his fists to prove most of his point and had the tag team specialist on the ropes and looked to finish it with “Satiety” (the pump handle finisher he’s won many matches with. It was Evans who had a surprise for his opponent and the fans in attendance. After slipping out and hitting a scissors kick, EEIV donned his best bandana (Daniel LaRusso) style and displayed some karate! That however wasn’t the last surprise of the match as moments later Jaxson James grabbed a handful of tights on a rollup (hiding it from the referee brilliantly)В  to get the win and leave WCS winless for the night.

#1MansOpinion: Two of PWX’s most towering talents had a big mountain to climb in the third match of the evening, one of the more unique on the card. The crowd admittedly seemed a little spent from the previous encounter and overall hot start of the show. Add to that the unfamiliar “scenario” of it being Elijah Evans IV’s first singles matchup and the mixed reaction to his opponent Jaxson James who is still trying to establish his identity within PWX and this match was not without it’s problems. Talent was NOT an issue as both men have proven themselves time and time again, and have athleticism to do big things. The fans enjoyed Evans feel good persona especially his “Karate Kid” routine complete with bandana, crane kick pose and martial arts display that went over very well. The THOROUGHBRED surprised many using a handful of tights to pick up the win, so surprising in fact that I think a lot of the already spent crowd may have missed the act altogether. Both did a fine job with the time they were given yet suffered from the placement of the match. If given the right opportunities in the future I have no doubt the two can prove themselves even further within PWX and beyond.

Best of 5- Match # 5- Last Man Standing

“The Black Cloud” Joe Black def “Do or Die” Chip Day to win the series & become # 1 contender to the PWX Heavyweight Championship

For the last 6 months no two members of the PWX roster have done battle the way Chip Day and Joe Black have. Beginning with their battles against the ITV champion, onto a 1 on 1 grudge match in February off of which PWX management made the decision to initiate the best of 5 between two of their most popular, hungry members and it all culminated in Concord at Superkick World. The last man standing stipulation and having to incapacitate your opponent for a 10 count guaranteed this one was going to get ugly and it did QUICK! The action spilled out of the ring and around the venue with strikes being dealt and heads being ran into concrete walls! When the action returned to the ring a table was introduced into the mix as The Black Cloud suplexed Chip Day onto it the referee only reached 6 before Day got do his feet and the war raged on. As it did Cedric Alexander strolled to ringside to check out the match even sitting front row for awhile but the former PWX champion stood at ringside to get an even closer look. Inside the war continued as it was very evident neither man wanted to come this far and not earn that final, ultimate victory. Day utilized his lightning quick, brutal strikes while Black relied heavily on devastating, backbreaking suplexes yet neither man would relent to the ten count and got up when no mere mortal would. In the end it was Joe Black following many, many suplexes prevailing in the phenomenal best of 5 series and earning a shot at PWX champion “The Southern Savior” John Skyler. Following the match Cedric Alexander approached a battered, apprehensive but still standing Chip Day shook his hand and whispered something which Day seemed confounded by. That story is developing but enough respect and congratulations cannot be given to these two warriors on an epic series for the ages.

#1MansOpinion: As expected there were many mixed emotions in this one exhilaration of the “sudden death” situation after a six month battle, wonder over the brutality the two men put themselves through and some disappointment that the war was coming to an end. I doubt I can express proper words to summarize this epic best of 5 but I’ll certainly do my best. Chip Day and Joe Black have fought and clawed for EVERYTHING they’ve gotten in the business and that battle continues for each warrior. To go out month after month and top what looked to be impossible to top is something that must be met with the highest regard. On this final match of the series the back and forth war of attrition that “The Black Cloud” and “Do or Die” pulled off left no other option, no matter the outcome than to make everyone watching look at them differently. Quite simply, Joe Black and Chip Day produced the best series of matches since Cedric Alexander’s Dream Series if you haven’t seen the matches seek them out it was an absolute pleasure to witness.

PWX Tag Team Titles Match

The Bravado Brothers (c) fought to a no contest with Trevor Lee & Andrew Everett

“Dem North Carolina Boys” returned to PWX following a brief run as the top team in PWG and were met with a tough task in perhaps the most dominant tag team in the Carolinas right now Harlem and Lancelot The Bravado Brothers. The Bravados were coming off their biggest win in PWX defeating Country Jacked less than a month earlier. Lee & Everett are no strangers to taking on elite tag teams and competing in big matches but it was the “home team” champs taking control of the match early on and frustrating the challengers with quick tags, their innovative tag team offense and a lot of momentum. The match broke down into a brawl and it was “The Carolina Caveman” Trevor Lee hitting a running punt to neutralize the tag champions and give the challengers the advantage. The “Apex of Agility” Andrew Everett employed his high octane brand of offense to maintain control of the match and nearly win he & Lee more tag gold but The Bravados are one of the more cohesive and experienced teams in the area and battled back isolating Everett in their corner and turned the tide yet again but the champions could not keep Everett down to retain the titles. Finally, Everett made the tag to a fresh Trevor Lee who took on both tag champions while his partner took a breather. Again Lee nearly made the reign of The Bravados a short one but the former champions Adam Page and Corey Hollis Country Jacked stormed the ring with bull ropes attacking the champions and tying Lancelot Bravado to the ring post. Page and Hollis bound Harlem in the middle of the ring, Hollis grabbed a mic addressing the incapacitated Bravados directly saying they “took” something from Country Jacked last month now they’re gonna take something from them and Page cut the goatee of Harlem with a Bowie knife!! Following the assault Country Jacked fled with the tag team titles and The Bravados were freed and understandably enraged. Before leaving the ring, Harlem used a few choice words to describe the former champions and said if they wanted a match all they had to was ask, but it’ll be on The Bravados terms in a STREET FIGHT!

#1MansOpinion: Amongst high profile names like The Young Bucks and The Addiction there is perhaps no more underrated tag team than Harlem & Lancelot The Bravado Brothers. The brothers have certainly been dominating in PWX leading up to just recently where they reached the pinnacle and gained the tag team titles.В  Grandma Bravado’s favorites bring a globe trotting resume with some of the most crisp, innovative tag team offense that is often overlooked but the gentlemen from Draper, NC are looking to change that. Conversely their opponents are just getting started and already building a reputation for being one of the most exciting, promising new tag teams in the world of professional wrestling. Trevor Lee & Andrew Everett provided an excellent mixture of high risk, high impact offense in this one to really give the champions a challenge and with a set of tag titles already to their credit once again proved that they are ready for any high profile matchup that comes their way.

Roderick Strong def Cedric Alexander

No strangers to one another both being a part of Ring of Honor Roderick Strong and Cedric Alexander added another exciting chapter to their history on July 12th. Alexander claims to be best in the world and certainly is one of the most decorated and successful in PWX history, once consider a “torch carrier” for the company Alexander has a new attitude that only makes him more dangerous. It had been quite some time since the man known as “Mr. ROH” and the current PWG champion Roderick Strong competed in a PWX ring, this was an instant classic in the making and didn’t disappoint. Alexander was very confident beginning the match screaming at Strong “You’re nowhere near as good as me!” Strong responded with vicious knife edge chops and the two brawled around the outside of the ring. Once they got established back in the ring a steady game of one upsmanship began with Cedric hitting precise, torpedo like kicks as Roddy responded by focusing on the back of Alexander and looking to hit the “sick kick” but Cedric had ideas of his own to hit the concussion on delivery (C.O.D.) and the battle resulted in more back and forth with neither being able to put the other away as this phenomenal match continued. That is until Strong hit the “Strong Breaker” and nearly ended it, but despite the referee counting three, Alexander did just kick out prior. This gave Cedric a last chance to hit the lumbar check but this time it was Strong kicking out at the last second and just a moment later Roddy connected with the sick kick and delivered a second Strong Breaker to pick up a big win in his return to PWX. Following the match with fans on their feet applauding the efforts of both men Strong offered a handshake which Alexander accepted as a little piece of the “code of honor” was displayed in Concord.

#1MansOpinion: It was a successful return to the Carolinas for the newly formed Mount Rushmore 2.0 and it all began with PWG champion Roderick Strong getting a big win over one of PWX’s biggest talents. As I said above this was another great chapter between two of Indy Wrestling’s best as Cedric Alexander never fails to put on a memorable match in PWX and he and Roddy went back and forth with brutal kicks, back breaking suplexes bringing the style and competitionВ  of ROH & PWG to the premiere promotion in the Carolinas. As expected “Mr. ROH” and “Kick 2 Kill” put on a show that could headline any show around the world.

Tessa Blachard def Kiera Hogan & Priscilla Kelly in a Triple Threat match

“Queen of the Carolinas” Tessa Blanchard has been devouring her opponents in PWX for over a year now and has an undefeated record to show for it. At SuperKick World the challenge would be intensified as Tessa had not one but two opponents to deal with. Those ladies were Kiera Hogan & Priscilla Kelly who are both parts of Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment and making their in ring debuts for PWX. Hogan has announced in the past but this was our first time seeing her in action. Of course Tessa never misses a chance to tell everyone just how great she is and upon her arrival to the ring she did just that, listing the talented women she’s beaten and belittling the two opponents she had in front of her. The bell rang and Kelly & Hogan tried to work together against their common enemy. The duo got some offense in but once again Tessa was unstoppable just as she said she’d be and made short work of Hogan & Kelly. Seconds after her match Tessa bragged that there is no one who can beat her, she then called Cedric Alexander’s wife (Kris Kelly) out and Kelly hit the ring and took over! Kelly said she’s listened to the bragging long enough, she’s much more than “Cedric’s wife” and warned Tessa to be careful what you wish for. The two new rivals got nose and an unofficial match was made for August 16 when PWX returns to Hickory.

#1MansOpinion: The Queen of the Carolinas has had her share of tough challenges in PWX passing everyone with flying colors. No disrespect intended but the less experienced young ladies of Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment were outmatched pretty heavily in this one as Tessa notched another quick win to remain unbeaten. The story of this match was the combustible situation afterwards between Tessa and the wife of Cedric Alexander (Aerial Monroe/Kris Kelly) Blanchard has been seeking the best competition and she may have found her answer in the young, fiery wife of Cedric Alexander. Their is a lot of potential in the feud between these two and I look forward to seeing how it plays out.

The Young Bucks def The Revolt

Before Sunday it had been about four months since the best tag team in the world debuted in PWX. On that night in February, Nick and Matt Jackson did battle with three of the best tag teams in PWX history. The debut was highly successfulВ  at the gimmick table, with the fans,in every aspect except winning their match. A lot has changed in those months, the presence of Caleb Konley & Zane Riley The Revolt has strengthened considerably in their mission to rid PWX of evil and give the company back to the fans and athletes who helped build it. The team has also been very successful inside the ring in that time while it’s well documented that the current IWGP Jr. & PWG Tag Team Champions are no strangers to wins either so this main event was indeed a blockbuster. The capacity crowd in Concord was pretty split and it was as hard to ignore the abundance of Young Bucks memorabilia & t-shirts as it was the supporters for Zane and Caleb. The very talented former PWX champion, Konley held his own early on amongst the high energy offense of the brothers Jackson and Zane hit a big dive to the outside as both members of The Revolt kept in lock step with their opponents. Riley tagged in and out but it was the speedier Konley who battled the Bucks to the mid way point where Nick and Matt turned the ride with their unique, trademark offense which as you may know included lots of super kicks!! Riley eventually got the tag and hit his trademark cannonball followed by a middle rope “Belushi Driver” for a near fall. Moments later Konley hit cradle shock again nearly dropping The Bucks to 0-2 in PWX competition. A winless record in any promotion for a team of that caliber is a tough task and The decorated champions stopped Zane with a double Superkick as he went for a corner splash, then pulled off their coupe de grace the “Meltzer Driver” on Konley to get the victory and ensure their second (and certainly not last) trip to North Carolina was successful all the way around. No sooner than the three had been counted chants of “Losers!” began over the sound system and they were coming from Sr. Vice President of Talent Relations The Tommy Thomas. The tried and true company man strolled to the ring still goadingВ  Caleb and Zane with jeers but as he went to get in the ring The Young Bucks accomplished a rare feat reloading and hitting him with a head shaking, spectacle breaking double Superkick to shut the loud mouth of the smarmy “yes man”. Thomas laid motionless but the double Superkick did not spell the end for him, Konley grabbed the napping corporate stooge and went to deliver the rope assisted pile driver (made famous by The Revolt’s pal Jake Manning) but PWX owner Brian Kanabroski hit the ring and warned his former champion he’d be suspended if he followed through. Konley is at the forefront of a movement called The Revolt afterall so he not so politely took his boss’ warning and promptly planted Thomas headfirst into the mat to end the show.

#1MansOpinion: What does PWX do for an encore? Following heated championship matches, a back and forth battle between two of the best in the world and two absolute wars that left the live crowd spent, they put on a tag team main event worth of headlining any internet ppv across the US. The Young Bucks were just as exciting, and dynamic in this matchup as they are week in and week out all across the world. It was Caleb Konley (who has battled the brothers a few times) and Zane Riley who really impressed even in a losing effort. Konley continues to prove that he is one of the best unsigned talents in professional wrestling and Riley who is always entertaining is breaking out of the “comedic bubble” and showing he can hang in with the best of the best.

#1MansFINALOpinion: I can’t stress enough that Concord is the place to be for PWX as SuperKick World was a success in every sense of the word. 79% of the crowd were new to the product and they were treated to outstanding performances and tremendous excitement throughout the night that is guaranteed to make the majority of those fans eager to experience PWX live again as soon as possible. The rise of Joe Black has been very exciting to witness as he & Chip Day have done something truly special. In spite of a changing landscape guys like Caleb Konley and Cedric Alexander continue to turn out phenomenal performances while Anthony Henry, Ethan Case, and Jaxson James look to follow them in carving out their place amongst the promotion. Noticeably missing in the evolving promotion are formerly integral and in some cases wildly popular stars like two time ITV champion Billy Brash, Mr. Elite Drew Myers, Mason Maddox, and the injured Lance Lude to name a few and even in an action packed, top notch show you can’t help but miss their presence and a little of the “old school” PWX feel. The fact remains that Premiere Wrestling Xperience continues to shine amongst the top indies in the country as well as be a desirable destination that many of the top stars in the sport want to share the spotlight in. I’ve been a staunch advocate of the promotion for many years and still highly recommend it to anyone looking for the best shows in pro wrestling.

Aug PWX Too Close For Comfort

PWX returns to Hickory with ‘Too Close for Comfort’ an exclusive, limited seating event on August 16th at Main Cellar City Club and plenty of questions are yet to be answered. What is the future of The Revolt if Caleb Konley is indeed suspended? Can Joe Black parlay his best of 5 series win into the biggest win of his career and become PWX Heavyweight Champion? Has Tessa Blanchard finally bitten off more than she can chew? Where do the dastardly duo of Anthony Henry and Amber Young take their new cutthroat attitude? Two debuts and one return have already been announced for the next big event with the exotic, unusual ROH star Dalton Castle, former WWE superstar and current ROH standout Matt Sydal, and the retirement tour of Chuck Taylor passes through Hickory and PWX for maybe the last time, all are set to take part in this huge upcoming event. Keep your eyes on the official PWX website, follow me @The1andonlyJer and them @PWXWrestling on twitter, like the PWX Facebook page, as well as join the ‘Too Close for Comfort’ event page for all the latest.

PWX returned to Hickory on March 21st and were greeted with another long line of the most eager, and passionate fans awaiting to see what was in store for them at ‘Enemy Territory’. Former WWE Superstars PJ Black fka Justin Gabriel & Brian Myers fka Curt Hawkins made their PWX debuts alongside The Revolt! (Caleb Konley & Zane Riley) “The Southern Savior” John Skyler, PWX Champion Cedric Alexander, Worst Case Scenario, The Bravado Brothers and many more of our mult-talented roster. Shots were fired in the tug of war between The Revolt and PWX Management, and a new # 1 contender to the PWX Championship was crowned in a stellar main event as the fans of Hickory were treated to another tremendous night of pro wrestling.

Worst Case Scenario (Ethan Case & Elijah Evans IV) def Timmy Lou Retton & Mickey Gambino
The longest reigning PWX tag team champions were in action for the first time since parting ways with their long time client manager THE Tommy Thomas and were given the challenge of a brand new tag team. Retton & Gambino had previously been seen in singles & 8 man tag action but teamed up for an impressive tag team debut in Hickory, the team held their own with one of PWX’s best teams isolating Ethan Case and making the match 2 on 1 for much of the contest. There were some hiccups as the first time tag team tried to get on the same page and when you face a team as cohesive and well oiled as Evans & Case you must be almost perfect to get the victory. The PWI Ultra J Champion Ethan Case was resilient as always and fired back on his opponents despite taking much of the offense in the match. Elijah Evans IV was tremendous once Case made the tag hitting a double clothesline, high arching drop kick and his patented “Blue Thunder Bomb”. Worst Case Scenario hit the assisted uppercut KO on Retton to foil a valiant effort by the newly formed tag team.

Mr. Elite Drew Meyers def Mason Maddox
Meyers came out in dockers, a blazer and boat shoes rather than his usual ring attire but he didn’t forget to bring his unwavering confidence in himself. Meyers is never at a loss for nice things to say…about himself at least as he berated the crowd and stroked his own ego before Mason Maddox hit the ring for his second match with PWX Wrestling. Maddox looked good here as he continues to make his name in PWX, the young man has all the tools and looks to be coming along well in developing them, Maddox hit a beautiful dropkick on the former ITV champion and controlled the match early on. For all his bravado and conceit,В  Mr Elite is far from a slouch in the ring and was just too much on this night for the young Mason Maddox. Myers used his mat wrestling skills and picture perfect suplexes and throws in route to picking up the win with a bridging german suplex.

Amber Young came to the ring and called out her former boyfriend Anthony Henry. The scorned Amber told Henry that she used to be the most precious thing in the world to him and now wrestling was. Amber left the ringside area as Henry stood there bewildered.

Best of 5 Series
“Do or Die” Chip Day (0-1) defВ  “The Black Cloud” Joe Black (1-0)
On the heels of their great opener from PWX’s 10th anniversary Ippv ‘Rise of a Champion X’ the management at PWX made the decision to institute a Best of 5 series between these two evenly matched competitors. Joe Black got the victory back in February so he entered the matchup with a 1 match lead, perhaps being down a match was all the motivation Chip Day neeeded as he came into the meeting in Hickory fired up. Day & Black engaged in a battle of strikes and one upsmanship that could’ve gone either way with Black looking like he’d extend his lead in the series but Chip Day managed to kick out of everything Joe threw at him and avoid the lethal lariat that put him away one month prior. in the end it was Chip Day who got the three count to even the series at 1 match a piece as the crowd showed their respect to each of man. There is a lot of business to be settled yet between Joe Black & Chip Day.

PWX Innovative Television Title Match
Lance Lude def (c)В  ‘Son of the South’ Billy Brash w/ Dany Only by DQ
The Innovative Teleivison Champion hit the ring with his new running mate, ‘The Human Hand Grenade’ Dany Only. Brash boasted about defeating “the best big man in wrestling” Moose the previous month and continued to tout his title reign (which is now over 6 months long) but The Son of the South was interrupted by the man he defeated for that championship, the returning LANCE LUDE! The crowd erupted for the return and Lude wasted no time in going right at the champion with kicks, dives and high energy, speedy offense nearly regaining the championship in no time but Brash stopped the momentum of Lude, grounding him and using his roughneck style offense to punish his adversary. Dany Only also played a big role once again using every opportunity to inject himself into the action distracting Lude, choking him and eventually helping Brash walk away with the ITV title still around his waist. Lude locked in the ‘Cristo’ and seemed to have the champion beaten but Only broke up the hold. Lude won the match via disqualification but Brash remains champion and he & Only had the last words with Only package piledriving Lude and The Son of the South hitting the “Mason-Dixon Line” before they left celebrating their “win”.

PWX Heavyweight Title Match
Cedric Alexander (c) def Zane Riley
Zane made his entrance in ‘Manscout’ Jake Manning’s singlet, we’ve seen several homages to Manning from The Revolt in recent months and as Zane was addressing the crowd as to the mision of The Revolt he was interrupted by the PWX Champion. Alexander proposed that this match needed to happen and offered to put the title on the line and we were off! The champion attacked immediately as there is no love lost between Cedric and The Revolt, Alexander has been one of the main targets of their gripes about PWX over the last few months and Alexander prefers to settle those debates in the middle of the ring. Riley, who is synonomous with fun, light hearted matches was invovled in something totatlly different at Enemy Territory, a FIGHT, a FIGHT with one of the most talented men in independent wrestling, and a FIGHT for the PWX Championship! a title that The Revolt would love to have control of as they push their agenda to the masses. Zane hung with the champion move for move here and kept himself in the fight, it was a wild back and forth, high intensity matchup with a WILD finish. Riley got a rollup on the champion but PWX Owner (and Public Enemy #1 to The Revolt) Brian Kanabroski was arguing with Sr. Referee Mitch Blalock causing him to miss the pinfall and Cedric recovered hitting the brain buster to retain the title.

‘The Prince of Queens’ Brian Myers def ‘The 5 Star King’В  Anthony Henry
‘The Prince of Queens’ Brian Myers debuted for PWX against a man who has been through physical and emotional hell the last 9 months. Anthony Henry had battled John Skyler month in and month out over the last year and was still feeling effects of that war as he was presented with one of the biggest matches of his career against a former WWE superstar. Henry answered the call and gave Myers everything he had, taking what Myers dished back and showing that he hasn’t lost his fight and desire to be counted amongst the best in the southeast. Henry seemed like he might have the match won and himself back on track but Amber Young appeared at ringside, Henry jumped down from the top rope questioning her and she kissed him and jumped down from the ring, as Henry tried to figure out the turn of events he was hit with a spear and Brian Myers picked up the win in his PWX debut. Amber, once again left Anthony Henry alone in the ring.

Triple Threat #1 Contender’s Main Event
Caleb Konley vs “Darewolf” PJ Black vs “The Southern Savior” John Skyler
Three very different men, all with the same goal met in the huge main event of ‘Enemy Territory’. Caleb Konley, the longest reigning PWX champion in history and a man who desperately wants to restore PWX to it’s “former glory”, “The Southern Savior” John Skyler, who believes he has been overlooked as a contender to the title and is stepping up to get what he rightly deserves, and PJ Black the former WWE superstar formerly known as Justin Gabriel making his PWX debut and readjusting to life in independent wrestling wants to wrestle the best and prove he is the best. Combine all these elements and the desire of each competitor to advance to the PWX championship match and you get an outstanding, evenly matched, and hard fought main event. None of the three men seemed to get along so it was every man for himself from start to finish, Konley who knows exactly what it takes to be PWX champion was impressive and nearly earned himself another shot at PWX Champion Cedric Alexander. Skyler proved that the preaching he does is in fact the truth as he showed he deserves to be in the high profile matches and cannot be denied as a serious contender to the PWX gold. PJ Black was the X factor in this match and perhaps that worked to his advantage, most in attendance had seen what he had to offer in WWE but that was just a small dose of what he’s capable of as he unleashed an aerial assault, some innovative offense and toughness we weren’t able to see in his time with WWE. Skyler & Konley eventually grounded Black tying him up in the corner and going 1 on 1, but as they went for a superplex PJ pulled himelf up and german suplexed both men off in a tremendous moment of the match! Again at the end of the match it was Skyler vs Konley in the middle of the ring Konley looked to have the win but The “Darewolf” recovered again hitting a springboard 450 on both men, pinning Skyler to win the match and become #1 contender to the PWX Heavyweight Championship.

PureMarchPoster

For many years, PWX has run some of the best indy wrestling shows across the southeast but it had been some time since they had been in Charlotte, NC so when ‘Pure’ began developing, a show centered around in ring performance, wins and losses and proving you can hang with the best in the business, Charlotte seemed like the perfect place to host the first event of it’s kind. Wrestling fans had been requesting a ‘return home’ for quite some time and on March 22nd we delivered and once again fans packed the house for PWX: Pure ‘The Return Home’.

Zane Riley kicks off the show and talks about the concept of ‘Pure’ he says it’s a place where young guys, guys the PWX fan base may not be aware of to come and prove they belong, but it’s also an opportunity for those who have been around to prove they STILL belong and he wants to be first to prove that he does. Riley issues an open challenge which is quickly answered by his former tag team partner Lance Lude!!

Zane Riley & Lance Lude wrestled to a 10 minute time limit draw
There isВ  no love lost between these two former friends and partners, Riley turned on Lude and soon after joined The Revolt in what was to be a celebration of his last match with PWX, Lude was left laying in the ring and now he was back and quick to get a measure of revenge. Lude is always full throttle when in the ring and this was no exception as he brought the battle right to Riley but these are two men who are very familiar with one another and Riley slowed the match down and used his size and strength to slow his former partner down. In the end neither man could get the best of his former friend and the time limit expired but not before both men accomplished what they set out to, PROVE THEY BELONG. After the match, Riley extended his hand to Lude perhaps trying to bury the hatchet, more likely trying to expand the ranks of The Revolt but Lude had the last word hitting the “Lude Awakening” this time leaving Riley laying in the middle of the ring.

Mason Myles def Alex Kai
Two newcomers to PWX got exactly the opportunity that Pure was created to offer next as Mason Myles took on Alex Kai. Both young men made good cases for themselves in this match and Myles gained a good bit of support from the PWX faithful cheering him on. This was an evenly matched contest and Kai’s mean streak almost earned him the victory but he was also a bit cocky and focused on the crowd allowing the more focused competitor Mason Myles to pick up a big victory and perhaps secure himself a return to compete again for PWX in the future.

Mr. Elite Drew Meyers def “The Crown Jewel” Chase Owens
Mr. Elite came out even more boastful than normal, Meyers told the crowd that he got back on track and snapped his losing streak in Hickory the night before but he was just getting started. Drew went on to say when he wins tonight that’ll be two in a row and he’ll start what will be the longest winning streak in PWX history. One of the best Jr. Heavyweights in professional wrestling stood in Meyers way, Chase Owens is a world traveled veteran who regularly competes in Japan and like Drew Meyers was a collegiate wrestler. This would be a stiff test for Mr. Elite but he is no stranger to such tests having battled Eddie Edwards, Cedric Alexander and former TNA Champion Magnus in the past. As expected this was a battle of positioning and amateur wrestling for the most part with both men looking very impressive, Meyers got in a couple of cheap shots but Owens persisted and countered or kicked out of nearly everything his opponent threw at him. The Crown Jewel went for his package piledriver but Meyers had it scouted and was able to avoid it and after several attempts earlier in the match, Mr. Elite hit hisВ  finisher, the bridging german suplex to pick up the huge victory and start the winning streak he prophesied earlier.

Worst Case Scenario (Elijah Evans IV & Ethan Case) def James Drake & Kid Chaos
The longest reigning tag champs in PWX history were thrown another new tag team to PWX at Pure in Charlotte. “The Enforcer” James Drake, a long time veteran of the independent scene and his young tag partner Kid Chaos. The fan favorite team of Ethan Case & Elijah Evans IV were tested in this one but managed to rise to the occasion once again and pick up the victory. Evans & Case are making themselves known as perennial contenders to get the PWX tag titles back and took one more step towards doing so in this one even without their former client manager THE Tommy Thomas. No disrespect to Worst Case Scenario, but the story in this match was the newcomers to PWX. Drake is a ring general and remained in full control of the action from bell to bell, keeping his partner on task and ensuring a memorable debut. Kid Chaos was lighting quick and dazzled the PWX faithful with his high flying. Chaos & Drake were given some of the best competition PWX has to offer and though they fell short, the two men were left with a “Please Come Back!” chant and the satisfaction that they rose to, superseded, and personfied the ‘Pure’ way of thinking.

“The THOROUGHBRED” Jaxson James def “The Prince of Queens” Brian Myers
This was a match that was a long time coming as the former WWE Superstar (known then as Curt Hawkins) faced a man who may well be on his way to that level in Jaxson James. Myers was accompanied to the ring in Charlotte by a manager who ended up doing less to help and more to hurt Myers. Put that together with the brute force and athleticism of James, a former collegiate football player and genuine THOROUGHBRED and Jaxson James picked up one of the bigger wins of his career. Myers showed that he has a lot of tricks left to reveal from his WWE days and nearly hit his finisher the spear on a few occasions but James was able to avoid it and take advantage of some follies from Myers’ manager as well as overcome a few double teams to pick up the victory and continue the momentum he is building in PWX.

Caleb Konley def “The Southern Savior” John Skyler
Both of these men had something to prove in Charlotte having fallen just a bit short in an excellent main event the previous night. It was a given that PWX management would be watching this matchup closely to determine a contender to face whomever came out of the event as PWX champion, and it that fact was very clear at the finish of this excellent one on one matchup. Skyler refused an offer by Konley and Zane Riley to join the Revolt before the match, hitting the ‘Saving Grace’ on Zane as PWX management had Riley escorted from the venue and the match was on. Konley attacked Skyler and got the advantage early but couldn’t find a way to put his opponent down for the 3 count as Skyler battled back. The match continued to seesaw with neither man gaining a decisive advantage and eventually the action spilled onto the floor and devolved into a brawl. At that point the Owner of PWX Brian Kanabroski came back to ringside barking orders at Skyler who quickly shrugged off the boss and went to try and finish his opponent off, Kanabroski then got on the ring apron apparently in an attempt to further disrupt the matchup and as The Southern Savior took exception to that he turned around into an inside cradle and Caleb Konley scored the pinfall.

Tessa Blanchard def Kacee Carlisle
The Queen of the Carolinas has been appealing, even begging and harassing PWX management for months to bring in stiffer competition and they have obliged yet Tessa remains unbeaten inside a PWX ring. On this Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, NC in front of her father in-law, the legendary Magnum TA her opponent was the current Valkyrie Women’s champion Kacee Carlisle. As usual, Tessa grabbed a mic and prodded the fans at ringside as well as her opponent but Carisle rushed the ring attacking Blanchard and the fight was on! This was one of the hardest hiting, most brutal and out of control women’s matches in recent memory at PWX. These two ladies went at it inside the ring, took the action outside of the ring ramming each other into the steel ring posts while yelling and screaming, this was an intense matchup. The two finally made it back into the ring and jockeyed for position but it was Tessa who hit a sprinboard bulldog to pick up the win and remain undefeated in PWX.

The Bravado Brothers def Timmy Lou Retton & Mickey Gambino
The Bravado Bandwagon rolled back into PWX and Harlem & Lancelot were met with Timmy Lou Retton and Mickey Gambino, the two teamed for the first time the previous night and had an impressive showing so much so they were now referring to themselves as Wrestling’s Best Kept Secret! WBKS were in for another tough challenge in their short career with the world traveled Bravados, who are another team that have been in pursuit of the PWX tag titles for well over a year now. Gambino & Retton were impressive once again yet showed a few hiccups as it seemed Retton was not on the same page with Gambino more than once which angered the veteran Gambino, at one point Mickey tried a “mock tag” behind the referee’s back and when questioned whether or not a tag was made Retton simply told the truth and enraged his partner. The Bravados are seasoned pros who could work as well as they do together now if they were wearing blindfolds, the brothers took advantage of every rookie mistake their opponents made and picked up the win with ‘The Gentleman’s Agreement’. In the end these two tests against four of the best PWX has to offer should sharpen the teamwork of Wrestling’s Best Kept Secret, and as good as they already are that could wind up widening the competition for the PWX tag team titles even more.

Adam Page def ‘The 5 Star King’ Anthony Henry
Anthony Henry was once again looking to find some success in the singles ranks of PWX after being in a bitter feud over the last ten months, on this night he was met with ROH star and 1/2 of the PWX tag team champions Adam Page. Page hasn’t had many singles matches over the last sixteen months since changing his ways and forming Country Jacked with Corey Hollis. Henry had another excellent showing here but was met with an equally impressive showing by Page and some more bad luck involving his former girlfriend Amber Young. Henry looked to have a huge win in the bag on a couple of occasions but Amber was again drawn to the ring and in turn Henry was drawn to his former love, whom he again tried to get answers from but after not receiving any he tried to send her away and refocus on the match. Henry climbed to the top rope but was caught by Page who delivered the “PlowDriver” to pick up the win as Amber Young cost Anthony Henry once again.

PWX Heavyweight Championship
Cedric Alexander (c) def “DareWolf” PJ Black
Main Event Time in Charlotte! A city that has hosted championship matches involving legends like Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Dusty Rhodes and countless others and on Sunday afternoon for Premiere Wrestling Xperience, Cedric Alexander revisited his famed “Dream Match Series” defending his title against PJ Black (fka Justin Gabriel) a man who recently left WWE. Black outlasted two of PWX’s best the night before to earn this shot and came to Charlotte with gold on his mind, but the volatile, devil may care champion Cedric Alexander no matter your personal thoughts about him is one of the best on the indepedent scene today and no stepping stone, the result of these two meeting was another fantastic championship main event to add to the historic legacy of the Queen City. PJ Black was beyond ready for the talents of the reigning & defending PWX champion and looked to have the title within his grasp a number of times, The Darewolf launched a mixture of aerial assault and quick strikes that were met by the champion with innovative offense, back breaking suplexes and some brawling on the cold, hard floor of the venue. In the end, Black attempted one more aerial maneuver but was caught with a lumbar check but it still was not enough as PJ Black fought back, the champion responded and finally hit the Brain Buster to finish off Black and remain PWX Heavyweight Champion.

Henry then curb stomped The Southern Savior and left the ring as Amber seemed to enjoy what she saw.
