Smackdown is War
So I don't remember anticipating Smackdown this eagerly in a loooooooooong time. Coming out of an extremely controversial Royal Rumble. I do not want to spend much time on the outcome, because it is what it is what it is and I have moved on from it. I think Triple H summed up everyone's feeling when he said…."Man that triple threat was one of the best matches I have ever seen in my life." I have heard so many people say this over the past few days. Because as badly as that Rumble match was booked, the WWE delivered this amazing match, and almost everything is forgiven. At the end of the day that's all we want- amazing matches telling amazing stories with hard working passionate guys who have earned their spot.
Coming into this episode of Smackdown, the first real TV produced since Royal Rumble, there are so many questions to be answered. How will the WWE Universe respond to Roman Reigns? What's next for Daniel Bryan? How will John Cena respond to Rusev? I am sure at least one of these questions will be answered.
Opening Segment
So Triple H is feuding with the weather? Hunter is in fine form tonight bringing the majority of the world up to speed on why we didn't see a live episode of Raw on Monday. He also comments on Deflategate telling us that WWE loves balls. Triple H is in 2009 era comedy mode, reminding us that no matter how evil he is he can still break the 4th wall and deliver some great one liners. Triple H's comedy act works really well when we don't see it often. He even teases a BIG announcement for Raw.
H comes right out with it and acknowledges that the fans were not happy with the outcome of the Royal Rumble. This brings out The Vest in the World to a mixed reaction. Well not really a mixed reaction, sort of like… no reaction. Not good. A chorus of boos would have been at least some reaction. Say what you want about Cena, but you can feel the electricity when he enters an arena. Always to a reaction by the way. We get preview of the next few months as Reigns goes toe to toe with someone far superior on the mic. Man Paul Heyman is gonna eat this guy alive.
Roman Reigns vs Big Show
Ok… why the hell was Roman Reigns upside down for 1/3 of this match? What the hell was that??? I have never seen Big Show, or anyone, do that upside calve lock. Ok… moving on. This was a smart move though. Roman Reigns needed to come out swinging tonight… he sort of did? I am not sure if Big Show was the best possible opponent. Roman should have went out there and put on a really great match with someone like… Cesaro or Wade Barrett. Someone that could have at least made Reigns look really credible and good. Not taking anything away from Big Show, but his slow plodding style does nothing for Reigns' explosive offense. That Superman punch is pretty over though, can't deny that.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Hall of Fame announcement-
Paige won this video package. I love Paige. I am happy Arnold is going in, although he is only loosely tied to WWE. He hit Triple H once, that's what qualifies you for the Rumble. Remember when he was on Smackdown promoting End of Days? He was rocking that cool beard. End of Days had a pretty good soundtrack.
John Cena/Rusev Segment
You want to know why John Cena is in his words The Face That Runs This Place (awesome btw!)? Because of promos like this one. HOT DAMN! Cena was on fire harkening back to his Thuganomics gimmick! Rusev started out complaining about the Rumble ending with some impressive mic skills of his own. Cena hit the ring with a head of steam and got some great verbal jabs in about pubes and boobs. If this is a preview of this feud, sign me up!!!! This one segment alone got me super excited for this match/matches. That's how your top guy is supposed to handle himself on the mic.
Renee Young is my celebrity crush. So is Paige. They should be my friends…also the Bellas….
The Ascension mid entrance promo sold me on this team for the first time since they joined the main roster. Such a simple easy way to get them over. The early 90s style promo was a perfect balance of tongue in cheek goofiness and honest intimidation. Many lolz for "Olddust".
I like that the Dust Brothers gimmick is that Stardust is now too weird even for Goldust. Cody is golden, no pun intended.
Daniel Bryan vs Kane in a Casket Match
Concessions Kane comes out first. Daniel Bryan follows to a MASSIVE pop. Michael Cole reminds us that Bryan has never been in a casket match. Thanks Cole. Bryan and Kane have pretty good chemistry, but by now I am a little tired of this match. Hopefully this is the last of their series.
The match starts off with Bryan coming out strong. His Yes Kicks connect to the joy of the Hartford crowd. Kane takes control by the time of the first commercial break and Bryan has already been wrestling longer than he was in the Rumble.
After the commercial break we get a few casket teases. It is at this time that I realize this HAS to be the first casket match ever on Smackdown. No hyperbole here- I could watch Bryan wrestle all day. I know I said it before but it seems Bryan hasn't changed his offense at all. I just hope he is 100%. Because if it turns out he came back too early, and he gets another injury, for literally no reason, that would suck. I am confident that there is solid plan for Bryan, but was it a plan that could have waited until after the Royal Rumble? We may not know yet, but fingers crossed. If he continues to deliver excellent matches like this one than I am fine with it. This was probably the 2nd best casket match of all time (HBK Taker will always be number 1). Lots of fun spots, including the multiple casket teases, the Yes Lock in the casket, and Bryan delivering the Knee Plus to Kane on the ropes. The final image of Bryan standing on the casket while the ENTIRE arena chanted Yes was a cool ending to a really great match.
Overall Smackdown produced another solid outing. Between great mic work from Cena and Triple H, fun backstage segments (yo R Truth loves magic), and the 2nd best match of the week as the main event, Smackdown was a must watch this week. A really great 2 hours of TV. The WWE had 3 days to plan this show, and it was overall very well put together. You could tell they were saving most of the big moments for Monday, including Triple H's Earth shattering announcement. The image of Bryan standing tall yet again on an episode of Smackdown once again proves my point that WWE could benefit HUGE from another brand split.

And… Here… We… GO!
Opening Video. Crowd Chants and general merriment and revelry.
IN RING!
Tyson Kidd's music hits and out comes Nattie's Husband. We go to the announce table with Rich, Riley, and Renee. They hype the move to Wednesday. Balor is out next. Damn Finn does theatricality so well. Crowd Chants "FINN". Bell RINGS. Huge Drop Kick to start. Finn goes for the double stomp already, but Kidd gets outta dodge. Fast and furious open. Nasty chop drops Kidd. Running hang time drop kick into the corner on the seated Tyson. Kidd sidesteps a baseball slide dropkick on the outside and then drives Finn into the barricade. Tide = TURNED!!! They cut away like it was for a commercial, and then come back right after it… that… was… odd. Production SNAFU? Kidd still in control. Takes Balor to the Tree of Woe. (NOT to be confused with WHOA)
Over Under 4.5 people who get that joke.
Between 8-12 people chant "LETS GO TYSON" rest of the crowd answers "LETS GO FINN!" Pele kick stops Kidd's onslaught. Finn on the offensive. Kicks Kidd off the top rope. Follows up with a lovely somersault plancha over the top rope. Kidd ends up dragon screw leg whipping Finn and using the top rope for added damage. Then nails a kick from the apron. Sharpshooter. A premature "This is awesome" chant. Don't get me wrong this is very good. Probably the best match we've seen in the WWE this week. Finn hits a lifting reverse DDT type move, and finishes off Kidd with the double stomp off the top rope.
Back to the three R's (Riley, Rich, and Renee, if you missed me name them a paragraph ago.) Hype machine for Neville/Zayn. They throw to a hype video. Recapping the two men's awesome title match. Also Women's tag match AND… whoa… what? Baron and Bull TONIGHT?!?! Brief editorial. I can't imagine this is decisive. I figured the first time we'd see these two face off would have been a special. The mention of Bull vs Baron sends us…
BACKSTAGE!
Bull Dempsey is interviewed. Says Baron is gonna be looking up at the last of a dying breed, and all he's going to hear is "BULL! BULL! BULL!"
IN RING!
Motorcycles rev. Spotlights at the Ramp. Corbin's here. BULL! BULL! BULL! I'm thinking SLOBBERKNOCKER (TM) JR. Bell Rings. Crowd counts. And lets brawl away. Shots are exchanged. Baron is going for something Bull ducks and runs. Bull gets an advantage, and tries to hit the diving headbutt, but he eats canvas. Then an IMPRESSIVE End of Days from Corbin gets him an impressive win. I expected this match from these two… just not this soon. Interested to see if Bull comes back at Baron, or if they want to move Baron up the ladder. That was surprising because I didn't realize the match was happening, and when I heard about it, I figured some sort of screwy ending. Countout, DQ, or some such nonsense.
IN RING!
Team BAE is out. (This might be the only way you'll ever get me to type/acknowledge those three letters in that sequence.) BAE stands for Best At Everything, in case you were wondering. Becky Lynch head banging and violently swinging her hair around to Sasha's music is a strange combo. Charlotte and Nattie are out next. Nattie and Becky start. Technical start. Holds exchanged. Renee says Becky and Nattie tagged in Japan 9 years ago. #Knowledge. See what announcers can do to ADD to your product Vince? LOL… like Vince watches this. Stereo baseball drop kicks. Double team stall vertical suplex. Good double team work from Nattie/Charlotte. Banks gets the tides changed. Dominates for a spell before a hot tag to Charlotte. The final exchange sees Banks hitting a neck breaker and scoring a pinfall with a fistful of tights.
She still has THIS, though.
Looks like these two are not through with each other. That works for me, but they do need to start building the women's undercard. Charlotte and Banks are clearly at another level compared to the rest of the roster. Then you have Lynch and Bailey. Then it really drops. Minus Blue Pants. Blue Pants is on the RISE!
IN RING!
Main Event Time and looking at my watch we have a helluva main event in store with these two. Neville out first. And out comes OUR Band Leader (Remember I play a mean lead Triangle for the Zayniacs) – Cool logo up on the Tron for Sami's entrance video the NXT Championship with the "SZ" done up where they're mirror images, like the back of his t-shirt. Slow to start. Feeling out process. Some quick exchanges. A big arm drag from Neville. Announcers again adding to the early part of the match. Setting the scene. Questioning Sami's health, and putting over both men's intensity and focus in the early stages. Pace picks up and concludes with Neville shoving Zayn out of frustration. Neville takes a pause and throws up his hands realizing his emotion got the better of him, and says "Sorry". Sami answers with a violent forearm. The two exchange forearms. Neville gets the advantage with his kicks (I assume years of Footballing in England has honed those feet.) Sami scores a near pinfall with a high cross body off the top. Just as Sami is about to get rolling Neville snaps off a SUPERB snap, high velocity, hurricanrana. We go back and forth. Sami gets a near fall with the Blue Thunder Bomb. Rolling Germans into the half and half, but Neville lands on his feet and makes sure Sami eats a forearm. Neville ends up on Zayn's shoulders and another NASTY high velocity snap hurricanrana.
THAT one looked bad. Sami looked like he went forehead first into the mat. Neville and the ref follow up with my worries by checking on Sami, saying he'll stop the match. Zayn says don't stop the match. Sami nearly gets Neville into the Koji Clutch. He then kind of stumbles and taunts Neville a bit, and this is either brilliant or he's legit concussed. Sami hits the half and half suplex, and Neville ends up outside. Sami goes for the through the ropes tornado DDT on the outside… NOPE! Eats a super kick! This match is really hitting its boil, now. Neville goes for a Red Arrow, Sami rolls. Sami goes for the Heluva Kick, Neville counters into a roll up and a 2.74 count! Zayn kicks out. Both up. Neville charges, and exploder into the turnbuckles. Heluva Kick! That's the ball game. Excellent match. I could watch these two wrestle weekly. So talented the journey story of each match is different. Riley calls Sami "NXT's Rocky Balboa". Not the worst comparison.
Announcers recapping the match. Music playing. Owens is out. Pop up power bomb, and now Owens is standing on Sami's neck. He kicks the belt dismissively towards Sami. Continues to stare down Sami as he walks out and we get the "W".
IN CONCLUSION!
Good show. A very in ring focused edition of NXT. Nothing was bad, and I really enjoyed three of the matches: Balor/Kidd, Women's tag, and NXT Championship. Corbin/Bull was good for what it was, but not sure I get exactly why it went down like it did. Felt rushed and was surprising as usually NXT is good at pacing stories. For these two to FINALLY face off in the ring I figured it'd have been a bigger deal. As for the match itself? I kind of figured this was what would happen. Each man a monster, and Corbin slays Bull like THAT? Very impressive. I was pleasantly surprised with the finish of the Title match. Because, apparently WWE has me conditioned to assume Main Events like this will end in DQ/Non Finishes. (further proof at how crazy different these products are) I figured Owens would poke his stitched nose into things, just glad they let it wait until after a three count.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Greetings and Salutations and Happy New Year! Yesterday I made my cheap-heat debut, and today I make my show recapping debut. Tomorrow? Who knows. Maybe I tap dance. Like so much of the internet I adore NXT. So its my pleasure to bring a recap. If you're like me? You looked at Twitter you found out that NXT actually aired at 4 pm today! It'll also air at 8pm, as normal, but the powers that be might be thrilled that this recap is gonna find it to the inbox BEFORE 8pm. AND it frees me up to fully pay attention to the College Football Semifinals tonight! Lets kick thing off.
NXT New Year's Day Edition!
Match Time!
We open with LU! CHA! LU! CHA! As the Lucha Dragons head to the ring. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillenger are out as we're set for non title tag team action. Your referee is Charles Robinson (don't get used to that as I don't know most of the refs in NXT, or even in WWE anymore.)
Kalisto immediately getting worked by Tye and Jason. Dillenger does a stereotypical bow… and I feel he's confused by where "Lucha" originates. NXT crowd is getting behind Tye during this match. Kalisto kicks his way out of the corner and flips through to make a hot tag. Sin Cara hits a nice middle rope moonsault onto a standing Dillenger, and caps it off with what the announcer called "Sunset Bomb" off the top rope… It was? Kind of. Lucha Dragons win, but the Vaudevillains are out! A beat down ensues. They leave the Dragons laying.
Backstage! … in a Locker Room!
Backstage CJ and Bull are chatting. CJ has a match with Corbin. Bull doesn't want CJ to get humiliated again, and after an exchange Bull leaves it that this match with Baron has to be about the "Greater Good".
Commercial! (Normally won't mention these)
NXT is moving to Wednesdays. Of course. Cuz they aren't gonna put NXT up against Smackdown. We wouldn't watch Smackdown!
Match Time!
Enzo, Cass out to introduce Carmella who is up. I enjoy Enzo's schtick, and the crowd is already chanting "Blue Pants". Carmella is not fond of this. Enzo and Cass team up to give "Blue Pants" a wonderful ring announcement. Blue Pants has ring gear that reminds me of early X-Men uniforms. Apparently Blue Plants met up with Steve and got a "Blue's Clue". Huge "LETS GO BLUE PANTS" from Full Sail. Enzo jumps on the apron to "coach". Carmella pie faces him off the ring, turns, small package and Blue Pants with the ONE… TWO… THREE! Carmella goes Jerry Springer on Enzo. With a wild swinging/slapping/clubbing attack, before Cass can get in there and break them up. So they're continuing this story. Enzo has now cost the group 2 straight matches. Dissension continues to grow… I HOPE its not leading to a break up. It'd be incredibly early to do that.
Match Time!
CJ Parker is up, and you can "Break his sign, but can't break his spirit" (that's the "A-Side" of his sign this week). Take THAT, Kevin Owens! Motorcycles rev and out comes Baron Corbin. I've enjoyed the hell out of what they're doing between Bull and Baron and the "Squash Olympics". Makes squashes fun as you build these two monsters up, and I'm looking forward to this feud building to a one on one… I'm guessing at the next Takeover. Bell Rings. Crowd Counts. Bull Sits (ringside). Snake eyes. Big Boot. End of Days. Bell Rings. Stares Dempsey Down. Crowd was up in the 20s of their count. Baron has a mic. Hmmm… He challenges Bull, though he needs to work on his mic work. No… literally… Either the mic was too far away from his mouth, or Production was so stunned by his wanting to talk they forgot to make his mic hot. First line was kinda garbled and inaudible. But he ends up dragging Bull over the barricade and they slug it out. The First Platoon of Referees pours from the back to break up the brawl. Crowd is unhappy. Baron is unhappy. Bull is unhappy.
WHY SO SERIOUS?!
Backstage!
Regal says Zayn will return next week. He's interrupted by Curtis Axel. Axel wants to recharge his career. He's a former IC Champion with wins over Cena and Triple H! So? Regal is like, sure, dude. You can fight Hideo Itami next week. "Happy New Year Sunshine" – and I mark out just a little. As Regal calling people Sunshine is a favorite of mine.
In Ring!
Please welcome NXT Women's Champion, Charlotte. Charlotte is an incredible athlete and in ring performer. Her match with Nattie and her series of matches with Sasha Banks have been excellent. But this is an area that needs work. She is asked what's next after beating almost everyone and the crowd chants "BLUE PANTS". Charlotte says no one chants at her because she's genetically superior… or something. Charlotte definitely came off more heelish here. Sasha cuts her off with Becky Lynch in tow. They threaten to give her the beat down of a lifetime, and just as its about to pop off, the Screech of Guitars that means a Hart is near. Out is Nattie to cut off this beatdown before it even begins. Somewhere Teddy Long is screaming "TAG TEAM PLAYA!!!" – but alas that's going to grace our screens at a later date.
Match Graphic!
NXT Week (see what I did there?) – The Vaudevillains will get their rematch with the Lucha Dragons. That is quite manly!
iPhone Video!
Sami Zayn is shooting a promo on his iPhone to check in with us. Wherever Sami is? Its snowy. Not the picture… There is snow on the ground.
Three Weeks Ago!
Renee Young sits down with Kevin Owens. Renee asks Kevin about stealing Sami's moment. Calls him a life long friend. Kevin disagrees with both of those points, and storms off. He's known Sami 12 years, according to Kevin.
In Ring!
Main Event Time. The Ascension is out. Hitami is out next. Balor out last. Crowd stomping/hitting the barricade with the heartbeat opening. No makeup for Finn, and I'm good with that. I wondered if we'd hear boos for that. Finn's music is fantastic, and the lighting choreography is so on point. Crowd chanting "Finn". Bell rings and they brawl. Ascension bailed. Finn starts off dominating. Viktor taking a beating so far. Lots of tags and good team work between Finn and Hideo. Makes me feel like they're going to keep them a team for a bit. Tide changes with a nasty European Uppercut that Balor ate attempting to slingshot from the apron onto the top rope, and sent Finn crashing to the floor.
Which sends us to?
Commercial!!
… because.. well… it is STILL a WWE show. We come back from ads for Smackdown's move and Bray+Dean+Ambulance = Rawesomeness, and Finn has had a less good time while we were away. Good thing with Balor/Itami is they can structure every match differently. Both guys have a future as singles stars so they can mix up who gets beat down, hot tags, and who picks up the tab at IHOP. Itami gets the hot tag. Goes off. Hits a nice Tornado Hot Shot. Think tornado DDT only keeps rotating through and drops Viktor throat first across the top rope. They really pick up the pace, Itami again lifts Viktor up into GTS position, the crowd roars their approval, but Viktor gets out. Crowd chants "GTS", but we're destined to be teased… Vegas will set the over/under for him hitting the GTS at the NXT Takeover. Favorite for who he hits it on? Finn Balor. Thoughts on my humble prognostication, Finn?
STOP.
Back to the action. Itami hits what appeared to be similar to the Trouble in Paradise, with Viktor kneeling. Balor hits a Double Stomp onto Connor on the outside. Itami makes the cover. One… Two… Three! Balor and Itami continue to roll. Probably a step below their R Evolution match. Enjoying the evolution of Itami and Balor as a tag team.
FINAL THOUGHTS!
Good episode. You're almost always guaranteed one good to great match that gets a bunch of time. That was our main event. Every other match, while on the brief side, had a story aspect, and entertained. Segments were solid. I was pleasantly surprised with Bull and CJ backstage. Worried about where they're going with the Five Burroughs crew. I hope if its a break up', its simply cutting Carmella loose. Because Enzo can't function with her around. Time will tell.
That brings a close to this the first recap of mine, here. First of 2015. Hopefully you enjoyed. If you have anything. Drop me a line here or tweet me @sirmhayesxiv. See you soon.

This week on BoredWrestlingFan Radio, Joe talks about his Monday Night RAW experience from the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY this past Monday night. В We get into a discussion on what Cena’s team should have on the line against The Authority’s power at Survivor Series. В We talk about man on woman violence in professional wrestling as the discussion turns to Wednesday night’s Lucha Underground. В And we can’t seem to remember anything that happened on SmackDown.
In the news, TNA seems to be vanishing from Spike TV’s airwaves in the near future. В Myzteziz (The former Sin Cara) seconds Alberto Del Rio’s claim that WWE is racist. В Hulk Hogan talks about John Cena, and laments having a legdrop for a finisher. В Renee Young offends people with her Halloween costume. В Injury updates on Santino Marella, Bo Dallas, and Zack Ryder. В All this and much, much more on this week’s episode of BoredWrestlingFan Radio!

Let me tell you right now that the first hour of this show pretty much dragged. В That said, I’m going to be really skimming through it this week. В The second hour was actually pretty good, and the start of hour three? В Well, you’ll see when we get there. В So, let’s go!
I watch the first two hours at home, drive to work, then have to watch the entire show again because I forgot what happened and didn’t have the foresight to review it live. В It’s irrelevant anyway – you’re more interested in Gregory Iron being our special guest on this Sunday’s BWF Radio.
Triple H kicks off RAW, saying he’s going to end the YES Movement at WrestleMania. В Batista comes out to confront him and ask why he would make the match at WrestleMania a triple threat match. В Randy Orton comes out wondering the same thing, but says he’ll take on Daniel Bryan if Triple H gives him a no DQ match against him later on tonight. В Triple H agrees to that, as Batista and Orton bicker. В Triple H finally tells them that he’s tired of gremlins like Daniel Bryan, of Hollywood movie stars coming back here thinking they can tell him what’s right for this business, and of technically gifted guys who are so screwed up in the head that they can’t win a match without Triple H holding their hand. В Triple H says we’re going to have a triple threat at WrestleMania – because if he beats Bryan, it’ll be Batista, Orton, and Triple H. В Orton RKO’s Batista.
Backstage, Batista tells Renee Young he’s leaving.
The WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos, take on The Real Americans, Cesaro and Jack Swagger. В The Usos have been on a roll as of late while the Real Americans seem to be on a path of implosion. В Tonight, however, Swagger sacrifices himself on behalf of Cesaro, taking a side kick and a suicide dive from one of the Usos – but Cesaro takes advantage with a huge European uppercut to the Uso trying to do a suicide dive on him, then drops him with a Neutralizer mid-ring to pick up the victory for the Real Americans over the Tag Team Champions.
We get a look at WWE Slam City, which is some animated series about the WWE Superstars finding day jobs after they all get fired. В Best line in the ad is the character of Kane (none of them are voiced by their actual WWE counterparts) yelling “WHO WANTS DESSERT!?!?” while firing a flamethrower.
Kane apologizes to The Shield and informs them that they have a new mission from The Authority, and if they don’t prove themselves to be assets, they’ll be liabilities. В The Shield give him their word that they are united.
Hornswoggle, looking like a mini Chum Lee from Pawn Stars, is tossing St. Patrick’s Day goodies out to the WWE Universe when Bad News Barrett interrupts. В St. Patrick chased all the snakes out of Ireland, but the reality is that most people will spend this holiday getting inebriated and vomiting all night, waking up with a hangover, realizing they’ve done shameful things, and then spend the rest of their lives regretting them. В I agree.
Sheamus takes on Titus O’Neil, who comes out dressed up for St. Patrick’s Day, complete with ginger beard. В Christian is on commentary, announcing that he’s in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania. В Titus tries to do a fireman’s carry throw 0n Hornswoggle a la Razor Ramon, but Sheamus catches ‘Swoggle, tosses him in to O’Neil, then hits the Brogue Kick for the win. В Sheamus cuts a promo about how he beat “Tight Arse O’Neil” and how he’ll win the Andre The Giant battle royal – then Christian once again attacks Sheamus. В Because nobody’s sick ofВ that program yet.
We get an announcement that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Joe Manganiello of the upcoming filmВ Sabotage are the guest stars on next week’s RAW. В And also, Scooby Doo and the Mystery Machine. В So Schwarzenegger and Scooby Doo will be on RAW next week. В Seriously. В This is happening on the road to WrestleMania – Schwarzenegger and Scooby Doo.
John Cena hits the ring and admits he’s afraid of Bray Wyatt because Wyatt is like nothing he’s ever faced before. В Wyatt interrupts on the TitanTron, wearing John Cena merch. В He says children believe in Super Heroes because they want to believe that the world is good. В They don’t understand that everything is a lie. Wyatt has scars that the world gave to him. В He could be like Cena, sign autographs, kiss babies, make sure everybody buys his merchandise. В “I could go home to my plastic girlfriend and my castle.” В He can hide behind laughter and tell jokes to feel better about himself, that’s Cena. В But he’s right, Wyatt’s different than anyone he will ever face, because at WrestleMania, he doesn’t care if he leaves. В He doesn’t care if he dies. В As long as the world sees Cena the way Wyatt does. В Follow The Buzzards.
Randy Orton faces Daniel Bryan in a no disqualification match to kick off the second hour. В It’s all Orton with a kendo stick, save for a few moments of offense from Bryan, and then he gets a steel chair to do even more damage. В Before he can strike, however, Batista comes in and spears Orton. В Bryan dropkicks Batista out of the ring, then pins Orton. В As Bryan leaves, Batista drops the WWE World Heavyweight Champion with a Batista Bomb, much to the delight of the WWE Universe, who want him to do it one more time.
The announce team show their technical ineptitude as they try to show us the WWE Network sign up process.
Paul Heyman is here, and he tells us that Brock Lesnar has easily conquered several of the Undertaker’s more recent WrestleMania opponents, each of whom The Undertaker barely survived. В He brought a clip. В I’d put it here, but WWE hasn’t put it up on YouTube. В Basically it says that Undertaker is getting old and that Brock Lesnar is a beast. В Heyman says The Undertaker and the streak will rest in peace.
Back in the Authority’s office, Stephanie McMahon questions Triple H wanting to talk to Daniel Bryan tonight, and then what happens when he wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and has to go back on the road full time. В She asks if he’s thinking at all. В He says he’s thinking clearly and not to worry about it. В She tells him he better take care of it.
Fandango with Summer Rae takes on Goldust with Cody Rhodes. В Goldust dances with Cody on the ramp, and Fandango offers the floor to Goldust when the match starts. В Goldust acts all creepy, Summer Rae tries to get involved, she falls off the apron into the arms of Cody Rhodes, who takes a while to put her down. В Fandango misses the top rope legdrop and gets dropped by Goldust, who picks up the victory.
As the third hour kicks off, Kane comes to the ring and tells Jerry “The King” Lawler to get in the ring, because Kane’s investigation says he’s responsible for Occupy RAW happening last week. В Jerry doesn’t oblige, so The Shield come down to escort him into the ring. В They back Lawler into a corner. В Kane says they’ve known each other for a long time, and Jerry’s not exactly in fighting shape, so Kane won’t enjoy this – well, maybe a little. В He asks if Lawler has anything to say for himself. В Lawler looks around, and Seth Rollins says “Jerry. В I see that look in your eyes. В But I got a good feeling Daniel Bryan is not coming to save you. В Because The Shield always does what’s best for business.” В Rollins drops the mic, and The Shield turn toward Kane. В Lawler gets out of the ring with a big smile on his face. В Kane berates The Shield as they surround him. В He tries to fight them off, but Dean Ambrose breaks up a chokeslam attempt on Rollins, and Roman Reigns spears Kane. В The Hounds of Justice drop Kane with the triple powerbomb and stand united over the fallen Director of Operations.
The Bella Twins are on commentary as The Funkadactyls take on AJ Lee and Tamina. В Naomi is wearing an eye patch, but apparently must be cleared to wrestle. В I left at the start of this match, but I really don’t give enough of a shit about this to sit through it. В So, FFW! В Naomi pins AJ after a split legged moonsault. В Afterward, AJ and Tamina get into it. В AJ blames Tamina for her recent string of losses. В Tamina shoves AJ down.
Mr. T is announced as the next inductee into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, and rightfully so, despite the fact that Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mean Gene Okerlund said he was completely unprofessional to work with on an episode of WWE Legends of Wrestling (it’s the “Renegades & Outlaws” edition, which is on the WWE Network’s On Demand service. В Check it out!)
Eight man tag team action happens as Big Show, Mark Henry, Big E, and Dolph Ziggler take on RybAxel, Damien Sandow, and Alberto Del Rio. В All of these guys are apparently in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. В I really don’t care about this – more than the Diva’s match, but still not enough to sit through it. В FFW! В Sandow gets pinned by Big Show after a chokeslam.
Batista confirms that he didn’t quit WWE, and he doesn’t care who is the third man in the match, he’s leaving WrestleMania with what he came for, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Kofi Kingston takes on Bray Wyatt, but first, we get a music video package on Bray Wyatt set to the song “Legacy” by Eminem. В Because when I think Bray Wyatt, I think Eminem. В Of course, the WWE video package crew makes it work. В So it’s the dude who is only on WrestleMania to be a spot monkey in the battle royal vs. the guy who is in one of the top matches against one of the WWE’s top stars. В I wonder who is going to win this one. В It doesn’t last long. В Wyatt wins with Sister Abigail.
Did I mention that Schwarzenegger and Scooby Doo will be on RAW next week? В Because WWE did again. В Or at least that Schwarzenegger and the other dude in his new movie are anyway.
Triple H calls out Daniel Bryan. В He doesn’t have to ask twice. В Triple H has some things to get off his chest, and it’s not a popular decision among his circle. В Triple H says that everything he’s done since SummerSlam he has done because he believes it is best for business. В He says none of this was personal. В He doesn’t expect anybody to understand the burdens of having to make the decisions of what is best for this company. В Last week, Bryan crossed the line, but Triple H will let it be in the past. В It feels like this was supposed to happen, but the fact is that they will step in this ring and fight in three weeks. В Triple H won’t apologize for anything he does, and Bryan shouldn’t apologize to him either. В They will do what they do best at WrestleMania. В But Bryan crossed the line and Triple H has no choice but to end it, because it’s best for business. В He wanted to let Bryan know, no hard feelings and may the best man win. В He extends a hand to Bryan. В Bryan refuses, and Triple H understands. В He does want to let Bryan know one other thing. В He’s dumped a ton on him since SummerSlam. В He’s done everything possible, and yet Bryan is still standing here. В Anybody else would have folded a long time ago, but not Bryan. В Bryan’s got a big set, and if nothing else, he’s earned Triple H’s respect. В Stephanie comes out and questions him. В What Bryan did was illegal, and endangered the lives of the people in the ring, and she’s pressing charges. В He spit in the face of her family, so he will suffer the consequences. В Police officers, who look suspiciously similar to indie wrestlers, come out to arrest Bryan. В Triple H and Stephanie argue on the ramp. В The “officers” surround Bryan, then cuff him and take him down. В Triple H questions them, then smiles at Stephanie. В He says this isn’t what he wants. В Triple H says they’re not even real cops. В Besides, he’s really looking forward to doing this himself. В Triple H starts stomping the shit out of a handcuffed and helpless Bryan. В He tosses Bryan out of the ring and into the steel ring steps. В He bounces Bryan’s head off of the announce table. В Bryan tries to fight back, but to no avail. В Triple H slams Bryan on the announce table. В Triple H continues the assault as Stephanie mocks Bryan. В Bryan once again tries to fight back unsuccessfully. В Triple H holds Bryan for Stephanie to slap him. В Bryan says “YOU HIT LIKE A GIRL!” В Triple H puts Bryan in the ring with his head against the post, then nails him with a steel chair. В Unprotected chairshots to the head – it’s what’s best for business. В Triple H drags Bryan to the center of the ring and Pedigrees his unconscious body to the mat. В Stephanie joins him in the ring and mocks the Yes chants. В RAW ends with Triple H saying that this all belongs to them, and there is no “YES Movement.”
Thoughts : В If Bryan doesn’t walk out of WrestleMania as the Champion, what is all of this for? В Is Triple H going to bury Bryan and win the title himself? В It’s now a possibility. В By the way, I watched Talking Dead last night on AMC. В CM Punk was introduced as “Phil Brooks, who you may know as CM Punk.” В At the end of the show, the other people were announced with what they do for a living, but all that was said about Phil Brooks was that you can find him on Twitter at @CMPunk. В Since he wasn’t in the Brock Lesnar/Undertaker video package, I think it’s safe to say he’s done.
