The Good, The Bad and The Vague: WWE Survivor Series 2014

Welcome to the latest installment of The Good, The Bad, and The Vaguely.. and this time around we’re breaking down last night’s Survivor Series on the WWE Network!

The Good

Jack Swagger versus Cesaro: A feud revisited that gave Jack Swagger the opportunity to finally become a face. Colter & Swagger aren’t bad as faces, it’s really hard to pull off Zeb’s Rush Limbaugh archetype. I do not understand why Cesaro is being buried the way he is.

It’s the Fatal Four Tag Team Championship Match and the team of The Miz and Damian Mizdow are probably one of the most amusing teams we have right now. I was really digging what Stardust was wearing. The fan reaction for Mizdow was hilarious. The other teams were fun too. Los Matadores had some good bits with El Torito as well as some fake out taunts. The Usos continue to keep up with the high flying maneuvers in every match, which worksfor who they are.

Dean Ambrose versus Bray Wyatt–I liked that they decided to make this a street fight. It makes perfect sense. Mick Foley foreshadowed a while back. The only minor complaint I may have was that I wished it went on longer. I doubt this is the end of their rivalry. We’re probably going to see some form of stipulation match at TLC.

Team Cena vs. Team Authority: This was a suspenseful match. There were some problems here and there. After Mark Henry and Ryback were eliminated, it took a while for there to be any more eliminations. I am glad that Ziggler was the sole survivor and winner. Out of everyone on Team Cena, The Authority were relentless on Ziggler. So it was good to see him come out on top.

Now, the moment that made history: The Man Called Sting made his first ever appearance in the WWE. The Authority were on the verge of losing, so Triple H attacked both referees and called for a third. Then Sting appeared. The two stared at each other, Sting dodged Triple H’s attack and performed the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting placed Dolph over Seth and it was goodbye Team Authority.

The Bad

I get why the Divas Title match happened the way that it did, but that doesn’t mean I liked it. Brie Bella kisses AJ Lee in the same fashion that Lee did to Brie’s husband at Wrestlemania 28 after Sheamus took him out with a Brogue kick to win the World Heavyweight title. Still, if this was AJ Lee’s last match with the company, they could have built up to it. Then again, giving her the shaft wouldn’t surprise me considering who her husband is. So Nikki Bella is the new Divas champion. I wonder if this means the sisters are on good terms again. Are they both heels? Don’t know or care.

The bad thing about the main event, and what I found annoying was out of all the superstars that could have betrayed Cena, they chose Big Show again? Seriously, why not Ryback? Casting Big Show as the traitor has already been done, he even already turned on Cena two years ago during his match with John Laurenitis.

The Vague

I didn’t find the divas elimination match memorable. Often times there are people who will say I should just put the Vague into the Bad if it isn’t Good, but this was neither. I was surprised that the faces got a clean sweep. Which is a shame because Paige is really talented, she could have brought it down to her and Natalya.

Adam Rose and The Bunny versus Health Slater and Titus O’Neil… I don’t remember a thing about this match. I remember the backstage banter. Other than that the match was a complete afterthought.

In Conclusion:

DAMN! This show sure was entertaining–for the most part. I’d say 80% of the show was really great. The long awaited debut of Sting was really like an early Christmas present. I don’t expect him sticking around longer than a year. While in good shape for 55, it should really be a short term deal considering how much touring has affected older guys like Ric Flair and The Undertaker. Maybe do one match at the Royal Rumble and one match at Wrestlemania.

So now Team Authority is no more. I am curious to see how all of this will play out. With Larry The Cable Guy on Raw, that’s going to be a distraction from anything else happening. Thank god this is a 3 hour show. They wouldn’t be able to cram 2 hours of last night’s show into this week’s Raw otherwise.

Well that’s it for me. I hope you all enjoyed Survivor Series as much as I did. I’ll catch you later for another edition of the Good, The Bad, and The Vaguely, available exclusively at Cheap-Heat.com!
