WWE Network Review: Brothers of Destruction Compilation

I just finished watching the WWE Network’s exclusive two-match preview from the recently released Brothers of Destruction DVD. The Network is a good place to promote DVD’s and introducing two matches from one of the products is a good way to do it. I found it interesting that they were recent matches as opposed ones from the Attitude Era, because the later runs of Kane and the Undertaker were fun, but not as fun as their time in the early 2000s.

The first match was from a Smackdown episode in 2006 that pitted MVP & Mr. Kennedy against The Brothers of Destruction. We are all aware of Teddy Long and the infamous tag team matches he booked during his run as GM. I remember these feuds pretty well; Montel Vontavious Porter had just made his in-ring debut around this time and Kane had just been drafted to Smackdown. I recall the two ended their feud with an Inferno match–known today as a “Ring of Fire” match. I miss the Pre-PG WWE. Mr. Kennedy was feuding with The Undertaker at the time, and their rivalry would culminate in a last ride match. In the weeks leading to their respective showdowns, it was decided to have the two brothers reunite to take on MVP and Kennedy. It was significant to see them again as a team since their looks had drastically changed since last they teamed.

Next match was from an episode of ECW on Sci Fi in 2008. The ECW Champion Kane & World Heavyweight Champion The Undertaker took on the WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison. I don’t believe this was a feud, but this was the first time the Brothers of Destruction were champions together, so who wouldn’t want to see this match? A great match from start to finish.

Overall, this was a solid watch and I highly recommend the DVD to anyone that is a fan of the Brothers of Destruction.
